Legal Sea Foods Review

Amazing atmosphere, great oyster selection, great menu selections, friendly and helpful staff. I had a seated view of the river and grassy area. Ordered their signature oyster or seasonal, called Well-something and Seafood au Gratin and loaded mashed potatoes. Went Sunday around 12pm and was seated immediately. Crowd started rolling in around 1pm - 2pm. Definitely recommend

Only reason why I went to Legas was for the popcorn schrimp which they do not have on the menu anymore. So disappointed.

Even though the weather was nice, that doesn't mean keep the doors open with the AC on, means the food gets cold extra easily. I was not happy with my cold caserole, (comes in a hot dish to) unhappy with the over cooked tuna when specifically asked for medium rare. A lot of staff, but the food still took forever.

I had taken a dear friend of mine from out of town to legal o the mystic. waiting time was very long 30 plus minutes and there were plenty of seats. i ordered a cup of tea i had to send back 3 times for a clean cup. Seriously, 50 min later the food came horrible salty and dry seafood platter. 30.00 waisted should seafood biscuit dry $25.00 seafood chowder cold. fried pickles must have been left overs so dry. well needles to say 75.00. later not visiting them again. My opinion. thank you.

Fabulous experience this weekend at Legal's. Colin went OUT OF HIS WAY to make everything perfect for us, and we had such a nice time out thanks to his efforts, as well as our server Branden and the bartender Katie. The everything tuna was delicious, and they accommodated our request to switch up the sides. The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly accommodating!

I was concerned about dining out during COVID, but all the staff were wearing masks, and there was hand sanitizer in multiple locations, which made me feel more comfortable -- and we were able to sit outside. All in all, a really nice evening!

Great fine seafood Restaurant. You can't find any better clam chowder than that

Good seafood choices if you are a seafood lover but limited choices for other types of meat. Love the Rainbow Trout when they have it.

I went there with my mom and daughter on a Sunday. Even though Assembly Row is so packed, Legal on the Mystic has attentive service. The staff is wonderful. The food is always great. I am not a fan of chains but this one does it right.

This place is always worth it. Expensive, yes. But never had a bad meal.

Not much specialty seafood and no steamed crabs. Did have a very nice swordfish kebab. The atmosphere was terrific.

It is on the pricier side but the portions are large AND there are low carb options!! If you want filling but light then check it out. If you want cheap, go to the pizza place around the corner.

Always a solid pre-movie stop for dinner and drinks. Fun and friendly wait staff and of course, the seafood is outstanding. The raw oysters are generally our go-to as apps and often ends up being the meal!

A Boston staple! I had the warm Lobster Roll with butter only...I'd only ever had a lobster roll made w mayo and served cold. This legit changed my life! The roll, the super fresh, HUGE chunks of lobster, the butter...ugh I'm drooling thinking about it! Also had the shrimp cocktail, crab cake, scallops...all amazing! Can't wait to go again!

Food was amazing, lobster mac and cheese looked like a favorite thru out the place. Great drinks as well.

Beautifully grilled arctic char (salmon family) and exquisite caprese salad with balsamic and pesto drizzle. I was impressed that no drinks were served with plastic straws! Bravo!! Plastic straws should be universally banned.

Limited menu due to COVID-19 but the few selections are very good. Today's special was on point!

Foos was good service was off I asked the server about an expired gift card she checked with a manager said I could use it the check came and they said no

It's Legal Seafood with a giant window on the Mystic River. My salmon Ruben was delicious.

Jeannette was a phenomenal server. She provided over the top and premier customer service to the large party I had dinner with. She displayed professionalism and showed her experience as a server throughout the night. Will definitely be coming here in the future do to the service she provided for us tonight. Thanks again Jeannette!!!!!!!

One if by land, two if by Sea. I ll take two, at Legal Seafood! What starts out as a good meal, only gets better with each serving... start with a fabulous Gin and Tonic, the bread is a treat of warmth, texture and taste.... some Chowda, then (of course) the Lobsta! (and clams and mussels.... GO for the Lobster Bake !!) I couldn t make it to dessert, but expect that to be a special treat too! Hello Boston, Legal Seafood, many locations.... so far, love them all!!

Very rarely does a food business is able to keep you enticed, selective and keep your palate interested to have more. We are not sea food aficionados. We tried for the first time and have been coming here for 6th time now. Consistent service, food, new items and tasty!!!!
Money s worth.
Not full star as it s kept bit dark, and music can be too loud for our taste. We liked to talk, on a Friday evening share how was the week, relax eat well.

Traveling northeast for leaf color and stopped in after leaving airport. What a great experience! Hot soup full of clams, delicious salmon, a great grilled seafood salad and delicious wines were our choices. Not a disappointment. Left satisfied. You should look for good food and hospitality here too! You won't be sorry.

Completely bonkers good fresh food. Was surprisingly good post-Legoland lunch option with kids.

Not a usual "Legal Sea Foods", but still great place to eat something from the Fish/Ocean/Sea world. Very delicious, no issues with sitting places, and great location. Highly recommended!

Lobster roll was just out of the world. It was amazing so is the place and the ambience.

Only 4 stars because of limited menu. No fish chowder on the menu. Sort of like an airport Legal SF - good, but missing some favorites.

1.5 ounce pours are a joke. Food was meh.

Had reservation for a month, they jammed us into an 8top sized table for 10 ppl with stools for chairs, no back support for half the group....solid preperation. Just about what you'd expect from a chain restaurant.

Waitress was the only redeeming quality.

Very delicious fresh seafood. Large portions and friendly waitstaff. It was a little much for for my youngest but i ordered her an adult food since the kids meals were not seafood options except maybe fried fish. I can't remember because she wanted scallops and that wasn't on there. They were really good though. They serve delicious sourdough rolls while waiting for your meals. They go perfect with the clam chowder.

Great atmosphere it always seems to be busy so plan ahead FYI if you did not know a restaurant being busy is one of those things you really want in a place you visit. The food is not much different then any other Legals although there are some small menu variances. The server was good but I felt like she should study to the a bit more to better relay what's the dish or drink is all about. The food quality was on par for a mid level restaurant, much better then a Chili's type chain but not as good as Palm or Ruth Chris type chain. I had the grilled Trout with seaweed salad and jasmine rice the trout was grilled perfectly and was finished with a lemon butter anchovy drizzle, the sea weed was a cold salad it has Asian flavors of soy ginger etc. And the rice was simply salted however jasmine rice it very fragment which give it all its taste which is what you want in a rice like that. All in all I would go back again and would suggest to family friends and even yourself!

Food was good. However, my mother and I could've done without the rude passive aggressive manager and his blatant microaggressions. He made our dinner uncomfortable and incredibly awkward. I love Legal Seafood but I will never visit this location ever again.

Absolutely delicious food and fantastic service! We arrived around 5:00pm on Thursday, seated immediately, and our very sweet waitress showed up right away as well.
My husband and I ordered Clam Chowder and it came out quickly and it was everything we had hoped for....coming from Texas our expectations were high! :)
We special ordered our grilled salmon and steamed veggies and our waitress had no problem at all putting in our specialty order. As soon as we finished our soup appetizer, the entrees were served, hot and exactly how we ordered.
Drinks were kept filled without us asking.
We ordered coffee and dessert and it was out quickly as well. The Ice Cream Bon Bons and Carrott Cake were delicious!!
We re only in Boston for one more day so we have on our schedule to go back tomorrow night to try the Fish and Chips! Of course we will have the New England Clam Chowder again before heading back to Texas!

Our server was the best part of the experience. He was great with giving recommendations and was very personable and attentive with his service. The food was incredible and was good for the price that it was. It was a relaxed and romantic atmosphere that would be perfect for someone's first date or 50th date. I would highly recommend Legal on the Mystic to any of my friends.

What is vibrant as it used to be but that is what it's like everywhere now.

It is not as enjoyable as it used to be with this Co but so even though it's a good place with high quality food the experiences minimize because of covid-19.

In addition most of the Legal Sea Foods have been decreasing in quality in the past 25 years and even though the fish is high quality and there's hardly any chance of getting sick because of the bio noralogic testing labs the prices are still too expensive.

Jim a good size Lobster is going to cost you at least $50 here and they're not cooked to perfection

Good seafood, friendly staff. The crab cakes are good - have tried many dishes, yet to be disappointed

First time to this Legals. Everything was OK. I had the grilled tuna. My wife had the seafood antipasto. Tuna was cooked medium as asked, but it was seared one side and over cooked on the other. Grill lines were intense creating a burned taste vs a nice char. Side salad with apple, walnuts and cranberries was well made. French fries were delicious. Tried a new drink, the Boulivardier. Not good. Tasted too much like the pith of the citrus. Very bitter drink. Her dinner was well presented. It is a cold seafood preparation so for some it may not be what one is expecting. Her drink was a pomegranate lemon drop. Well mixed and delicious. Server was attentive but not hovering. She did not ask about the drinks. Knowledgeable about the food. I do expect more from a Legals restaurant. Would have been a 2 star if not for my wife's drink and fries, yes the fries were that good.

Food is delicious split grilled mashed potatos, lobster, and asparagus ..cooked perfect atmosphere is good drinks are tasty. Always good here

I'm not sure why everyone raves about this spot. I just went there and feel robbed of my money and wasn't satisfied with the food at all. Calamari and a salad should not be $30. Especially, when the lettuce in the salad was close to going bad (some of it was bad). The calamari was ok. By that, I'm mean it was fully cooked.

The only reason I decided to write this review is because this the second time I've visited this location and had food that doesn't really live up to the name and reputation of the restaurant.

I don't plan on returning but, if I ever visit again, I do hope it will have improved. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

very rude and unprofessional staff. I was disrespected and not even treated equally compared to my neighboring tables. My food wasn't even REHEATED properly, forget fresh. Do not go here and waste your money.

The food at Legals is always good. Our server was the best, thank you Edson, you're awesome!! We started with a chilled Casamigos Tequila shot. Apps were New England clam chowder, Rhode Island style calamari and 3 Moondance and 3 Pemaquid oysters. Then had Caesar salad with Grilled shrimp and a Big Green Salad with Salmon... delish the staff was great with wearing masks, tables were well spaced and sanitizers available.

I ordered the new teriyaki salmon burger and it was horrible and bland. Didn t think it was possible to teriyaki salmon to have no TASTE at ALL! The tuna burger, that they took off the menu was so much better. I wish they would bring that back cause this substitution is a No Go.

Food was very good and Andrew our waiter was quite pleasant and helpful.

I ordered the grilled shrimp for lunch takeout. The five grilled shrimp I received were overcooked and very tough while the broccoli was understeamed. If cooked properly, this food would have been delicious.

She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable.
I took my niece out to celebrate some good news.
The waitress was awesome we all felt like she deserved a shout out for her outstanding service!
