Excellent clam chowder! Fantastic seafood. Very nice wines. Very good service.
Excellent clam chowder! Fantastic seafood. Very nice wines. Very good service.
Delicious. My go-to is poke-manna from heaven.
My biggest complaint is the size. I usually get hungry a few hours after eating here.
Waitress was absolutely worthless. Didn't bring our food, our drinks or clean our table or ask how we were doing. Will never do business with them again. Food was mediocre.
This place is great! The food is consistently good, and well prepared. They have chicken, salmon, poke, and a few other seafood choices. There are lots of options for toppings and sauces. The staff are always friendly as well. You should try their lemonade!
Tasty but you're paying for the city location and beautiful building. Market prices were very high even for a standard like broiled tuna steaks. Gorgeous exterior and super interior. Very special. But I've had equally as good seafood elsewhere in New England at a much lower price and enjoyed myself just as much. Upscale drinks menu. Service was subdued and pleasant, but not outstanding.
Love coming here to have a bowl of clam chowder for lunch. When I sat at the bar I had the bowl within 5 minutes. Very quick!
Not my cup of tea, but if you love seafood the quality is very high and the selection is good.
Some interesting menu items and always attentive staff. I've been to several locations and always found the food to be good and the service excellent.
We eat here all the time. Legal Sea Foods might not be the swankiest or most exciting of all restaurants, but it is dependably quite good, and they can be trusted to accommodate food sensitivities. The Kendall Square location is usually less crowded than others. I like to go there when they have dollar oysters, and then I can make a meal of nothing but lots of oysters, beer, and dinner rolls.
Food great, was ignored by bartender, as was the two people next to me that came before me. Couldn't get drink refills or their attention to even get the bill. Would recommend a table with reservations....
Really good seafood, nice atmosphere, easy to get a table on the weekend because kendall square is not very busy on the weekends.
I had a delicious meal with MIT. The waiter often checks it too often in a way ^^ . It's a place you'll find again.
I like seafood. And I like the seafood at Legal's. But for the price you are paying, you could just cook most of this at home. There's not a lot here that is worth the money. The stuffed shrimp, for example, is four good sized shrimp filled with stuffing. For that, after tax and tip, you'll pay around $20. Think about that. Four shrimp.
Legal Sea Foods is a very good restaurant. Went there for lunch and got the salmon burger with onion straws. The food was very tasty and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly so and I would recommend this restaurant to other people
Consistently great seafood. Consistently knowledgeable and helpful staff. As good a tuna steak as you're likely to find. Nuff said
For people who want to eat seafood in the area, the restaurant of the Legal Seafood chain is a good place to go. Here you have the opportunity to order the typical Boston or New England lobster or the clam chowder. In terms of price, sea food and especially the lobster are expensive, but here you can at least try it once without hesitation.
Always a queue, but that's a good sign. And the seafood is great.
Food was ok, but the service was awful. Our waiter messed up a bunch of orders, kept pushing us to order more drinks, and kept disappearing when we wanted our check.
Friendly service, great seafood, good beer. Decor probably a bit dated but didn't take away from the experience.
Food is good (it's better at Legal Test Kitchen), but I have to agree slightly overpriced.
Definitely worth the visit if you are looking for a good sea food experience in Boston. Had a great meal with even better service. Try the lobster bisque.
Best clam chowder I have ever had. Wonderful fresh seafood. I had the seafood bake, and it was chock full of shrimp, scallops, and haddock in a cheese and breadcrumb stuffing. It came out hot and delicious. For desert, I had Boston Cream pie. It was filled with real custard, and the chocolate icing was at least 1/3rd of an inch thick! Legal had been around for so long that it's easy to take for granted. Don't. Legal seafood is a Boston treasure.
Dined here solo for lunch, seated at the empty bar. I had the filet mignon which was cooked to a good medium and was delicious despite my request to not use butter or oil in the prep. The manager assisted me when I wanted to confirm my special request and both serves I spoke to were friendly. Note: While they offer a lunch menu, don't expect lunch prices, even for non-seafood items.
The original legal! They get first dibs on best quality seafood.
The price is really high, but the service is good and the food is delicious.
Lovely room and very accommodating. A special night of dining for me knowing it was all Legal. I liked the fresh broccoli side but the Best were the appetizers. You can easily be satisfied with just that.
Great as ever. Had some raw oysters and Mahi Mahi. Delicious!
A great seafood restaurant chain, offering a wide range of seafood (the clue is in the name ), and beers and wines. And wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable service from the waiting staff.
Good food, fun place to go to for celebrating something.
Over rated. Lobster bisque was luke warm. Shrimp Winston was tasteless and the wrap poorly made. Grilled fish dishes were slightly over cooked.
Had a wonderful summer here. Really enjoy the lobster bake, very fresh and delicious lobster. Pricey but a nice venue and great service.
I had the stuffed shrimp casserole. It was amazing. In addition, I'd recommend the Clementine Sangria.
Super disappointed all around.
I'd half expect the Legal franchise or chain or corporation to give more care and thought into their projects. This place feels half assed. The food is true to their standards of expensive and not very flavorful. At least they give you a hella lotta sauce.
Also, where am I supposed to sit? I over pay for a bowl of seriously, the most boring and plain bowl of fish next to pokeworks, and then I wander around cause their only table is of course taken.
They say you can grab a seat in the lounge/bar but how is that fair to the servers or bartenders?
Side note: the vinegar douche drink is garbage.
Had the haddock and oysters, does not taste very fresh. The haddock was bland, slimy, and quite pricey.
This place has the best clam chowder on the face of the earth. You can make a whole meal of just a big bowl of it, thick with clams and creamy goodness. That was my lunch at least once a week for years when I worked across the street.
Delightful appetizers, fast and friendly service, no reservation required at 8pm on a Friday. Wine flights to try the variety of wines available. Family friendly if you want to bring children.
My favorite place to eat EVER.. fantastic food from appetizers to desserts.
Awesome spot for kids. Very friendly and attentive staff. Tremendous lobster rolls!
I went on the 4th of July after hearing the one by the New England aquarium had a half hour wait time. We walked in, were greeted warmly and then seated. We ordered mussels and clam chowder and we were impressed by how flavorful the food was. Our server was exceptionally friendly and went out of her way to make us happy. I highly recommend dining here.
The baked lobster hit the spot! Great ambiance and attentive servers.
Today on 06/21/2019 I went to the legals seafood Kendal sq!!! Absolutely nasty, my food was so nasty the chicken was burnt!!! My seafood platter was nasty, I will never order from this legals seafood again!!!! I would like my money back I paid 56.07 and I want my money back cooperate needs to pay me back!!!
The Portuguese Fisherman stew is a bit lacking. Throw in a piece of fried fish in there doesn't really help it. They were wiping down the tables with a mildewed Rag and they all stunk.... It was after the lunch rush so the wait staff was more interested in hanging out by the register and talking rather than helping the customers. The Ice-T was a bit watered down.
The best seafood in Boston. Try the best classical clam chowder and the jumbo shrimp cocktail. Amazing experience and great service. Im really addictive
Really terrible poke - all of the fish has gross sauce on it (not possible to just get Tuna or salmon without sauce). And the fish didn't taste good (maybe that's why they put the sauce on it). Very disappointing.
Excellent service, but really disappointed with the quality of the seafood preparation. Tasteless fish soup. Overcooking of seafood. Tasteless mussels and lobster. Very good overcooked products, tasteless.
Horrible food and service was not up to par. I felt they cater to a certain clientele and will not go back. But more happy than happy to go downtown Legal seafood downtown by Park Plaza and Tremont St.
Terrible food nothing was fresh. $45 crab that was re-heated from day before the vegetables were worse than Dennys, had the sweet snow peas and Asparagus which was an up charge both were terrible. Save your money red lobster is way way better. Over $100 for two what a waste of time and money.
The seafood is delicious! ! ... but the value is on.
Nice seafood! But, it's a little expensive.
Great service and HUGE lobsters. What more could one want?!!!
Excellent sea food and fish . High price, small plates.
If I miss the casual atmosphere of the original legal seafoods, there's no arguing they continue to execute great seafood
I met my sister there with her 2 sons and my husband. Her younger son was celebrating his birthday. We had the Clam chowder, Kung Pau Chicken, and other dishes. Food was wonderfully prepared. We really enjoyed our meal.
The staff was friendly and nice but the main seafood casserole was so pleasing.
Really expensive for what it is, average quality seafood.
Awesome oysters and smoked salmon, service was good and so were the beverages.
Out of first 2 choices. Food was decent. Service was not.
Went to Legals for a company gathering. I liked the salmon, that's about all I liked. Caesar salad was bland, barely any cheese or dressing. What I didn't like was the service. I would describe it as slow and servers all confused. When I got there and said the name of the company I was with, the lady wasn't familiar with the name. I told her we had a private room and then she knew who I was with. When in the room, it seemed our two hosts/main servers were so confused when they brought out the food for our group that they all kept talking amongst themselves asking which plate was for who. Aside from our main two servers, there were about 3 other people coming in to bring our food and every single one of them that came in was unsure of who they were giving the plate to, walking back and forth in the room. At one point, they brought out a plate of tomatoes, not sure for who. They put it on the table and then came back 5 minutes later and took the plate of tomatoes away. You would think that Legals would have assigned us two well experienced waiters who were used to handling a large group. The food took forever to come out (over 15 minutes), even the salads and soups which are the basics. Also, they didn't set up our seating with enough chairs for our party so we were scrambling last minute to accommodate one of our employees. The workers in our room didn't seem to know what to do to make more space for 1 more person. It was so inconvenient. They also forgot to give silverware to that employee. I would not go here again, definitely not for a company gathering.
You MUST get the lobster bisque. You can thank me later.
Great food, a little bit over priced and the service a little bit overrated.
It may be a local standby, but the food is mediocre and overpriced. Regardless of which fish you order, it is always prepared in basically the same way: dry from being cooked for too long, with minimal garnish. The vegetables are overcooked as well, if you get rice it is dry, and the starter salads are ridiculously large. Avoid it unless your interest is purely cultural...
A safe bet: really good food and wines. Relatively fast service (and also turnover).
Consistently good food and good service. Nothing too special but haven t been disappointed yet!
Delightful place with a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere and delicious food. The attached poke bowl counter also has delicious and affordable meals, which you can take into the bar to sit down with wine- win!!
What really impressed me was when i was misled by the website- (warning, the poke counter closes at 8 in winter!!) ...The only other option next to work was the $12 tiny bowl of seitan at Clover, and we didn't have time for a full sitdown restaurant dinner. Disappointed, I asked about it in the restaurant, and the hostess was kind enough to have the kitchen fix me two takeout bowls anyway! My friend and i could have the fresh poke we'd been looking forward to, and now I'm impressed by their excellent service! Thank you yesterday evening Maitre d', you are my hero! :)
