Reliable local seafood stop and still popular despite all the recent Kendall square competition. Used to be considered expensive but isn't everything these days? Enjoyed the fish tacos today.

Always great food. Always great cocktails. Had the chef's seafood special which wss amazing. The waitstaff were really great, too.
If I could give -1 stars I would.
Made a reservation, still had to wait. Was sat at a small and uncomfortable booth, and the menu seemee very limited. The food took an obscenely long time to come out, and they were out of bread on top of that. Near the end of the "meal", if you could even call it that, our waiter asked my friend if she was "for corporate" or from "the company" as is if he knew the experience was garbage enough for corporate action to take place. Never, Again.
Update/Edit:
Pretty sure the fish chowder gave me food poisoning.
Typically underwhelmed with LSF food/fish quality at this location. Service was descent. Ok in a pinch.
The food was wonderful and the service top-notch. Our server was very helpful and was happy to accommodate my boyfriend's allergy. All in all, we had a wonderful experience here.
Had the Portuguese fisherman's stew, the baked cod, and the crab cakes, all were delicious. Really good quality of fish and good service.
Legal fish bowl is a good option for a healthy lunch. Offerings such as raw zucchini noodles make healthy eating easy. At $14/bowl, before adding in a drink, it certainly isn't a place I'd go every day, though.
As a Celiac guy, this it's my spot for calamari and fish and chips. Bora is the server you must request. He is beyond what's expected.
Amazing seafood, always fantastic service. A step above. I've never been disappointed with this location.
Excellent lobster roll. Will try the warm version next time. The cold was good but flavor was overwhelmed by mayo sauce. Excellent service.
Had the mixed grill, and everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. It's a big restaurant, but the service is still really good and the food is excellent ... if a bit pricey.
Fish and vegetables were very oily, so much that we were disappointed, kids ravioli horrible clearly not made from scratch but from a frozen bag and at that not a good one. Service was good, but for the price we were very disappointed
Fresh, fast, what else you need for a seafood? If you are in a hurry just grab their bowls by the door. Fresh salad with seafood is very healthy and gives you energy in a hot summer day.
Nice, friendly staff. No line at 6:20pm. I ordered a custom bowl - everything tasted really fresh. Sweet potatoes, chickpea salad and the tomato cucumer sides were all very tasty. Easy to takeaway. Price was about what I expected, as portion size was large.
Excellent food. The fish tacos are a particular favourite
The freshest seafood, creatively prepared. Super friendly service. High prices, but with a splurge
Great selection to satiate most kinds of sea food craving. Typical American portions. Great food and lager.
We had two fish and chips, tea and coffee. Very well presented and good. Pleasant staff, we recommend this restaurant.
The line for ordering at the Legal Fish Bowl is a bit awkward and confusing, but service was quick for a weekday lunch. Food at the Fish Bowl and the main restaurant is excellent.
In the bright and spacious store, there is no air and you can use it safely even when the wind is popular. Lobster and clam chowder are also delicious, and pasta is recommended.
Good service, but the prices seem a bit too high for the quality of food.
Great place! Great food! Excellent service. A must go if you are in Boston.
Had another great experience at the Legal on Main St!
Week day lunch with work colleague. I ordered spicy fish and chips. Fried fish was very good. Onion rings very good. Coleslaw good. French fries just mediocre. Service was prompt and efficient and good. Ambiance functional and good. I appreciate cloth napkins. Overall good experience and I plan to return.
Always great food and service. Can accommodate gluten free diets.
The food was very good. Wife had lobster. I had wood grill combo which had 3 kinds of fish, scallops, and shrimp. Would go back again.
Syracuse University graduate, so I had to try. They have gone from a fish store to serving the entire Boston area with great chowda and lobsta! Fast, clean store, great tasting seafood!
Lobster here was out of this world. Reasonably priced and good service. Place feels a bit sports bar like in decor.
Super fresh, tasty food with surprisingly friendly and accommodating staff.
If you're used to SweetGreens, this has even better food, they also have veg/chicken options if you're not a fan of fish. It is a little pricey, a bowl will cost about $12-16 dollars, which around Kendall is not unheard of.
Solidly good seafood, but the large size and crowds make this restaurant not my favorite for Boston seafood.
Awesome staff, amazing food, great service. Highly recommend!
The restaurant is clean, food is good. You can get a wide variety of fishes.
The place itself was very clean, but being my first time trying a lobster I was not very impressed. Spending $50-60 on a lobster and potatoes that doesn't come close to filling you up. Plus the potatoes had this yogurt cream something on them that just tasted horrible.
Good food, don't expect clam chowder on a bread bowl tho :c
Takeaway bowl of rice with your own choice of veggies, add $5 for protein.
Taste quite good, manager is nice and staff is nice and efficient.
Chowder was flavorless and so hot it burned my mouth.
Ordered a lobster roll, never expected Market Price would be $32! Server claimed it's because it was a full lobster per sandwich. No way near that much meat was included.
Service was lackluster.
The best crab cakes I have ever tried and grilled scallops are very good. The place is a little bit pricey, however.
Every time I go to a Legal location now, I get a little more disappointed. There is so much expansion, the quality has really suffered. Aside from the chowder, which is still good, there is little to distinguish Legal from other run-of-the-mill seafood chains. The last time, my halibut and crab special tasted like something from Red Lobster's, but much more expensive. An institution no longer.
Very good food, courteous and quick service. Accepts dogs next to the terrace (not on the terrace directly)
We arrived here expecting so much more from all the locals. We did have to wait approximately 15 minutes with a page from the hostess. We were seated in a full dining room with customers and staff everywhere. After approximately 15 minutes of sitting without a greeting from our server or from anyone asking if we had anything to drink I went looking for the manager. The hostess had 20 questions when I asked for a server. The manager was standing at the hostess area and walked me back to our table ensuring he would have service over ASAP. I don't think the manager truly did anything since our server finally came and was oblivious of our complaint or extended waiting time. Will not return, food overpriced, taste mediocre and poor service.
Probably some of the cleanest and freshest seafood I've ever had.
Outstanding food, outstanding service, outstanding management! A wonderful evening!
Terrible service. Never once asked how our meal was. Had to ask for drink refills. Salmon was undercooked and rubbery. Chowder was good. Rolls hot and yummy.
Waiting for 45 minutes to get my food and it arrived cold. No excuses.
Legal Sea Foods locations do vary despite the overall formula: this one gets the formula right though great service and preparation.
Delicious seafood in Cambridge. Clam chowder is a must have for me here. Seafood trio platter was quite good.
overpriced for the portion size. kitchen staff seem as if they needed someone to hold their hands with every order.
nteresting experience being a vegetarian in a sea food place! I know! My group had a epicurean feast with stuffed lobster. Vegetarian options quite limited. Vegetarian Greek salad was delicious and was offered add on options. Added avocado on top!
Fresh and clean love the lobster the broccoli was to hard to chew and the rolls where hard the waitress was very nice great smile Warm and comfortable
Amazingly overpriced for the quality of the food. The decor and atmosphere is beautiful, but for $16 I would expect more than a small fried piece of fish and french fries that look like they were just dumped out of a grocery store bag. Service there is hit-or-miss. Most recently, we walked in when it wasn't busy over lunch, and had to ask if there was a problem with our food 40 minutes later. They comped us some dessert, which was nice, but it was frustrating to be ignored for so long. This is a Boston area staple for sure, but I'm sad they can get away with such mediocrity.
Been there lastly on December first and was greeted warmly and to my surprise they had a special that day for Thu raw bar
Legal seafood has its reputation for a reason and is justifiable, very good seafood. Getting into the Long Warf location is challenging especially with a 2 year old who doesn t love waiting. We were staying in Cambridge and we just needed reliable seafood and so Legal was it. We were seated immediately which was a plus but I will admit the location lacked the hustle and bustle of the city which I like. We had a very nice server who was attentive and quick.
My Italian wife adores her seafood and opted for the Cioppino and she loved it! I even had some of the shrimp she couldn t finish and I agree, delicious. I came with my mind set on a big cold lobster roll, but was lured to try something new and have it HOT. Boy was this a great decision! All the lobster I would have had to work out of the shell is all done and on the classic roll/bun and covered in butter. This was fantastic and I will never look at lobster rolls the same way again.
Though the price was rather steep for my wife and I, I do like that the Kids meal was reasonably priced. I wish we could have been more adventurous with a local gem, but when it comes to Legal, you know you won t go wrong.
It's a bit pricey, but the poke is decent. There is a nice selection of toppings like seaweed salad, kimchi, and various veggies. There are also many options for the base (other than white rice), so you can even get zoodles (zucchini noodles) if you're keto or trying to reduce carb intake or really like zucchini.
On street parking can be tough here but a great chain seafood restaurant that is known for their clam chowder among other things.
Service to order was very slow at bar with 3 bartenders and a not too busy week night.
Ok, 15 bucks might be a little steep for a pokey bowl, but that's par for the course in Cambridge and the quality is REALLY good and the staff knows how to handle a crowd. Anyway, it's attached to Legal Seafood, so you know everything is fresh. It's also great that you have the option to customize anything on the menu or build your own bowl from scratch.
Wonderful for a business meal. Lunches can be affordable.
Great place for lunch! Big portions and good fish! Really nice personnel, specially the Mexican gentleman... he is the kindest person ever!
Despite looking like a group of ragged college students (we had decided to stop in after the Garment District's college event), the hostess & employees were all polite and courteous! I've always loved going to Legal Sea Foods and I'm glad the experience was joyful for my friends despite feeling out of place with our attire. Our server was wonderful, she was an older woman (her name escapes me) and she made sure to get one of my friend's gluten allergies straight. The food was also delicious as always. The Haddock Imperial was amazing and the lobster bisque superb as usual!
Excellent quality and choices of dishes, great interior design and very courteous service.
