They are super accommodating for gluten free guests. There GF spicy fish and chips is worth the trip!

Legal is predictable and reliable but we were disappointed with this visit. To start, we didn't find a single wine we liked amongst the 2 white flights we tried-so we didn't order a bottle. The bartender didn't even ask why. We sat at the bar, and both TVs were both tuned to some corn toss tournament, even though the Red Sox were playing (It might have been a rain delay but couldn't one TV show something with broader appeal?) I asked the bar tender for rolls after we ordered and he said "Sure", then did everything chore imaginable and avoided eye contact. We asked the runner delivering our appetizers for rolls and side plates and she seamed offended, but she did bring them. Random people kept walking in at random times, carrying their own food, and sat down to eat at the same table. (Except for two of them who sat at the bar.) Eventually, they'd randomly pick up their dishes and walk off. I have no idea who they were, but they weren't customers. When our glasses were absolutely dry, we had to request water refills 3 different times. I don't know what to say-if you go here I guess you should not sit in the bar.

Nice fancy place for a dinner with family or friends. Not many vegan options as expected. Offers a good house salad.

Legal Sea Foods is always a nice experience. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the food is consistently good.

Terrific selection of seafood, expertly prepared to order, with equally terrific service.

Went there yesterday for dinner. The food is not bad, I'd say it's mediocre. But we had a terrible experience thanks to the extremely rude manager. I'm still appalled by just how rude he was. Other than being rude he was unhelpful. This was our first time at legal seafoods and definitely our last.

One of the oysters we got tasted like actual garbage, the drinks took forever, and the entrees were incredibly mediocre. This place is one of the worst seafood spots in Boston, go literally anywhere else

Food was average. We had a large group which slowed things way down. May try again on different terms.

Nice salmon and shrimps. Excellent sauces and ingredients.

I know this is a local institution, however i find the food rather generic and not always well prepared.
In a town known for its seafood, Legal does not quite stack up.

I ate their clam chowder, and it tasted great. It seems a little small, but it's packed with seafood, so it's definitely worth the $10. I would definitely recommend this place to another person.

I was expecting a small portion of fish and chips but got a mega portion that I split with my girlfriend. They also have an amazing whiskey flight or you can get 3 shots of whiskey for $11 when a normal shot of whiskey is $11 on their menu. I will definitely take another trip back.

Nice place to have lunch but the food was not impressive compared to how much you pay.
I got the chef's special salmon with hinet mustard and fried bokchoy. salmon was nice and medium. but the souce was too heavy that saturates your taste buds. it is not buttery, it is not sweet it is not bitter. just confused. bokchoy was fried. ok great idea. it was crips but too heavy and grisy. next time maybe i should give a shot to their crabcake sandwich.

On vacation with my wife and 6 month old son, had seen this place many times on tv and thought i would try it out. When i saw the location across from the water i knew instantly there was no way i was getting out of there w/o spending $125+ for two people. What i didn't expect was the missteps. I asked for a cocktail sauce that never came. With the regular calamari we asked for a side of the spicy sauce the other calamari was tossed in, we recieved a bowl of peppers which didn't come out until after our dinners arrived, 10+ minutes after the appetizer reached the table. The waitress blamed 'poor communication by the kitchen' as the excuse. I ordered a steak combo, was never given a steak knife. There were other things i don't have room to list on this post. Little things but when you're spending top dollar you expect at least above average. Not worth it, i won't go back on next vaca. PS. Parking garage was $33 for 70 minutes of parking. Smh

The place is nice in terms of decoration but the service is not to its level. The hostess was not emphatic , not even greeting the customers , the food tasteless and in addition.... very expensive.

I can't find anything wrong with the food or the service here. The seafood is just great. Although it is a bit pricey, the seafood is worth every penny. The only part that I don't like is the attitude of the hosts. Everytime we go there they ask if we have reservations, even when the place has lots of empty tables. Then the hosts behave like they are doing us a favor by sitting us at a table. Everytime. If I had a reservation, I would tell you that I have one. No need to be condescending about it.

Really good Lobster Bisque, steamers, and oysters. Pleasant service; nobody judging you for getting tipsy at noon.

Here is the thing, don't get me wrong. This is a really nice upscale place. But there is nothing unique about it, when compared to the chain of Legal Seafoods. The decor is modern, the servers are attentive. The food is really delicious, loved the crab dip. But it too me feels like a sterile, straight laced place. I feel l am going there for the name and prestige, not for the uniqueness per se. And I know a lot of people enjoy that, and that is great. For me, it really didn't leave an impression. Would I go back? Probably, but not anytime soon.
4 appetizers, 2 bottles of wine, 2 cocktails, 3 main dishes came out to be a little over $300.

I eat lobster and all the shellfish. A must see in Boston!

Best calamari anywhere, period. Lobster roll was great. Tuna tacos were amazing too. Impeccable service and atmosphere.

It can be great and poor, depending on the location of the restaurant. like for example i love the ones in Cambridge and the Harborside cause of their professional unrushed service along with great tasting food and alcohol, but the one in Prudential is just terrible mostly cause of poor customer service, they want you be in and out fast. Overall i love Legal, it always has amazing fresh seafood, although at high price, your taste buds will thank you for a very long time

A great place for crab cakes! The decor makes the place come off as being way too upper-class --- I think they would do really well if they had similar spots that had lower prices and were a little less pretentious.

Ok food, ok drinks and ok staff. What you would expect from a typical chain restaurant

Chowder and lobster roll. Can't Suresh to anything else but the chowder is solid, esp if you have someone from our of town, take them here. Lobster roll is better with just butter.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I work in kendall square and stopped by for lunch at legal fish bowl. Within 3 hours of eating the salmon poke bowl I got very sick. The food posioning was so bad it lasted 3 days and landed me in the ER, requiring multiple IV bags, antibiotics, and IV nausea and pain relief. I have never been this sick in my life.

I had a great salmon pokebowl (I recommend the spicy sauce it comes with on the side). The service was friendly when I asked questions. The clam chowder was just good. The lemonade is fresh and quite potent. It wasn't too busy and the big screen TVs were nice for me while eating alone. The fishtank would be nice for kids if you brought them.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They were very careful and professional when discussing allergy options. Very fresh seafood too.

It was a good place 40 years ago, it is still a very good place now - try the lobster

Fantastic service and really good salmon. A Boston / New England classic.

The waitress was very helpful. She quickly ran through recommendations and brought the initial drinks and bread soon. The wait time for the actual food was surprisingly short, and it was good.

Mediocre poke. Service is alright. The seat is extremely uncomfortable,not spine friendly at all. Won't come back.

Had a fantastic meal tonight. Mine was a filet mignon with rice and broccoli. Our waitress was fantastic. I would go back. I started eating before I took the picture of my meal.

A really nice appetizer of seared tuna was ruined by drowning it in an overly salty sesame chili vinaigrette - have it on the side. The Caesar salad dressing was too salty. 4 glasses of water just to rebalance. Great service though

This is where you can grab a good cup of chowder and a lobster roll or drinks in a great atmosphere.

I got there at that awkward time between lunch and dinner service. My food was great and the staff were very nice. However, I did feel like like it was pricier than expected.
