We bought a a model home, in Allen TX (Twin Creeks, walnut springs) purely based on Landon homes reputation as a builder, this was a huge mistake, what we received was shoddy construction, it seems like no one carried out any type of quality control-we have complained a few times and were given a run around for 3+ months by Trent and after 3 months Jackie told us to contact the vendors directly ourselves (the issues are serious and many, one of them being the staircase and the game room railing which is shaking and we have two small kids under 7years of age)-the vendors are not interested in responding to us!!! all our neighbors have similar complaints-I would not be purchasing a Landon home again

After dealing with the sales team of Elmer and his daughter, everything has gone down hill since. The warranty department does sub standard work that the have to redo over and over. They start a project and leave your home half done. My media room had to be redone 3 times, and its falling apart again.
I had a contract to do underground drainspouts and they forgot to install them. Now that the driveway was already installed, they will not honor my contract I paid extra for.
Warranty system and managers are quitting, being fired, or inept.
Price paid is for top tier house, but crews building and doing repairs are sub standard. They want to half do patch work just enough to get you out of warranty period so future repair is on you.
Lots of repairs made to my home and neighbors homes have to be redone, or done like gas station worker was doing it and go to a reputable and quality builder to keep of your largest purchase.
The sales team and construction folks don t communicate well, not very responsive at all. After several attempts to get information I basically have to get my realtor to go hound them for details. I would just warn buyers to clarify everything, get everything in writing, ask lots of questions about dimensions, what is and what is not included in your home. These people make alot of oral representations about what you re purchasing, some of which that do not translate to your actual purchase. Having said that, the sales manager we worked with, Tommy, is perhaps their saving grace. Despite all of the customer service issues, they have a beautiful community with beautiful homes at competitive prices.
Post construction, there was tons of issues with our home. Our HVAC didn t work for over a week when we moved in. This is after our inspector pointed the issue out in their report and it still wasn t fixed. There were so many things that should have been caught in the QA or punch out that didn t. Part of our attic didn t have insulation for example. Lots of poor work from sub contractors. When we moved in our bath tub was cracked, we had a stained front porch with a botched repair, Landon is refusing to remedy any of this to a new home standard. The front walk way is already starting to crack, we notified Landon, they ignored it true to form. They splatted concrete on my home, you guessed it, did nothing to fix it. If you buy a home here make sure you get a 3rd party inspection.
On top of all of this, Landon has extremely poor site management of their subcontractors. The sub's frequently litter in our yard, daily almost. They have hooked their equipment up to our power outlets and stole our electric. I frequently come outside where my daughter plays to find rusted nails sticking out of wood planks, rusted rebar protruding into our side of the property and many other safety hazards.
The moral of all this, the builder you chose matters. Research this company and you will quickly see the reviews that are positive have no substance to them leaving you to wonder if they are legitimate. The negative reviews however are substantial.
We are very pleased with our experience of buying a new John R Landon home. Our construction manager Greg Fischer was very professional and made the transition into our new home very enjoyable. Jacki Medley, the warranty manager, has been wonderful helping put the finishing touches to our home in order to make it perfect. She responded to every one of our requests swiftly and was able to get things fixed in a timely manner. We are excited for our new home.
Very unprofessional and unethical builder. We signed the purchase agreement (#167-322-1) with Landon Homes for their Lexington Community in Frisco, TX on 01/02/2021. In contract our price was $685,000 for the stucco elevation. Today, 01/11/2021 I got a call from the sales rep saying that we can't entertain your contract because material cost went up and new price is $745,000. He also mentioned that they didn't execute our contract yet so we are not legally bind to entertain the price we offered. I literally asked him while signing our contract that we won't get the price increase after this as we see that you guys keep increasing price. He told us that you are signing the contract on current pricing and its just that we can't execute it now because we have a limit to sell houses per month but you will get this price. Its very frustrating and saddening for us because we passed on a perfect pre-owned home just because this house will be new and built to our taste.
Sorry to say the quality of Homes Landon builds leaves a lot to be desired. Constantly hear complaints from people living in homes built for more than 3-5 years by Landon that start having issues related to poor workmanship, plumbing, quality of woodwork, pathetic warranty service, etc.. I won't recommend to buy a home build by Landon. They charge like a Top quality builder but have a long to go to start building like one. They seem to cut corners in every aspect of home construction.
We had a very pleasant experience with Landon homes. They made us feel very easy through out the process even tough we are first time home buyers. They didn't miss even a single thing in the home that we mentioned. Their sales manager Tanya Smith is a great energetic lady who gave weekly updates about home and made the process even more smoother. We heard concerns from our friends who bought homes from other builders but for us it was a smooth ride.
We signed for our home in 2018 and occupied it in early 2019. While we had good experience with JR Landon builders, we were a little skeptical about warranty services. Jacki was fantastic and professional in all our interactions and was diligent in tracking all issues to closure. Appreciate all of your support Jacki.
