Taj Lake Palace is a luxury hotel, which is an exo...

Taj Lake Palace is a luxury hotel, which is an exotic abode of 83 beautiful rooms and suites featuring white marble walls, managed by Taj Group of Hotels, in picturesque city of Udaipur. It is situated on the island of Jag Niwas in Lake Pichola and its natural foundation spans across 4 acres. The hotel runs a speed boat which transports tourists through a jetty from the City Palace Complex to the hotel. It has also been voted continuously over the years as the most romantic hotel of India.

The bright and striking moonlight, the picturesque lake side, what could the princess resist. Maharana Jagat Singh II, the 62nd successor of royal Mewar dynasty, used to have moonlight picnics with the ladies of Zenana on this beautiful lake island. It was only till the time his father found out about it and closed this option for him. Therefore, he decided to make his own palace. It was built between 1743- 1746 AD and the palace was named as Jag Niwas, after the name of its founder.
The palace was erected facing east, so as to allow its inhabitants to pray to the Surya, the Hindu Sun God, at the crack of dawn. The successive rulers used this exotic palace as their summer resort, holding their regal durbars in its courtyards. The upper room of the palace is a perfect circle and is about 21 feet in diameter. Its floor is studded with black and white marbles. Also, the walls are ornamented with niches and adorned with arabesques of different colored stones. There are many courtyards present inside the premises with fountains, open terraces, beautifully done gardens. Many rooms by names of Ajjan Niwas, Bada Mahal, Phool Mahal, Khush Mahal and Dhola Mahal are there in Lake Palace. These rooms are exquisitely done with pink and green lotus leaves, glass work, unique paintings and carved arches.

As the years gone by, this palace started to lose its charm. But, Maharaja Bhagwat Singh, who was the last ruler of the Mewar, decided to convert this palace into Udaipur s first luxury hotel as it was the only way visible through which the palace could be preserved for years to come. This beautiful palace was turned into a luxury hotel in 1971. Jamshyd D. F. Lam of the Taj Group greatly helped in the restoration of the original property with his works and experiences. He was also the first General Manager of the Taj Lake Palace & the youngest at that time in India. Later in 2000, a second restoration was also undertaken.
At present, this hotel is placed among the top 10 luxurious hotels of the world. This breathtaking palace cannot be described in words and just one look at this heavenly creation will take your breath by its charm and beauty. The quiet Pichola Lake and the tranquil locations around will give one that needed break from the hustle bustle of the city. Taj Lake Palace is also a perfect movie location. Famous movies shot here are namely James Bond Octopussy, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela to name a few.

Pichola Lake is located in the heart of Udaipur city. It is one of the oldest and the largest lakes of Udaipur. The lake is enveloped by lofty palaces, temples, bathing ghats and elevated hills on all its sides. In the southern part of the lake is Machhala Magra hill and one can see glimpse of Eklinggarh Fort from here and in north-east corner is Mohan Mandir. Lake Palace and Jag Mandir are located on the Jag Island.

The final leg of our honeymoon, before Covid-19 took off and I speak on behalf of both of us when we say this was by far the best experience we have ever had!!! A truly fitting end to our amazing honeymoon. We were at Tal Mahal Palace in Mumbai shortly before travelling to Rajasthan and we thought that was amazing but this took it to a whole new level. it should definitely be one of the seven wonders of the world! It is absolutlely incredible and they treat you like King and Queen. The sheer beauty of this palace is breathtaking and we're glad to have decided to add this onto our itinerary. A truly special place and that is an undestatement :))))

The stay was exemplary. Deepshikha was awesome. The room was excellent. We were treated like king and queen. The hygiene and sanitisation is the best we found in the world. I would like to congratulate Mr Mohanchandran for the immense hard work on the property during the pandemic. This is the most secured Hotel comparing to Udaivilas and The Leela Palace. We would tell everyone to book this hotel only as you will feel most secured here. The staff also follows all the standard so that the guest feels secured.
Waah Taj and Tajness.
Thank you.

The ethereal Taj Lake Palace affords guests the pleasures of India's bygone princely era. Over the centuries, it has played host to royalty, poets and writers and the Maharana's guests. Trappings like a welcoming vintage car ride to the charming city of Udaipur, the Jiva Spa boat, royal butlers, recipes from traditional Mewari cuisine and arrival by boat - all little facets that make this former pleasure palace the celebrated luxury hotel it is today.

Mind blowing!! What an experience! Words fail to describe the beauty and uniqueness of this property... A must visit, an item for your bucket list..! There is no one who comes close to Taj in hospitality and they truly understand what hospitality means.. It's not everyday that you are made to feel like royalty and Lake Palace ensures that you are comfortable and well looked after.. rooms are grand and the interiors of each room are different.. bath tubs swimming pool and jacuzzi will keep your kids happy.. the restaurants are excellent and the food is to die for!

There were many words that you could not stand to ...

There were many words that you could not stand to hear and finally only the names of places had dignity. Certain numbers were the same way and certain dates and these with the names of the places were all you could say and have them mean anything. Abstract words such as glory, honor, courage, or hallow were obscene beside the concrete names of villages, the numbers of roads, the names of rivers, the numbers of regiments and the dates.

As if rising out of legend, Lake Palace dominates the center of Lake Pichola. The palace is one of India's most famous and luxurious hotels. It was built in the middle of the 18th century by prince Maharana Jagat Singh II as a summer palace, where he famously entertained many guests and lovers.

The palace was built on a natural rock foundation on the Jag Niwas Island. When the tide is low, the island can be seen. When it is high, the palace seems to be floating on the water.

After 2 centuries of serving as a private resort for the descendants of the prince, a place for them to experience ultimate luxury, the palace was converted into a luxury hotel in the 1960s.

Today, guests are invited to enjoy the lavish interior and the royal butler service that are remanants of a long gone era. Even the shuttle service by luxury boat adds to the experience.

It has 83 rooms and suites, all renovated with wooden forniture, silk upholsteries and a luxurious design.
