The coaches of LOCR made my son feel welcome and valuable, and as a middle schooler, that is gold! He's really had an amazing experience with LOCR and I expect will continue with them throughout high school. Any parent looking for a place for their child ages 12 - 18 to exercise in a supportive team environment, should check them out. You won't be sorry.

Our son rowed for LOCR for all four years of high school. Once he started, he was hooked on rowing for life. The friendships he made and the sense of camaraderie and community during his rowing experience played a huge roll in his successful educational and social development. He now rows for a major college team and has been blessed with friendship, travel and fitness through his rowing adventures. I would highly recommend the LOCR Youth Rowing experience for any high school aged kids that seek a complete social, athletic, and community experience.
My family has been part of LOCR for over two years and we have never regretted a moment. This is more than a team. This is a community. My children are not only having a great time competing at local, regional, and national levels but are part of a community that supports our family goals surrounding, health, leadership, compassion, commitment, teamwork, and friendship. The LOCR kids and adults alike make this program something very special and we are proud to be a part of it.
Lake Oswego Community Rowing has provided a family atmosphere in a competitive team setting for my two teen rowers. The coaching staff all work together to provide a consistent message to Student Athletes: through hard work, all things are possible. It is a rigorous schedule, but both of my children have been all the better off for joining LOCR.
My children and I have been a part of LOCR since 2009, when my 2 daughters and son joined the Youth Rowing Team. We had just moved here from across the country - a difficult transition for three teenagers. However, once the kids tried rowing, they quickly fell in love with the sport and instantly "connected" with the close-knit LOCR Youth Team. In fact, their enthusiasm was so great, it led me to join the adult rowing team last year at age 52! Rowing is such a great all-around conditioning sport -- and it's something you can continue doing your whole life. I think what sets LOCR apart from other Portland youth rowing clubs is that it fosters a fun, inclusive, "family" atmosphere -- while simultaneously providing outstanding opportunities to compete at local, regional, and national levels. LOCR has been such a big part of our lives these last five years, and we are grateful to be members.
My son has enjoyed his experience with LOCR very much. I can truly say that the energy and support the coaches pour into him are making him a better person. I completed the level 1 "Adult-Learn-to-Row" class last season and will definitely complete level 2. It was a great experience and the early mornings on the were stunning!
I'm one of the coaches, but in the beginning I was a volunteer helping coaches and being part of the master team. For me was a great restart with my passion after 13 years without practice on the water. I found a wonderful atmosphere between rower and with the entire community. Great place where to practice rowing!!!
