Its a lovely place for a wedding venue. Good food and the staff worked hard although the rooms in that wing were a little perfunctory for the price. And we totally missed the aircon behind the chair/curtains, no instructions were available and the room information system / tablet was broken. The hot room was a serious problem for us.

Very nice and posh. Lovely place!
Got the impression they didn't understand that people wanted to toast with a non alcoholic drink though - 3 people asked me if I wanted fizz, and I asked for something else and nothing came. Other than that, absolutely lovely!

Stunning hotel. Stayed over night for an exclusive wedding in July 2018 and everything was absolutely perfect. You couldn't ask for a better wedding venue!

Beautiful hotel, very cosy bar and cocktail lounge, great food and lovely helpful staff. The grounds and surrounding area make for a lovely autumn walk and the hotel has plenty of posh wellies lined up by the fire in the reception ready to be borrowed. They also have a few half decent mountain bikes available to borrow for free. But you don't want those, what you want (if you're up for a laugh) is to borrow the tandem bicycle that's also available. It was such good fun and the smiles you get from dog walkers as the two of you wobble around the forest made my day. Definitely recommend.

I booked a room here for my Daughter's hen party, I went through the booking with a lovely, professional lady called Hannah who kept me fully informed about the booking process including any food allergies and whether there was disabled access as one of the guests was in a motorised wheelchair. The private room we had was absolutely lovely, the staff very kindly put up the decorations I took over the day before and they were very attentive on our arrival and throughout our afternoon tea visit. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented sandwiches, scones and delicious cakes and tea and coffee. We had great weather so we had drinks in the perfectly manicured gardens. We loved it here.

I went to a wedding reception here and it was a lovely venue. The room was well decorated and looked amazing. The staff were friendly and very quick.
The only issue we had was the lack of lighting around the drive up to the hotel and within the carpark. It was not a major issue, but made it difficult to see where we needed to go in the dark.
Overall a great place and I would consider staying there in future.

Due to housing issues we spent two weeks at lainston. We could not have asked for more the staff were amazing from reception to the restaurant/bar and even down to housekeeping a special mention to Angel (bar)and Diogo (reception) who were both very attentive and nothing was to much trouble for them. All the rooms have fantastic decor and attention to detail is outstanding, personal favourite of mine was chapel and oak. The setting of the house is truly spectacular and the dog loved the acres of land he could explore in. Being here for two weeks we certainly got to sample all the food which did not disappoint, personal favourite of the husband was the pickled onions!! We definitely will be coming back as nothing is to much trouble for any of the staff. Keep up the hard work you all do an excellent job.

The service we received when we held a family wedding at Lainston House was wonderful. The staff were pleasant, the rooms clean and well maintained - with many of the luxuries of home provided as part of the room.
The barn area where the main reception was held was immaculate and well prepared, and the associated hotel falconry incorporated the birds wonderfully into the service.
The grounds are also beautiful, expansive and many rooms give you a great overview of them.
I'd visit again for a social function or overnight stay, certainly.

Lovely venue but expensive. Also, staff seem to charge whatever they feel like charging. I was charged different prices for the same drink on numerous occasions. When asked for a receipt the staff just provided one that said "beverage" followed by what they'd chosen to charge.

It is a amazing hotel that is a lovely place to get away although it is expensive it is totally worth the visit. Plus every room is decorated differently and every meal & drink is sure to please/ make you happy. The hotel can also be used as a wedding venue and is sure to please a bride and groom plus there are a range of places in which the bride and groom can take photos.

I recently ran a corporate training event and outdoor evening activity at Lainston House, and I am incredibly impressed by the staff at this hotel.
The receptionist Christina was extremely accomodating and friendly. Roberto in the bar was very attentive, friendly and professional.
James made sure that the training and meals ran smoothly throughout. Ben, the Head Groundsman, spent several hours setting up the the area we needed for the fire walk event.
The restaurant staff were all impeccable in their service and attention to detail.
It's rare to find such a beautiful venue, it's even rarer to find such a professional, friendly and attentive team of staff.
General Manager of this hotel - I applaud you!

Came for a couple of nights. Had a wonderful dinner in the evening. Brought our teenage son who had a room next to ours. Also brought our dog. Wellies to borrow for walls, doggie treats, bowls etc. Our son had room service while we ate in the dinning room one night. Wonderful service, food and beautiful surroundings. Breakfast amazing. Beautiful grounds, perfect for children of all ages. Roaring fire and amazing welcome for all of us, especially our dog. They really are dog friendly!!!! Will definatly recommend and have been back twice.

I attended a conference at Lainston House last week and must say I loved it. The conference was in the old barn and the day was finished off with an amazing "Great British Bake off" style baking experience.
I am so impressed that we have short listed this venue for our Franchise Conference at the end of the year.

I can't say enough kind things about Lainston House and their entire team. We used the space for corporate meetings and the team was SO helpful and easy to communicate with even when planning the trip from overseas. We used a few different rooms and found the space to be great for our group and purposes. It's such a cool, British, country house and the level of service is phenomenal. We also are lunch here every day and the food was stellar. We stayed overnight elsewhere, so I can't speak the the lodging rooms, but I would expect they are top notch.

I have to say this is a beautiful home built around the 1600s very interesting , and has a lovely feeling about it . But what completely throws me is finding out that it is being run as a five star hotel I have stayed in five star hotels four star hotels three star hotels all the way down to 1 star hotel, and I have no idea how this has been given a five star hotel rating, I can only imagine the wombles gave it that rating walls on acid apart from when I entered the hotel there was no warm greeting in fact I probably could have burgled the place without being noticed lol then I found the food to be of standard rating due to the fact that my fish and chips which I ordered was obviously a pre-frozen fish which you would never get in a five star hotel. Even better my mayonnaise came in a Hellmann s jar LOL followed by my red sauce in a jar also and when I asked for bread-and-butter I was told we don t really do that LOL now I want to be fair here and say the food was good the hotel was beautiful but please don t expect a five star hotel as this is definitely not that and please tell the staff to smile they are not on death row LOL

Great room, old fashioned feel but with modern conveniences. Enjoyed the grounds, went on the tandem bike and a walk, saw the falconry birds. Felt like a real 5* experience. Ate out in Winchester as restaurant looked a bit posh and reviews weren't great (small portions big prices)

My wife and I were guests at a small family lunch party.
Orders were taken at 12.30.
Unfortunately the menus also included the prices...extremely bad form for guests.
Service was interminably slow.
When the pork arrived, it was very fat and cold.
The crackling did not crackle and would have tested the dentition of a T. Rex.
The coffee never did arrive .
Nearly four hours after arrival we departed, sadly disillusioned
This was not the experience that we had been led to expect

Terrible experience. First night the safe broke at 1am with excessive beeping waking whole family up. Had to call reception twice for someone to come up. Second night there was loud music until midnight. We were unable to sleep and our younger one was crying to go home so we had to go back home at 11pm. Our family break was ruined. The manager also did not resolve this issue well, we are very unhappy with the service and attitude.
If you want a peaceful stay forget about this hotel. Find something else.
