Extremely beautiful property and amazingly friendly staff. It's so good to see people who truly care about our furry friends working with them! The staff were careful in putting our current fur baby and Elvis together so that they had a pleasant first meeting. The entire experience and process was wonderful.
They are very caring and take great care of everything. There are so many animals out there they have alot to deal with.
Great place, adopted our cat from them two years ago and couldn't be happier.
Dogs and cats are microchipped and are up to date on shots.

The Cat Cottage is absolutely amazing, especially the catio. I definitely recommend if you're looking to adopt, but it left me wanting to volunteer just to spend time with all the sweet, little kitties.
You must put in an application on their site first for a pet you wish to visit with, so we were disappointed when we visited since we could only freely look at cats, but it's understandable.
Well run, well organized animal shelter. The volunteers and staff genuinely care about the dogs, cats and other animals under their care. They are a great resource for those interested in finding a pet and learning how to care for that pet.

Very easy to work with. Got my first adopted baby from them in February. I will be back for more, but don't tell my husband. Lol
I also dealt with Nichole about a cat that I was interested in. She let me know I needed to fill out an application online, which she approved the next day. I was able to pick up my cat that night at Petsmart. His name was Bud but I quickly changed it to Castiel(Cas). He's very loving, though we are having some trouble with him and the dogs but we are working on that.
Animal Aid is. Wonderful place. It gives animals the gift of love, life, and a home. Animal aid saves animals and has a non-kill adoption process.
Called around 7 times, different hours of the day, different days. Trying to find a no kill shleter for a cat and her kittens. Finally got in touch with them earlier this morning. Did as they asked, sent photos of all animals. Still no response and I'm running out of time trying to find a genuine place to send these kittens.
We adopted our little Rosie from this wonderful shelter. They were so kind and caring throughout the whole process and they truly care for these animals. They often ask for updates and pictures of our girl to see how she is doing. Price to adopt/ spay was around $200 which is great! If we want another pup we are definitely adopting with AAA again!
I don't recommend this shelter to adopt from. I was lied to about what breed my dog is. The adoption process was fairly quick, which I should have known this was suspicious. The dog I have now is not as described. She has a lot of issues. Would adopt locally after this.
Animal Aid for Acadiana is the best thing to happen in this area. Animal abuse is still a major problem in rural areas where dogs are often chained outside , without adequate shelter, clean water & infrequent feeding.
Meaux was out in the country alone "protecting" chickens. We could hear him barking and howling at night. Thanks to AAA we were able to rescue him and give him a chance for finding a forever home. Thanks to everyone at Animal Aid for Acadiana for your generous and courageous work!

Was in contact with the cat coordinator Nicole in regards to a cat that our children fell in love with and fit perfect for our family..... we began the process and filled out adoption app even meet with the coordinator and was told we would be called that afternoon to pick her up.... after never being called my family returned the next morning excited, only to find out that the cat had been brought to petsmart for adoption and that supposedly someone else had turned in an app before us and they were picking her up there. We rushed over to petsmart to verify this and see others available. Once arriving was avoided by the coordinator and she was very rude and disrespectful. Needless to say we left without a loving cat for our family which devastated our children. Now 5 days later the cat that was supposedly adopted and being picked up is still available. We have found a loving cat that fits perfect for our family by NO HELP from lafayette animal aid and after the treatment we recieved will NEVER recommend this facility to ANYONE........
So these guys are not the worst shelter, but they certainly aren't the best. The process was a little chaotic to adopt our puppy. The lady we originally talked to was super nice and informed us they would have Boston Terrier puppies that needed to be adopted. We quickly told her we wanted one, even if they were mixed, we would like to have one.
Well, fast forward to today and it's clear we did not get a boston terrier anything. The dog is an American Pit Bull Terrier. I am not 100% sure if they knew, and they baited and switched. We love our dog and we are glad to have her, she's a great puppy.
Luckily I have owned a pit bull before, but for new dog owners that would've been a major headache. Not only are these dogs banned from some apartments but they can be very temperamental with newbie owners.
Point being do I dislike this place? No. Do I think they sort of knew what they had, yes. They need to take care with animals that could be considered aggressive breeds before handing them over to people who may or may not have experience with these dogs.
We still love her and she's been a great dog, it just would've been nice to know what she truly was before getting her.
I loved helping walk the dogs! They were all so nice, the people and the animals! I would definetly reccomend going on Tuesdays to walk and help out with the dogs.

Thank you Elizabeth for taking poor little mama dog! I e-mailed Elizabeth to see if she could take this poor mama dogs with five puppies that were dumped off at a High School, unfortunately someone had already taken the puppies but Elizabeth took the mama! I'm very thankful for that! And this poor dog would not have had a chance and ya'll not toon her in! I already have nine rescue dogs so I did not need to take anymore! Anyway these folks are great!
We saw a digital sign for a no kill shelter on I-49, re-routed our trip to locate, got there with 2 volunteers sitting there and told us o ly can view cats, appts to view dogs only. Visiting from 90 miles away, they said fill out a form and someone will be in touch...no thanks, well just keep searching.
I filled out the application online. The Animal Aid people called our veterinarian and was told of our recent devastating experience of having to put our dog to sleep. They then called me and were very caring, respectful, and kind. We were approved and I am going to pick up our new family member today. I am both excited and nervous, since I know I can never replace Pam, but my house is very empty and so am I. Perhaps this new doggy will help to fill the loss I am feeling, and will be a whole new chapter in our family. I highly recommend this facility.

The staff are so nice and helpful! The animals get their own rooms and roommates so you know they are well taken care of! I wish I could adopt them all!
I retract my last review. I received a call from Lela and she was very kind to explain the reason for dogs being in small crates. They are under the doctor's care for heart worm treatment.
We wanted a cat to add to our family so bad. We reached out to Acadiana Animal Aid to help us with our search. All of their animals were so well taken care of and just so darn cute that I actually ended up coming home with 2 cats. I am so thankful for Brooke and Sandra for making this possible. We couldn't be happier with our 2 fur babies. I had no idea cats could be so much fun. Bless the staff at Acadiana Animal Aid for their selfless endeavors to help these beautiful animals find loving homes one animal at a time. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. We are so thankful to have such a wonderful business part of our community!!!
Our rescue/adoption was not without certain difficulties, but to Acadiana Animal Aid s credit, they made the situation right, and we are ultimately satisfied with the outcome of our experience.
We got our current dog from Acadiana about a year ago. Great experience. The staff is so passionate about what they do and are very responsive. We love AAA so much that we are now fostering for them. On our 4th foster and intend to continue. They are great to work with and it is wonderful knowing we're able to help them help the dogs in need.
This place was great. we were looking at a dog at she showed us a different one that was a better fit and now we have her. I really have only have one complain. Our dog is a great dog and would never trade her but she sheds and the people here told us she wouldn t. we were clear we did not want a shedding dog but now we have her and it s working but I m a little upset they got it wrong though I m sure it was just a simple mistake.
This is not the place you want to go when you want to adopt a dog. The receptionist told me that get countless number of applications and they pair the dog that they think you want. There are two dogs I was interested in I really hope they get a good family. Just know that if you want to adopt one of their dogs be prepared to bring a curriculum vitae on you and your family
Volunteered to foster a puppy. They failed to inform me that she had health issues on the initial agreement. It wasn't until I picked up the animal and they game me multiple medications. They never told me what exactly was wrong with the animal. Shelter was difficult too get in contact with during the time I fostered the animal. Thankfully the pup was quickly adopted, but I had no information to give the new owner. I have adopted from another shelter and recommend others do the same.
Last year filled out volunteer application online, received an email months later. Filled out volunteer application again about 2 months ago in person, no response! I guess they do not need volunteers to give love and attention and care to the dogs
The staff was super sweet they tried their hardest to help the stray dog that I found but sadly they could not help as she was not friendly she was too scared of others I do not blame them one bit they tried to help even with all of this virus bs going on sadly the dog did have to be put to sleep but I hope one day that will not have to happen
