My first time here, I came with the family for their annual Luminations event and admission was free with 2 canned goods. The grounds are covered with lighted luminarias and it's a gorgeous site to behold. We enjoyed the live musical performances, story time for the kids and even a visit from Frosty the Snowman. The kids craft area was great and the little ones made snowflakes, tree ornaments and wrote letters to Santa. We topped the night off with some kettle corn and drinks they had for sale - truly a memorable evening.

I volunteered for Wildlands Water Quality Protection Lands, WQPL. A section of the City of Austin. Saturday, 23 Feb 2019 I helped Dave Jackson and his Interactive Cave exhibit at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. I made sure everyone enjoyed themselves while signing waiver forms prior to their Interactive Tour Experience!

We visited the Wildflower Center this past Saturday to attend a native plant symposium. It was our first time to visit and were amazed at how beautiful it is! The facility looks like it belongs in the landscape. Built from local stone, it is perfect for the hill country. It has water features everywhere. The entrance is reminiscent of Roman aqueducts with arches carrying water in a trough across the top. There is a grotto area where children can play behind a water fall. Every low wall has a planter box built into its top, so plants cascade down. In additional to how the facility looks, there were interesting gardens everywhere! We had a great time. I wish we lived in Austin so we could go more frequently and watch the gardens as they mature. I am a native plant person so also appreciate the center's great plant database that you can access online.

I had not been to the Wildflower center in years and I stopped by one afternoon and despite the ongoing drought I was surprised at how peaceful and well maintained the gardens were. A nice walk around the trails really helped bring down the stress levels and just appreciate the world around me.

What a gorgeous place to explore! I was here in March, and it was a little early for everything to be blooming, but still beautiful! Give yourself a couple hours to meander this beautiful property!

This is a beautiful arboretum/garden area. Walkways with most being shaded by trees. The movie on Lady Bird is very informative. The Wildflower Cafe is very good. Not to be missed. The store is much larger than it looks from the outside. Don't worry husband's there are plenty of benches outside in the shade

Forts and Cathedral of Oaks is definitely a fun place to climb, run and swing. The dinosaur creek is nice, but don't pass up the cool forts and swings. Even when the flowers arent in bloom, they've done a good job of adding extras so you can have fun with kids outdoor.

Beautiful park...escape from the city

Beautiful park...escape from the city

It's just the perfect sized park, not very big, but beautifully landscaped with local plants and flowers. It has a good education facility, a gift shop and cafe. You visit the park in 1.5 hours or relax there for a longer time.

We were super excited to visit the illuminations at the center expecting fun Christmas lightnings but when we got there, we were highly disappointed at the lame illuminations setup. Not worth the entry fee at all.

Gorgeous place to walk through and explore! So many different plants to learn about, and beautiful landscaping. Also an amazing place to host an event, as long as you put in notice well in advance! Definitely worth the drive out!

Great place to visit outside of Austin. Well-preserved and what I loved the most was the variety and and how well it is taken care of. Plenty of parking and great trails to explore variety of wild plants. The trails are quiet and peaceful. A great place to spend some quite time and explore. They have a nice gift.shop, restaurant and the restrooms are very clean and well maintained. There are couple of towers and great views, and fields. UT students go free and $2 discounts for students with a student ID. You can find staff on site who would be ready to answer questions.

The Wildflower Center is an Austin treasure. Of course it's great in the spring, but definitely worth checking out during all seasons of the year. There are trails for those who want to venture out, but the main grounds and gardens are great for those who don't feel like taking a hike. The biggest downside to the Center is that is was never meant to handle the masses of people who come for special events - the small parking lot is fine for regular days, but event days, the whole area is a madhouse, and you're lucky to park on the street a mile away, especially since you're competing with bikers on the Veloway for parking. Sometimes they offer a shuttle at one of the local schools - definitely take advantage if they do. For a calmer experience, come on a normal day and enjoy the peace, quiet, and beauty.
