This is an iconic spot and the location is the best you can get in La Jolla but the room we had wasn't the greatest and the bathroom was super small. I still think this is probably the best place to stay in La Jolla.

Great right on the coast. Old style with modern amenities. Customer service excellent. Stayed there a whole week. Local for many types of food each day and shopping. Don't really need to drive anywhere.

We were very disappointed in the hospitality and room quality. The room was poorly decorated, without the most basic amenities. It did not match the description on-line. We ordered room service one morning but there was no where to sit and eat. When we raised issues with the hotel manager, she made a modest adjustment in price for one night. It was still the most overpriced, worst value hotel we have ever experienced. The lack of hospitality was surprising for a hotel that pretends to be a 5*!experience. The visit was incredibly disappointing, especially since we got married in the hotel. We will never return nor recommend to family and friends.

Great time at a wedding in their garden area. Though it wasn't as private as I'm sure they wanted, it was still very nice and had great ocean views. The food was great as well, amazing salmon and scalloped potatoes!

Skip Coronado and The Del all together! La Valencia is a much better experience. Historic, beautiful, and an unbeatable view.

This is our favorite weekend brunch spot. I only wish there were more gluten free vegan options, but I make due with what they have so far, hoping that those options will grow in the future. Everyone we take here is always extremely pleased with brunch pricing and tasty food.

Can't go wrong at The Med!

Staff and manager were very nice but hallway and rooms smelled like the basement of an old church. Beds were cheap and hard as rocks. Pillows left my ear hurting for days. Place needs a complete asthetic overhaul, renovation and new beds. Decor of lobby is nice.

The view is gorgeous, the hotel is beautiful, friendly hotel staff as well, but the best thing is their honey and vanilla yogurt. It's the best yogurt I've ever tasted! No joke. Also, I just came here for brunch and didnt even stay in the hotel but that yogurt was worth the 5 stars.

Worse hotel experience I have ever lived. My wife and I were given a tiny room that smelled like mildew. Later that night we had to jump suddenly out of bed after realizing that the bed was crawling with bed bugs; some of these bugs were already dead and bleeding on the sheets. Unbelievable! We packed our things and left this disgusting place.

Lovely place to have a drink and food with your significant other, it is so romantic and staff are very friendly and accommodating. There's
Live flamenco guitarist playing on in Monday nights. A truly, classy place to go and enjoy a magical night.

Beautiful hotel with classic and beautiful decoration, the restaurant has spectacular windows on the beach, to spend a relaxed and pleasant time in the tourist bustle. Limited letter and prices according to the framework, but it's worth it.

It was our anniversary weekend we just wanted to get away and see the ocean...we had an ocean front room. The view out was great, but the hotel itself not so much. The housekeeping of the historic hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The paint is peeling, the walls are cracking! I stepped out on our rooms balcony and kind worried about the structure of it. Looked up and a huge piece of building material was just hanging down.
The musty odor of the hallways and rooms leaves a horrible impression.
When we requested to have the bed made and fresh towels, it was a normal option. When we returned to our room after a day of exploring the area we noticed that our dirty towels were folded and some were left in the towel rack we left them on?!
We loved the view but the hotel itself not at all. It is such a shame for this historic hotel not to be cared for.

Phenomenal gem of a place if you want enjoy your stay while in La Jolla. Staff is friendly and the place is vintage. Makes you feel relaxed all the time. Access to beach is easy via backdoor. Lot of place to eat around the area also. I enjoyed live music also that was playing at the front bar.

Treated like royalty makes the Hilton Cape Rey look and feel like a motel 6. If you're staying anywhere in San Diego make it the la Valencia hotel. You will not be disappointed. San Diegos self indulgence at its finest! Love you guys we will be back. Shout out to Bert and Luke and staff at the pool.

The hotel staff's attentiveness and friendliness were incredible. Everyone made us feel special. Bedding was plush and cozy. The hotel views are exceptional and I loved the overall hotel charm. Romantic and fabulous. We can't wait to return. Thank you La V!

When I check out of the hotel there was a major issue with my bill. It took way to long to correct and then the hotel charged over $800.00 of the mistake to my credit card. The room was prepaid. When I called for assistance they were rude at best, put me on hold and when I asked to speak to a manager I was disconnected. There were four of us with rooms for the night and not one of us was impressed.

This ok hotel in la Jolla there is not enough parking and it's very limited and valet guys are very bad not helpful all they want to make money they don't care about customer service and too expensive $600.00 per night for suite and I don't recommend it.

Beautiful hotel with tasty drinks and a rich history. It sits nestled on the hillside of La Jolla and provides a wonderful preserved and historic ambiance as it provides the charm of the past with the amenities and service that you would expect from a high end historic hotel.

Super friendly hotel in a lovely location, with really great views (recommend you book an ocean facing room if possible!). The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the property - valet, in room service, front desk... Everyone was making sure we had a great stay.

Matty was an excellent bartender. Nick and Jose were wonderful servers. Both were attentive and answered all questions asked. Chef Alex prepared a delicious dinner. I ordered the prime rib, medium.

The view...OMG...the view. We were enjoying dinner during sunset and it was breath taking. We sat in the restaurant.

Very enjoyable experience.

Do yourself a favor and don't ever hold a wedding here.
Parking is non existent and hard to find, so don't have more than 5 cars or Uber in.
The wedding venue was terrible. While it overlooked the Pacific in the distant, people were setting up their own free venues down in the park or on the beach. The outdoor dining was just above to the right and extremely noisy. The pool was right below and extremely noisy. No one from the hotel had bothered to test the lame sound system and you couldn't hear a thing. Not sure what was paid for the food but I had one of the 3 options that was totally bland and tasteless. A couple of people from the hotel were totally rude and while they asked how things were, they could have cared less to make any changes. Please bring your own chairs as they provided a grand total of 6 for the reception and people were left standing regardless of their age and health conditions. And please don't commit the great sin of bringing a very high end bottle of liquor to supply as a gift and toast your table. They'll threaten to cut off the entire group. Do yourself a favor a make plans for somewhere else. Fortunately it was a great day for the bride and groom and their friends and family.

Five stars for the Villa we stayed in last year for a local staycation. Excellent service and attention to detail. Restaurant and bar were great too. We have returned to eat several times. Highly recommend staying here or just stopping by for food and drinks. The restaurants have several events so check their website.

It was raining during our stay in the villa so we were sad not to have experienced the lovely looking pool but would return if they allowed us lay out and enjoy some drinks. I haven't asked about that yet.

My only complaint was that a Valet slipped the clutch in my car pretty bad at some point during our stay.

Great classic ambiance and architecture with great service, drinks and food. The bar lounge singing tenor was a real treat. He was from Portugal and sang a few Italian classics but mostly USA oldies like Sinatra. A great place to take your partner to for a fun evening out.

The first night was rough. We had a "Garden View" room but was really a street view and above the base speaker for the bar below. Very noisy. They did move us to another room for the rest of the stay. We loved the valet parking and was more than willing to pay and tip for the service. It was a nice place to stay and there were a lot of stairs but was worth it. The staff was great!

Went for lunch at the Valencia hotel today. Service was terrible, the menu was very limited. Didn t even have soup at lunch time when asked the waiter why don t they have soup her response was the vendors don t deliver or are out of business. COVID is the excuse for everything. I ordered a turkey sandwich which was so greasy it was appalling. To top it all they have 2desserts to choose from . We picked the lemon cake. What they served was a dry piece of cake the one you can get at Costco garnished with some berries. So so disappointing:
I would never go back to La Valencia for lunch. If they don t have vendors or staff just don t open your restaurant till things improve

La Valencia is a beautiful property that occupies a large section of the La Jolla Cove area. The lobby is gorgeous and the staff are very friendly. I find it amusing that some reviewers deduct points because the hotel looks and smells old. Folks - the property was built in 1926, it's supposed to look and smell old. The price to stay at this hotel is high - and it should be. You walk out the door and you are in the heart of La Jolla Cove. The history and ambiance are something you can't put a price tag on. Plus, the cost of maintaining a century-old property of La Valencia's magnitude is extreme. I gave it four stars, because it is beautiful and staying in it transports one to a romantic and bygone era. I deducted a star, because there are some small things they could do to improve the property without affecting the historic charm. Carpets in the rooms could be replaced and the pillows are not too great. I would also prefer a shower door that closes completely rather than the half-panel of glass that doesn't do a fabulous job of keeping the water from getting the floor wet. I highly recommend staying at La Valencia. This beautiful gem on the coast is a piece of high-class history that will hopefully continue to serve patrons like myself for decades to come.

This is reflective of my lack of stay and the customer service I received; I received information on a promo and was trying to book a suite for my wedding weekend. The site had issues, I called and a customer service agent disconnected me trying to pass me off to someone else, and when I called back, the new customer service agent said the promo expired 1 hour earlier. For a high end hotel, it is pretty low-class to run promos and treat customers in this manner...feels very "blue light special" if you ask me. Too many other options during a pandemic to treat good paying customers like this. Wish it turned out differently as I was hoping to book a brunch etc. for my wedding party ...

Dinner out in the patio was great! We had shrimp cocktail, hummus, crab cake. Then we had steak, mushrooms, salmon everything was excellent. The best part of our dinner was lava chocolate cake amazing! Ambiance is very enjoyable, ocean view and nice heaters to stay warm.

My stay at this hotel was bad all-around. Terrible service during check-in. The front desk person named Kingsley was extremely rude throughout the whole check in process. When I asked for his manager's name, he refused!! to give it to me. After finally getting it from somebody else, I complained about the check-in to the general manager, who was no better than the front desk person. After finally getting to the room, I discovered that the heater was not working. I was then offered a different room, where the heater wasn't working either. Finally, I was able to move to a room with a working heater. The hotel is really run-down and the service is even worse. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

We had our daughter's wedding at La Valencia last weekend. We loved working with Cathy De La Cruz as being from Dallas it was a destination wedding for us. Cathy graciously incorporated all our requests and delivered everything as promised. The staff, food and venue were perfect. I highly recommend working with Cathy and La Valencia for your wedding.
