... you will be complimented at the entrance, because you had a dog with you. Unfortunately we had to do this experience at almost all localities. So much for the topic: Jersey is very dog friendly!

My aim in here was to try the blackbutter at their cafe as it was recommended in the Jersey guide brochure. I arrived there before 10AM but they opened at 10:10am and I had to rush eating the scone. I did not even have time to finish my tea because I had to catch the 10:28 bus due to my tight schedule.

I thought the days of reputable places having just one (uninspiring) vegetarian option had long gone.

Add to that we couldn t bring our small well behaved dog in to sit outside the cafe?!

Seemed to be just about getting you to pay to do the tour, if not bugger off.

Very nice local vineyard. Produces a variety of other high quality products, including very good chocolate from an on-site master chocolatier, fudge, and preserves such as the local Jersey Black Butter.

The tour is good and informative without being heavy. It includes a tasting of the three core wines (a red, white and rose), which are good quality. It also includes a sample of the cream liqueur, chocolate and fudge. A very reasonable price for the tour and samples included.

The cafe is also good, the afternoon tea was an enjoyable way to refuel (and let some of the alcohol out of the system).

Worth a visit stingy with the wine tasting. They don't tell you that the black-butter is confiscated at the Airport if you only have hand luggage. They are aware of this so I regard this as very shoddy practice and reflects very poorly on the Island of Jersey.

Beautiful grounds and lovely hens! Unfortunately, the service and food was poor. The waitress practically had a nervous breakdown taking our order and despite having emailed in advance about two vegan breakfasts, they just served us a veggie breakfast without eggs with no substitutes and had no idea about the information we had sent in advance. The portion size was very small, the tomatoes were not cooked and the beans were cold. Will not return for food.

Really enjoyed the tour trying wines and chocolates. There is much to learn about but it is fun. The estate is beautiful and a joy to explore. A taste of Jersey for sure. Highly recommend the afternoon tea with Black Butter.

The welcome on arrival was good and a sample of their cider was provided. Cafe was lovely and clean with good coffee. Toilets use rainwater for flushing which is novel and green. The tour was enjoyable and the wine tasting was a good experience. The creamy liqueur in a chocolate cup provided at the end was a lovely treat. And yes the Black Butter does smell of Christmas.

About La Mare Wine Estate

La Mare Wine Estate: A Haven for Wine Lovers and Foodies

If you're a wine lover or a foodie, then La Mare Wine Estate is the perfect destination for you. Located in St Mary, this estate offers an array of delicious local handmade produce that will tantalize your taste buds. From chocolates to biscuits, preserves to speciality Christmas treats, La Mare has it all.

But what makes La Mare so special? Let's dive deeper into the history and offerings of this unique wine estate.

History

La Mare Wine Estate was established in 1972 by John Falle who had a passion for winemaking. He started with just one acre of land and planted vines that he imported from France. Over time, he expanded his vineyard to over 25 acres and began producing award-winning wines.

Today, La Mare is still family-owned and operated by Tim Crowley who took over the business in 2003. Under his leadership, the estate has continued to thrive and expand its offerings beyond just wine.

Wine

Of course, wine is still at the heart of La Mare's business. The estate produces a variety of wines including reds, whites, rosés and sparkling wines using traditional methods combined with modern technology.

Their signature wine is their Jersey Sparkling Rosé which has won numerous awards including Gold at the International Wine Challenge. It's made using Pinot Noir grapes grown on their own vineyard combined with Chardonnay grapes from Champagne.

In addition to their own wines, they also offer tastings of other local wines as well as those from around the world in their tasting room.

Food

But what sets La Mare apart from other wineries is their focus on food as well as wine. They have an onsite restaurant called The Vineyard Café which serves up delicious meals made using locally sourced ingredients including fresh seafood caught off Jersey's coast.

They also have a farm shop where you can purchase all sorts of goodies such as homemade jams and chutneys made using fruit grown on their own farm; artisanal cheeses; freshly baked bread; locally roasted coffee; handmade chocolates; and much more!

During the festive season (Christmas), they offer hampers filled with these delectable treats that make perfect gifts for friends or family members who appreciate quality food products.
