Beautiful idyllic setting, I was there for the one-on association

The ROYAL MANUFACTURE, today a place of quality accommodation, yesterday a production center for luxurious woolen sheets which exported to the Levant and to China ... This large old building has been classified as a historical monument and can be visited during Heritage Days, every year in September.
Located on the banks of the LA DURE river, which descends from the Montagne Noire, this cloth production center was set up as a Royal Manufacture under LOUIS XV, in the 18th century.
Its activity developed until the beginning of the 19th century and in 1812, 257 workers were still making until 1830 pieces of sheets using 135 looms ... which made it the first factory in the senechaussee of CARCASSONNE. It was the political upheavals of the end of the Napoleonic Empire and the blockade of the English that caused the production of cloth to decline, which gradually ceased, then definitively in 1818 ....
Long abandoned, all the buildings and adjoining workshops have deteriorated a lot, but thanks to the revival of the village of Montolieu, access to books, culture and green tourism, many renovations have taken place.
Thus, since 2003 the Manufacture Royale has therefore become a comfortable holiday home offering a variety of accommodation possibilities in the form of rental of apartments, studios and rooms.
Most of the original elements of this monumental building have been preserved. Thus you will discover a freestone staircase, rooms with high ceilings, numerous marble and chestnut wood fireplaces, a magnificent dining room and an impressive vaulted cellar. Old slabs cover the ground of all floors.
The result is a mix of modern and design, rare antique furniture and baroque details .... Many colorful bouquets pleasantly flower the old building and a shop.
The facade of the building and the roof are being renovated at the start of 2019 ...

An amazing place, full of history, which is the backdrop to a varied collection of modern art exhibitions.

Fantastic location, really kind owners, spacious rooms and really beautiful garden and pool, including lots of great sit and chill/lounge spots - and the owners are great cooks too! Absolute recommendation to stay a couple of nights! We (family with two young kids) had a great time!

Nice place unfortunately not put eb value ....
The exhibition is to see. We like or we do not like but to see.
