Oldest continual restaurant since 1725. Considered to be an institution. Got the reservation online - it was smooth and useful. The food is good. I had the salad Botin and lamb; both were tasty. Central location. Fast service. Recommended.

There's a really good reason why this place has been in business for the last 295years. The conchinillo asado (roasted suckling pig) is to die for. Perfectly crispy skin and soft marbled (!!!) pork meat. We were five in the group but decided to get a whole pig (6 portions. Needless to say, the whole platter was wiped out. Definitely a must when you're in Madrid!

Was just here for the experience of being in the oldest restaurant in the world. Food was extremely underwhelming. Roasted pork was really crispy, and the meat was tender, but I wouldn't exactly describe it as tasty. Every other dish we ordered was too salty. Service was fantastic though.

Nice little place in the center of a very crowded area. I recommend to book and ask for the tavern because it is a completely different story compared to the ground floor. Nothing to say. Extra friendly and punctual waiters, normal price for a place of this caliber that offers a variety of courses and wines ranging from luxury dinner to a normal couple dinner (for example 2 soups + a piglet in two + half a liter of wine + water + bread + a dessert in 2 we are about 35 each).
I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THE BEANS WITH MILK PIG (absolutely the main course) and the baked milk piglet.

This is such a lovely place, besides the history that comes within. The architecture, and decorative ornaments. It has GREAT service, people there are kind and gentle to everyone. The food is just amazing and it's worth every penny.

Cool for the historical issue, excellent service. But the question is more touristy, I expected much more from the food, from the famous pork they prepare. I don't know if we're used to more seasoning. The price is well salted so be willing to shell out about EUR 50 for one meal with drink (per person).

It is said that it is the oldest restaurant in the world, and it may not be in place at least three weeks ago. It seems to be very popular. I passed by at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and I went inside to take a look. When I asked, I said there was someone!
Of course, the two of Sit Low ordered the signature roast suckling pig, which is ok, and it is not as salty as other paella, but other salads, soups and desserts are just as good as they are. You can try it once. The deduction of Li Xing is also because the table is very thin and the back is top-to-back (fortunately, there is a Hong Kong tea restaurant feel).

A-maze-ing!! You must order the roasted suckling pig! So crispy and flavorful. We also really enjoyed the artichokes with crispy jamon, and the croquettes were super creamy with a rich flavor. Excellent pricing for the high level of cooking. This is the oldest continuously open restaurant in the world!

Great location, service and of course the food was delicious. The basement dinning gave it and all time feel that may take you away to a time of drawn horses carriage's. I recommend this place without a doubt.

Severely disappointing. The service was rushed and impersonal and the food was incredibly average. The restaurant must have no pressure to do anything other than to exist, for the novelty of being the world's oldest restaurant is guaranteed to fill its dining rooms each day. I recommend appreciating the restaurant from the outside for what it is but I do not recommend spending one of your vacation s meals here.

My wife and I did a tour/dinner package and it was amazing. Tim, our guide, was very knowledgeable of not only the restaurant, but of Madrid's history, and we learned a lot of pretty profound things. This restaurant is one of the best and most authentic in Madrid, and I would recommend it to anyone. The succling pig was to die for, and every other course was delicious.

Make a reservation. You will need it.

I always want to go to the oldest restaurant in the world. It dates to 1725.
We received excellent attention and great food. Very expensive wine (more than dishes) and VAT is not included in the price of the menu. Recommended to book.

Small and very cozy place, founded in 1725, I tasted a Cochinillo Asado at a price of 24.80 accompanied by a Sangria, individual dish, not enough for two, I found little food for one, more like Brazilian I thought it was worth it, I spent a total of 65.00.

The restaurant is quite well known because it is the oldest restaurant in the world!

The kitchen is super old, the place is fantastic, it eats rich but it is really expensive.
It opens at 8pm and must be called in advance to reserve.

All the taste, the attention was super good.

A place with a lot of magic, the tradition and affection that permeate this beautiful restaurant are palpable in the atmosphere. Its food is an authentic wonder, of which I would highlight its care in its preparation and its homemade style.

He Deserves. Beautiful old restaurant with barrel ceilings and exposed bricks. Competent and discreet waiters. You go up and down in a very ancient and very articulated place. I ate well and spent as elsewhere. In addition, this is a nice pub

The place is certainly colorful, but I won't go there a second time.
The dishes are too simple for this price level and the execution is far from perfect.
The piglet was not as delicate and flawless as we would like.
The potatoes were damp.
Good wine and friendly staff improved the experience.

Food good, but nothing special, mostly on the main course of the house. Weak and impersonal service. For the value of the account, you have much better options in Madrid

The oldest restaurant in the WORLD if the world and we have it in Madrid. A good menu, for my economy somewhat expensive but with respect to the quality of the product and the impressive cooking. It is worth visiting at least once in life although I will repeat. Recommended 100 percent

The establishment exudes history in every detail of decoration, in the smell of the oven and in the taste of the piglet and the loot cake, exquisite and served by a most pleasant and attentive staff, who showed us the oven and the area of the cave, lovely. And to culminate an intervention of the prickly pear, giving more traditional flavor to the experience.

World's oldest restaurant according to the Guiness...

World's oldest restaurant according to the Guiness Book of records. Close to the Plaza Mayor in a streetfull with restaurants and bars. First, be sure to have a reservation. It opens at 20 and at 20:05 it was full.

The interior, service and food is as expected very traditional. The starters are good to share and for the main courses the slow roasted suckling pig is the favourite, as can already be seen by a quick look in the kitchen where they are lined up. Cut for you at the table, delicious. Don't expect to much from the desserts though.

Atmosphere, tradition and good quality food, typical Madrid.

Not recommended for vegan/vegetarians though, who might find the view on the suckling pigs offensive...

While my wife and I began planning our trip to Spa...

While my wife and I began planning our trip to Spain, we stumbled across Sobrino de Botin recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world s oldest restaurant still in operation. Sobrino de Botin originally opened in 1725. The restaurant was mentioned by Ernest Hemingway in one of his books. So we figured if it's good enough for Mr. Hemingway, we need to include it in our itinerary.
We arrived in Madrid and began exploring (getting lost). During one of our exploration adventures we accidentally stumbled across Sobrino de Botin. So with no reservations we walked in and hopped for the best. We were greeted at the door by a friendly well dressed gentleman who immediately asked if we had reservations. After a very short wait and without much fuss we were escorted up to the quaint second floor dining room and down to our table.

Overall amazing experience with prompt very attentive service and incredible food.

Excellent and fast service, attentive, kind and helpful staff. A small wedding favor in the midst of many tourist places. The Botin salad is nothing special and the Sardinian porceddu is better than the suckling pig. An appetizer, a soup, 2 seconds, 2 desserts, water and 0.5l wine 113. Superb Catalan cream and cheese cake!

The staff's treatment is impressive. Wonderful. The typical food Spain. Some marvelous garlic prawns, good elvers and a suckling pig that takes away the penalties.
Baked sole fish served without bones ready to eat.

If you ask for sufle at the beginning, they take time to make it.

Perfect place! Very authentic, great food. Pork literally melts in your mouth, garlic soup is not bad - somewhat similar to French onion soup. Not too cheap though - 85 eur for dinner with sangria. Definitely recommend!

Definitely a must in Madrid. We made a reservation a week in advance. Amazing food and service. Go for a pitcher of sangria, you won't regret it. FYI don't recommend the lower (underground) level if you're claustrophobic.

Better and better, my third time there (1995, 2018). The cochinillo and cordero were perfect, my wife had fried fish (hake) also great. We spent 4 people, a bottle of red house wine, 3 Cokes, a large mineral water, 2 lambs, 1 piglet (individual portions), a fried fish, without coffee, without dessert, 136 euros, I tipped, I paid in total: 150 euros. I strongly recommend, incredible experience, we had lunch in the basement all in stone like those old wine cellars but there are other lighter and more open environments on the upper floors. All beautiful, a journey through time.

Superb quality of the roasts, lamb or suckling pig that are its star dishes. And the rest of the letter to his height. The place is unique, with many different rooms and the cave below with great capacity. The super professional and friendly staff. My first time here was in 1984 and I still value it as one of the best steakhouses in Spain.

The oldest restaurant in the Venice record has a h...

The oldest restaurant in the Venice record has a history of more than 200 years. Hemingway often came here to eat when he was in Spain. Picasso once worked here. It features grilled suckling pig and grilled lamb chops, as well as egg mashed potatoes and seafood garlic soup.
The restaurant looks old and small from the outside, and it remains the same after you come in. The restaurant has three floors, generally only one and two floors are open, and the underground cellar is rarely open. It is a pity that you can't enter if you want to see it.
We are sitting on the second floor, there are many tables, basically next to each other. There are a lot of foreign tourists, so they should all come here, in twos and threes, bustling, really popular.
Basically, the roast suckling pig is ordered, but there is a set meal, which is 45 euros per person. It is really expensive. It is recommended that two people order one and add one or two other dishes, but it is not enough to eat.

We were in Madrid for the first time and decided to check out this place, they were able to accommodate us as it was not busy. We were very excited as due to the hip around this place. However it didn't start out great, we found our main server to be rude (or maybe that's part of the experience??) however the younger assistant server was very nice and welcoming. We gave our order the main server, had questions about the items on the menu, he refused to answer them, or maybe he didn't understand due to the language barrier as we did not speak Spanish as he initially thought. However we did hear his speak English to the folks on the table behind us.

The food it self was okay, nothing special other than being over priced for the experience. I would NOT suggest this restaurant, rather visit something right next door or around the corner and be aware of the thefts, they are everywhere.
