What a super attention service! Delicious eaten. Beautiful romantic spot on the canal.
What a super attention service! Delicious eaten. Beautiful romantic spot on the canal.
Gorgeous location, especially if the weather permits you to sit outside by the canal. Well thought-out tasting menu with lots of interesting tastes and largely local products. Excellent accompanying wines.
Billed 250 euros for 2 people. None of the tasting dishes were surprising. Boring, lacking in flavor, unimaginative and the fennel dish was outrageously bad, chewy and uneaten.
we were alone, later another 1 couple came. We find it more pleasant if there are more guests, then you are a bit more 'anonymous'.
People incredibly friendly but not customer focused. Food was terrible and certainly for that price. Wine package did not fit at all. In one dish was even said: This is not wine but when you have water. Toilets too dirty to walk in. Railings of all stairs stuck. Very unfortunate and a waste of money.
One of the nicest places in Amsterdam and a delicious kitchen
Good but price quality ratio not so good.
We had a nice dinner portions were a bit small and food was special but did not taste special strangely enough. Wine was good but also not special. All in all it is good but I have had better in this price range. Specially in the competitive market of Amsterdam. I do have to note it is a 3,5 not a 3. But as this restaurant seems to get high ratings I gave it a 3.
Elegant, expensive, WORTH EVERY EURO. Just a fantastic dining experience. Right up there will Eleven Madison Park. The owner is the waiter, server, cleaner, host, etc. But he does it with such ease and grace and beautiful service! Don't come without a reservation because you won't possibly be able to get the experience that he provides as a walk in. And he can't seat you. And the 7 course pre-fix that he mandated (nicely, of course) is simply delicious. Filling, not stuffed. I could go on and on. Make a reservation and experience for yourself.
Looks good, but bad food, and worse taste, personel earned the 2 stars, they where friendly
I am a fine dining chef for over 10years worst dining experience ive had in this world. Decided to go to this place to celebrate christmas yesturday with my fiancee.
We booked and payed a deposit 2 weekes beforehand. On arival we was told our table was no ready because customers still hadnt left yet and to go for a walk and come back. So we did.
Omce we come back we got sat to the back next to a noisy elevator. We wating for menus over 20mins. Waited foe drink order over 20mins. There was only 2 staff on floor in a 60 seater restaurants serving tasting menu. We new that they wer understaffed (tasting menu with 2x staff christmas day) . We looked at every other table there expressions and faces. No body seemed like they wer having a good christmas so we decoded no to waste out money and christmas here and decided to take our custom to the grasshopper where our custom was much rather appreciated and we had a great night. What annoyed us the most in we was asked to pay for our 2xsoft drimls when leaving which for a fine dining restaurant and with the experience we had was quite desporate and upseting.
I would not wish anyone to go to this restaurant. TRust me. P.s man with the stutter does not have a clue how to run a fine dining restaurant.
Top restaurant where you go for a great culinary evening.
I shared this culinary experience with my non-Dutch parents-in-law, they loved it and regularly talk about this beautiful evening!
French style with local motifs and ingridients cuisine. Raw mackerel with pickled cucumber sorbet and dutch creme with pear were marvelous.
My dear compatriots, beware of appearances! At first, your host will arouse your curiosity with a surprise menu (posted at 65 euros on the website but never mentioned) of good quality. He will then suggest that you accompany your meal with food and wine that are not .... on any map. Very persuasive, it is difficult to refuse ... The addition will be salty, even with a beautiful smile :) Remember to ask the price, nothing is offered, nothing is free!
Have a nice stay in Amsterdam.
Signed the guest plucked.
Funny food but very small portions, in my opinion not worth the money.
The ambience was great but my main course was served lukewarm. Service also a little slow. This restaurant is 70% to where it needs to be.
Suprising and extraordinary menu, worth to follow waiter advise
Delicious cherry lunch,
Have eaten here before but now also have the Christmas lunch. Very festive and delicious. And I continue to be surprised about how delicious Dutch wines can be. And furthermore an attractive and cozy restaurant.
Very good restaudant. Certainly in the nomination for a Michilin star next year
Sit at the canal side benches and enjoy a glass or two. Snack or eat a full meal all with attentive staff. A hidden gem.
Greatly enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere, good food and nice wines.
I really don't know how this got good reviews across all review sites because it's the worst fine dining experience I've ever had.
I loved the idea of the unknown tasting menu but it pretty much stopped there.
No dishes wowed me. Some dishes even tasted like something that I could make at home, or literally, (quoting my husband) "if you let a child make two bad dishes and combine both of them, it would've made the dessert".
Being from NYC and having traveled around the world for top notch restaurants, we expected more out of a place with good reviews and such creative plates, but frankly, I wouldn't pay more than 5-10 euros for this 6 course tasting menu. It was either bland or plain weird.
Also for a tasting menu, the portions are quite small (I've done plenty of tasting courses in my life so know that we should've been offered a tiny bit more).
The experience is really what killed it. It lasted over 3 hours, and we got two intermezzos on the house in between two of our courses. 1 intermezzo is normal, but 2 signified that there was something up in the kitchen because over 3 hours for a 6 course tasting menu is not normal. The intermezzos were cauliflower puree with bacon (kind of tasted like Wendy's baked potato with bacon bits and sour cream) and the other was strawberry with cayenne pepper, which doesn't even go well in the order of a tasting menu.
Also, the table next to it-- the server didn't tell them that their dish had a broth to it so by the time the server came back with the broth, they basically ate their dish. They were from Italy (which you probably know has amazing food) and from talking with them, they didn't like the food either. Another table was playing cards at their table-- first and last time I will ever see that in a fine dining establishment. They weren't happy either. The whole restaurant was unhappy it seemed.
I will not go back and am sad to write such a terrible review 'cause obviously, it hurts the business and I don't enjoy writing these.

these are the restaurants i love: just sit and enjoy. There was a tasting of small dishes with fantastic wines (especially those Bulgarian). The broth of grapes was served by the Chef himself, I have never tasted anything like this. Delicious.
Wonderful restaurant, gourmet cuisine, magical service! We were served by the owner himself, a sense of home atmosphere! I advise tasting me, which consists of 7 dishes and you will immediately get acquainted with the national cuisine of the Netherlands! Thank you very much, we were impressed!
Very cozy restaurant great service and excellent food.
Can only be recommended if you are looking for a cozy little restaurant with Dutch cuisine and nice service.
5 stars for location and service and the bread...however the experience was let down by 2 out of 5 of the dishes. The third dish was some strange cold root vegetable melange - basically 2 different kinds carrots, and various potatoes. The dish wasn't pretty, was cold, the vegetables were barely cooked and were tasteless!
The second dish (I think) was a gelatine based soup that melted on hot water being poured on it. The effect was v.cool however the end result was pretty tasteless.
Excellent service though and I just wish I hadn't been so English and had the balls to tell the lovely waiter some constructive feedback
Beautiful place with nice dishes, nice atmosphere, pleasant service and everything you eat is thought about and if possible sustainable. Everyone can learn something from this. Top!
Very cool to also taste Dutch wines. Didn't think these would be so good. The Monarch & Pinot Noir is an absolute must!
Excellent tasting menu, local food and attentive service.
I had a really delicious and elegant meal here with my boyfriend this week to celebrate our engagement. The food was fantastic and the service professional and knowledgable. I would love to go there again!
Great, it never was but it must be attractive !!
the food with the service was great and gives me spontaneous desire to return !!
Great food and fantastic service! Recommended for the holidays.
This is a special, precious place. Hospitality means much to the friendly owner, the food is outstanding and the atmosphere fits a special occasion. If in town, try it out (it's worth the money!)
A breath of fresh air to enjoy a combination of honest Dutch dishes and wines, sparkled with Sicco's infectious tribute.
A quiet restaurant, pleasant atmosphere, very good attention from the chef himself, the dishes very well made and with a good product. The price is high for the 7-course tasting menu with wine service.
Great food and a cozy host. Very rewarding and truly festive! And oh, you have to take that Bulgarian wine.
Delicious food, very atmospheric and delicious wine.
Last night I celebrated my birthday and the four of us enjoyed a tasting of contemporary and seasonal dishes. Not only a feast on the plate, but also in taste. The wines matched very well with the dishes. At the table we were given an explanation with each dish and in everything it was noticeable how much love the dishes were prepared. Recommended. We will definitely be back.
Apparently kids aren't welcome. They expect kids can't eat an 7 course meal. And suggest you find some Italian food down the street. I suggest you take the kids to Envy or Janusz instead!
Great service. Food (Xmas lunch), was excellent, serving was well timed. I like their flexibility with food allergic customers. Pricing was appropriate.
This meal was fantastic and so worth the investment. Service was great, the decor was relaxed but still felt special, and the experience flew by, we wanted to stay the whole night. Can't wait to go back!
Inside, the restaurant looks nice and cozy. Nice place in the Jordaan. Unfortunately, the food is very disappointing. The starter was small and small in taste and quite pricey. The main course was o.k. no frills. Dessert was nice. Really bad points are the prices. Disbalance. Around 40 for a glass of beer, wine and water for two people. Order and pay for side dishes separately. This increases and does not correspond with the quality of the product. Pity..
The secret gem of Amsterdam. Particularly good food, Fantastic service. Delicious Dutch Wines. Nice cozy homey atmosphere. Thank you very much for a beautiful evening, never to be forgotten.
I will definitely be back !!!!
We ate here for New Year's Eve and really appreciated the excellent food.
Wonderful breakfast after a transatlantic flight. Staff couldn t be nicer (even held our luggage!) and the sunlight, cappuccinos & eggs helped our jet lag.
Delicious eaten with a Dutch wine tasting. You can taste the passion in food and wines. Top location! Really recommended.
There was a bet tonight but the 300 we spent for 2 people was not worth it. Number of cold dishes, a long time between the next serving and that moment, not comfortably warm and a lot of focus on upselling. And the upselling is not that bad, but without seeing a card it did lead to the bill running too far.
Perhaps there was some understaffing. We did have a nice evening and the potential is there. They are still at 70% of what it can be.
Positive: nice location, nice service and nice interior.
Delicious lunch with a view on a cold day but also one sunny canal! Good service .. using the Fork makes it even more attractive! Top!
Beautiful location and great restaurant. Extremely friendly service and delicious lunch with delicious dishes.
A restaurant with an attractive ambiance and a good price-quality ratio. When we arrived we were able to have an aperitif outside on the small terrace. Then we opted for the 4-course menu du Chef. It was delicious and very nicely presented. The service was friendly and attentive. And the location, a monumental canal house in the Jordaan, was very beautiful.
Excellent and delicious food that has invested a lot of thought and planning into it. The food was served by the chef himself and he made sure to detail everything and tell everything needed for each dish.
Good restaurant with a nice mix of traditional and modern. The food was tasty.
Service was not really to my taste, it's not unfriendly, but I didn't really care for the 'humor'.
Top tent, good food and nice service. Not so touristy but just an eye for good food and drinks
Lovely venue, great service. Smallish portions if you re hungry, but take your time and savour them wonderful flavors and taste. Worth going for sure. Only place I ve eaten game meat that hasn t actually tasted super-strong and gamey, just enough for taste but not overwhelming.
Never experienced that you cannot choose yourself; so even though I read on the website, it didn't occur to me that I had nothing else to say but to sit down, eat what they thought of and pay for something that I could not choose; I like to determine what I taste ... and how much I want to spend. So despite reservation, parking, etc., we had to find something else in the area. Not nice.
very nice thing. sweet personal attention, sustainable dishes and delicious wines! to do!
With the prices they have and the positive recommendations in various magazines I expected more
I was disappointed
Very good food, well furnished for a relatively good price!
We have eaten here at our company party! thanks!
Absolutely brilliant experience at nye, great people and great food. Definitely coming back!
beautiful location, small, super friendly and above all very good food and drinks!
A gem in the center! Many Dutch wines are served and they are all great.
The food is of a high standard and everything shows how competent the host of the restaurant is. Recommended!
In October we enjoyed a 3-week visit to Italy and Rhine cruise that concluded with 3 days in Amsterdam. Our accommodations on Bloemgracht were near l'Invite where we discovered the charm of an afternoon glass of wine on the waterside terrace. The off-hours hospitality of restaurant owner Seco convinced us to stay for dinner on the final evening of our trip.
Nothing could have prepared us for the simple elegance and wonderful flavors of the chef s tasting menu featuring domestic farm-to-table ingredients paired with carefully selected Dutch wines. The excellence of preparation and artistry of presentation of the dishes revealed the depth of the owner s appreciation of quality over quantity small servings over 7 courses that encouraged us to concentrate on the exquisite flavors of the chef s innovative selections. We concluded the evening with appetites satisfied and palates educated.
An unexpected fine dining experience in a beautifully simple setting. The perfect finish of a memorable visit to Amsterdam. We will return.
We were in Amsterdam for a few days before a cruise and asked the concierge at the Pulitzer hotel for a good restaurant featuring local ingredients and cuisine. He suggested L'Invite as a great restaurant featuring Dutch cuisine with a modern flair. When we arrived we were met by, as we found out later, the Chef Owner. We told him we were food and wine people and told him to serve us whatever he wanted, both food and wines. The restaurant became busy with a large group but that had no effect on the quality of food and service. We enjoyed a nice leisurely dinner with wines and produce from local winemakers and friends of the chef. We will definitely go back when we are in Amsterdam!!
Lovely tasting menu dinner had here. We opted for the flight of Dutch wines to accompany the food. Yes, it s expensive, but what fine dining with quite a lot of lovely wines isn t? We had an extra glass of fizz to start, and a cheese course More
