Cheap drinks. Lots of local bands for reasonable entrance fee. They charge $1 for iced water in the upstairs bar. Also smaller selection of drinks upstairs (no cider? Just bring some cans up, what's the big deal?)

Fun, local, great beer. Seriously, what more do you want in a place? Tucked back in a neighborhood that gives it a laid back and easy atmosphere. Owners are friendly and staff is knowledgeable. If you haven't been here, why not? Keep up the great work .

Came here for emo punk night and it was fun! There is usually a multitude of people here after 10 so be prepared for a crowd. The atmosphere is fun and energetic. They have two floors with bars and a dance floor on each level. The staff is just mediocre

This place is hit or miss with music. Make sure you know what kind of bands will be playing here before you commit. I've heard a range of electronic to going there for one of the best hardcore metal bands i've ever seen. Seems to be a cool crowd who goes there to enjoy cheap-ish beers and a great time.

Eh.

Parking is non-existent so carpool or take the train. It is a different experience that I haven't had anywhere else. We went Thursday and they played a full album and the entire place knew every word and screamed it at the top of their lungs. The drink specials were good. The nook upstears was a welcome retreat from the mosh pit that formed downstairs. We ended the night on stage head banging with 20 other strangers. I felt cool.

This dive bar has lots of great alternative/indie musicians come through and perform. It consists of two rooms on the bottom floor- the first is the bar and the back room contains the stage. It gets really packed in here during bigger, high energy shows, but there is always water easily attainable from the bar

Main floor is for bands - Great Talent at good door prices. Upstairs is for DJ's. Parking is off street and easy to find. Well lit. Block from the train stop. Eating spots nearby. Philly institution. Pick a band and GO!

This place will never disappoint you. The food is really tasty and the place is extremely hygienic. The staff is amazingly helpful and cooperative. The place enhances its charm by the beautiful and very subtle music that they play. This gives an absolutely amazing vibe to the place.

The quality of the shows has fallen off over the years but it's still a cool spot to see a show if there is someone playing you like. Decent bar. Ok sight lines. Less corporate than most of the other venues in the area.

What a great bar, it was like going back in time ( early 80's) lots of fun. We were there on Friday night to see The New Bomb Turks ( they were amazing). Great atmosphere, fun crowd, all around great time. Definitely a must if your into good music, good staff, lot of stuff to view on the walls ( remind me of cbgb's). We had a blast .

Whoever owns this place pay serious attention to detail. I m always amazed looking around at the interior. Nothing out of place or in disrepair. The parties are ok too. Can be difficult to get a drink sometimes, but no too bad.

Classic corner bar with eclectic decor and clientele. Men's bathroom is a must see. Good sound system and live music, small yet fun dance/ pit area. Plenty of character and texture, recommended.

Whoever does the sound design for this hole in the wall venue should get an award. This place always delivers on a great sounding band experience, and the DJs are the illest. Looks like a dive bar, but performs at a high quality level. Seen many a rock show here, never had a bad time.

MKO Club is my favorite thing about Kung Fu Necktie. I guess Kung Fu Nectie is normally just a music venue with a small stage but occasionally they throw dance parties. MKO Club is a dance party they throw once a month that plays exclusively emo/pop punk/alt rock (think Panic at the Disco, Saves the Day, Brand New, and Fall Out Boy). I have been there twice for this event and had a blast both times.

It's located a block from the Girard St station making it easy to get to.The drinks are cheap - they usually have City Wide Specials for $3. The interior decorations are a little weird. They have a giant 2Pac poster that overlooks the dance floor but they also have a couple disco balls.

An amazing "alternative" bar and venue for a myriad of bands of all kinds. Surprisingly, on Friday nights after the bands, a DJ and young crowd appear - very contrast of the prior patrons and atmosphere. I had a great time here and it was a very interesting experience.
