Our children attend two different schools in Zeist. De Breul excels in: 1) communication to parents 2) an eye for the individual child by the teaching team. Children are really seen on the Breul. Although the Breul is the largest school in Zeist, it is a school with a very warm culture with attention for its students and cooperation with parents.

De Breul is really a terrible school, it has now been 6 years and literally every day is fighting for your life. The teachers in particular are really worthless in my opinion. All in all, my advice to all people who consider De Breul as a secondary school is: NEVER, NEVER go to De Breul.

Information about reviewer:
Did the Breul experience six years at the VWO, was a member of an internal student organization (such as the student council or the VLIB) and did so until the end of 2018. Reviewer is now studying Organizational Sciences.

De Breul was, until the 'Rector Dance Dance' (around 2015) started, a beautiful and structured school. At that time many pupils had great respect for the school and the good organization. However, there is now nothing more to see.
De Breul now 'lives' on the remains of that time. The fact is that every year the Breul can look at the bottom of the treasure chest little by little. Many things changed during the many rector exchanges, where a great deal of money was spent on things that did not necessarily have to be done (for example, television screens and iPads in gyms, expensive systems such as OneNote that were not used, laptops for students, but not the ones technicians who could / could supervise them). In addition, certain areas have remained completely disadvantaged (all those new MacBooks are of course beautiful, but all the methods that are used are still out of the book, but there were also tensions resulting in excessive 'food battles' or frequent bullying). Certain issues are still not out of the world. My problem with the Breul was simply the non-watertight plan.
Now rector Ferry happily came up with a new idea, a renovation of the entire school system, with the primary goal of helping the Breul break out of the financial abyss (at least that's what some people say internally, no idea if it's really true). In doing so, the Breul is heading for Jenaplan education, which is done as if it were the solution for all previous problems. However, the question is whether this will actually happen, because there is still no approval from the Education Inspectorate (Ferry, why do you proclaim this as truth?), And it does not look as if that approval will come soon. The idea has also been created with very specific teachers (alpha and gamma teachers, the beta section is entirely left to its own fate). I wonder what the future of the Breul is.

I noticed that my fellow pupils at the VWO ran into the same things and therefore want to speak partly on their behalf, but it must be understood that (TL) HAVO can experience it very differently. Also the Breul started a new year and my last findings are already a few months old. Still my advice; make years if you are at the Breul, but if you still have to make the choice I would take it easy with the Breul and wait for what will eventually happen.

Fairly good school. The oldest part looks nice, but the rest of the school is built quickly and cheaply which does not look good. Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable (some teachers excepted). Bicycle facilities are good and the crossings have been improved. Aggressive lads are an eyesore, but nowadays every school has.

Well I have some more experience with this school, there are still a lot of bad points added. If you look here as a job-seeker, do not apply at De Breul. It's just too sad for words how they deal with teachers here. In the beginning they say that there is work and that you can stay. 2 years later there is no work left and you can leave.
Schedules at this school are also a drama. For the Breul, every student is a number. The grids are especially in the superstructure A DRAMA! 9th hours are no longer an exception and De Breul knows how to make the most bizarre rosters.

De Breul, at first sight a very good school, and that is it. But on so many points, things just do not go well here.

Something has to change quickly at this school. It is going more and more downhill due to stupid decisions by the board. That's why I go from 4 to 3 and now 2. Something has to change !!!!

This school works in very authorative manners. It does not connect to the spirit of the current generation and it uses it s powers to force children to go through treatment disproportionate to the acts they have committed. When you do not fit their standards, they will make you fit their mold.
