Kool Beans will hands down be the best coffee shop I've ever come across, and I do love my coffee. Kurt and his staff are amazing and their coffees, teas and other drinks never disappoint. If you're in the Brookings area, or would even just order to have some beans shipped to you, it will be the greatest coffee of your life! I hate that I had to move after just getting used to the place since it's opening in August 2017, but will be ordering beans to enjoy the sweet creations of Mr. Kurt Osborne from afar!
Beautiful local coffee shop with great quality coffee drinks. Spiced dirty chai is a must! There was a kind gentleman working that gifted myself and some other customers a small bag of coffee beans. The lady making coffee was friendly and brought my drink out to the table. Thanks Kool Beans Coffee for being an inviting, stylish, and kind establishment.

The workers are super nice. And you can really have a lot of options. Or you can join a free rewards program. And earn beans for rewards. My favorite is the iced mocha with 2 espresso shots. They also have a Wi-Fi password that they tell you. Just a really clean and comfy place
Stopped in for first time this morning. Staff super friendly. I ordered a caramel cappuccino with an extra shot and pump. I really don't know what they served me but it was not cappuccino. There was no foam what so ever and it was utterly tasteless.
Answer to Owner: 6th Street. I didn't have time to return to discuss the issue. I'm sure your establishment would have made it right but when I'm the only one in the drive thru and no one in the store, Its a reasonable to expect that a $7 cup of coffee will be made right.
I go here all most every week to get great drinks. We enjoy the staff there they are always friendly and fun. We also buy their beans that we use to make coffee at home and it is the BEST!!!! I recommend this place to every coffee bug passing through or who live here in town!
Kool Beans is my favorite coffee shop in town! I love grabbing a coffee and some of their coffee beans. The Paul Bunyan is my favorite drink of all time and definitely is the highlight of my fall!

A review from a coffee lover and ex-barista. What a fantastic little specialty coffee shop! None of the other shops in Brookings are like it. The coffee beans are roasted in house then crafted into the drink of your choice. Sit at the beautiful bar and watch as the barista prepares a pour over or go over to the sweet viewing window where you can watch the roasting magic happen. On the east wall you will find the evolution of the coffee grinder and some other history tid bits. You can also check out the regions where the beans come from. This shop is even kid friendly! On the west wall there is a cute little Kool Kids Corner for the littles, complete with a chalk board wall, books and a few toys. So far I am quite impressed with the quality of drink and service. I will definitely be recommending Kool Beans to everyone!

If you are downtown, and in need of good coffee, definitely stop in. They have dozens of types of coffee as well more options than just a simple drip coffee. I'm pretty sure they are the only place in town that offers pour-overs or french press, and more. They roast their own beans too. It's great to have a place in town to buy fresh beans for my home brew. The owner and employees are always super nice, no matter how busy it is.

This place is the secret coffee diamond of Brookings! The atmosphere is unique and the decorations inside work together with their special roasts to set them apart from the more standard, generic places in town. The location is slightly hidden on Main Street but once you go once, you ll find yourself there all the time! (And they have a student discount for in-house coffee orders). The owner is extremely friendly and told me that he started roasting coffee in his garage years ago so he is clearly passionate about what he does. I love Kool Beans.

This is an extremely special coffeeshop in Brookings. My latte always taste exactly the same regardless of who makes it, the baristas know the ins and outs of the drinks and the atmosphere (even during a pandemic) is always welcoming. Highly recommend!

I just moved to Brookings, I wanted to find fresh coffee beans and support local business. I am so pleased that I found Kool Beans, this place is amazing. I went in with my mother who lives in Wisconsin, we loved this place. We met Kurt, who answered our questions, they roast beans daily and get organic beans from 12 different countries....wow!
My mom was so impressed, she picked up a couple of pounds to take back home. We sampled a few different blends and enjoyed a pour over cup. Friendly staff, very welcoming place. I bought a Kool Beans canister for under $8, holds a pound of coffee, keeps it fresh and the best part is you bring it back empty and they will fill it and give you $1 off of your next pound purchase. The prices for a pound of coffee is reasonable, plus they custom ground it for me on the spot for the coffee maker I own.

Amazing place, I cannot recommend it enough. Their espresso is great. They make it using a blend of two different roast levels of coffee. This makes it have a very chocolaty flavor, yet have notes of sweetness you don't get in your standard espresso. They also offer a range of coffee beans that they roast themselves. Thus far, I have only tried their lighter roasts and have been impressed by all of them. They commonly have all sorts of origins to choose from, some of which are traceable back to the farm. If you are ever there on Saturday morning, I highly recommend sitting outside. They roast beans at that time, which creates the most amazing chocolaty smell from the roasting.

This is my favorite coffee shop in Brookings. At this point I only buy their roasted coffee for at home because I ve not found anything better. I would highly recommend them at either the one downtown or the drive through on 6th!
My grandma and I always stop here when I am in brookings, and it has been a pleasant experience every time. Today we stopped in to get a couple of hot coffees and shared a serving of their AMAZING ice cream. When my order came out cold instead of hot they immediately made a new one which was so sweet in the first place, and then the owner brought out a little card giving me a free drink next time I was in. They truly make sure that their customers are well taken care of. Thank you Koolbeans!!
