Probably the best Thai food I have outside of Thailand or Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas. The papaya salad is amazing...great heat that builds. Khao Soi that is awesome. And a new (to us) dish Khao Mun Gai that is excellent as well.

I've eaten a lot of Thai food, but I would say this was a menu I was certainly not as familiar with the descriptions as ones back home. The drunken noodle was excellent in my opinion and my husband enjoyed the pork belly. The waitress did ask if we'd been in before and explained that their menu is more "family style" and meant to share plates. She recommended that for 2 people we order 3-4 plates. This seemed really excessive to us as we weren't all that hungry and ordered only what I described above. Thank goodness, because 3-4 plates would've been WAY too much! Drunken noodles could be shared among 2 people if you're not super hungry and perfect for 1 if you are. Pork belly is good for 1 person. Overall atmosphere was nice and restaurant was very busy, even at 9pm. Though what isn't busy in San Francisco at that hour on a Saturday night!

We had to leave at the latest at 7:45 and were seated at 7:00. The hostess and the manager did everything they can to make sure we have the full experience. The food was very good and we had a great time.

Everything still tasted made from fresh ingredients, the sauces I'm not so sure anymore. The sauces seemed to have lost a lot of spice, and umami though. There chicken in the chicken rice was over poached so the lost most of the favor. The sauce was good. There fried noodles was tasty and cooked very well but one again lost all the spice and umami funk. Please don't dumb the spice down!

I got some sort of tofu broth bowl. It was flavorless and overpriced. Look closely at the menu. This is definitely fusion food. I was looking for something with spice. The fried chicken sandwich did look good. My friend got a chicken dish and it seriously was some boiled chicken with white rice. Broth on the side with some peanut sauce on the side. I felt bad for recommending that we go here.

Reserved dinner 2 days in advance. Was totally wort it. Had the rabbit curry and a few other dishes. They were all great. None of the entrees are a miss.

Edit:

Went here a second time.
My favorite entrees in order:

Caramelised pork belly
Massaman Nuea (braised beef)
Rabbit green curry

Not typical Thai place in America. But this latest visit disappointed me and my guest from Thailand as their quality diminished. The taste of some dish was off, and we had to send it back. It's still a place that I would take a friend who wants to experience the uniqueness of Thai food to though.

We didn't do the tasting menu but shared 6-7 dishes off the dinner menu. The food was really fresh and flavorful, but the service was not AT ALL what you would expect at a Michelin star restaurant. And the atmosphere was pretty dreary. The service was terrible. Our waiter seemed disinterested in the food he was serving and he was impossible to flag down when needed. He didn't came back to check on us unless he was bringing one of our dishes out. Agree with another reviewer the drinks were not nearly as good as food. I'd give the food four stars and the rest two stars. Therefore a three overall.

Great service and food. The starters were all delicious, as well as the chicken broth side. The curry soup was supposed to be spicy, but was relatively mild. The restaurant is located inside a hotel, which matters mostly because the bathrooms are in the main lobby.

Very unique and tasty dinner. Unlike any other Thai place I've been to. Loved the bean appetizer and grilled squid. The rabbit curry was good but a bit too spicy. Turned out to be more pricey than I thought it would be.

Good but short of great. The pork belly app was amazing. The massaman entree ended up being a disappointment. I liked the unique concept but the flavor was dry. Atmosphere was comfortable but again, not something I d rave about. Prices were appropriate for a Michelin rated place. I d give it another run when in town but I can t rave about it.

Overrated Thai food. It's not even authentic. Bad service. The host was unwelcoming. Food is very salty and overpriced. We were forced to go with set menu $60/person but what we got we're mostly vegan :(
The only good thing here is the cocktail. Not sure how they got a Michelin star but its definitely not worth it at all. Sorry but it's very disppointing.

The nam tok beans appetizer came out fast and was really good. They made the beans crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with the right amount of spicy and the wrap was excellent. The caramelized pork belly was so delicious and fell apart. We kept spooning the caramel sauce onto the rice afterwards - it was that good! We didn t have much stomach space for the rabbit green curry after that... but the rabbit was good, very tender but the curry was a tad spicy for us.

Really enjoyed the restaurant, not only food but the casual chill ambiance.

My favorite dish surprisingly was the noodles with xo sauce (both vegetarian and non vegetarian versions were awesome, yes our table got both!)

For appetizer, the mushroom dip with rice cakes was a nice opener. A little spicy so really opening up your appetite.

For mains, the wings and ribs were good but not amazing. I could skip them the next time I go. But the pork belly and curry were really scrumptious.

We got the vegetarian curry which was really good but could be spicier. Next time I would want to try a curry with some sort of meat.

Will be back!

Very bad experience. Night staff is very rude and non professional. I ate here on 3rd of Dec and they made it so spicy that I was almost crying. I came back the next day and had nice lunch. Today (5th of Dec), the staff experience was horrible and I simply quit. Upon asking how the dish is served and the guy replied that it is served in a bowl. If your manager wants details then connect with me. I am never coming back here. Michilen means have respect and be nice. Horrible people at service

Kin Khao is a Michelin Star Restaurant located inside the Park Hotel. I've been here a couple of times with relatively large groups and have had a great time.

- Limited but none the less great vegetarian options. My personal favorite is the "Khao Yum" and "Butternut Squash Panang", both of which are fairly delicious and suffice in quantity for a single person.
- Excellent cocktail menu with drinks ranging from Gins, Bourbons along with the options to get wine bottles and what not.
- Wonderful interior decor and great service. Our servers were kind enough to go into great detail while explaining each dish to us. We made a reservation online and were seated well on time.

A quick note that while they do provide a $65 pre-fix menu that can be shared, my personal recommendation would be to instead choose single dishes from the menu.

Food is very good. However, it is on a slight pricy side. Also, services there are bad. Even though there were empty tables, the server refused to seat us and forced us to wait for close to 30 min. Waiter we had was better, but for the price we pay for the food, I was already pissed off before we even started eating.

I absolutely love love this place. I wanted to come back the moment I finished eating all the food. We ordered the prefixed menu, which came with a lot of food, especially meat (and every dish was delicious), at $55/person, or about that. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time if you can, or just get here early and wait for a table. It's worth it!!

I happened to be in the neighborhood and there was a parking space available, so I gave La Pergoletta a shot. This was a good idea and it paid off tremendously. The pasta was delightfully al dente. The meatball was a magical sphere of cheese and meat bonded together over a luscious, velvety pink sauce. Every bite was l
more luxurious than the last. I will be back again and again.

Food was good. However, the service was horrible. Between appetizer and main dishes, there was 20-30 min gap.. and then the server came to us that we need to finish our dish and finish in 15 min because they are expecting guests come soon for their reservation.. we felt rushed to finish. The server brought a check middle of our dinner even we didn't ask for.. We are customers too and we could finish without feeling rushed if they deliver the food soon, not trying to push to kick us out!! I can't believe this restaurant received a michelline star with this service..

It was my second visit to Kin Khao and it did not disappointed me once more! The food was Thai but with a modern twist and the presentation was astonishing

A great One-Star Michelin Thai eatery. The quality isn t your typical Thai restaurant found in The City. Fresh with a definite California influence - Rabbit Curry, any one? Colorful alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to choose from beside a great wine and beer selection. Majority of their ingredients comes from small Northern California farmers, ranchers, etc.

Decor is very modern casual. Small in size inside the Parc 55 Hotel. Noise level is loud. Be sure to make reservations prior to the day or your will wait for a table. It can be a long wait!

Con: If you want to order the prix fixe menu, everyone at your table has to do so. This could be difficult if members of your party have dietary restrictions.

Amazing cocktails and some of the best Thai food I've ever had! Had a seat at the bar and enjoyed a Tom Yum cocktail while observing the tiny pass they manage to pump all the food out from. I had a vegetarian noodle dish which reminded me of a more flavorful pad see ew. Huge umami bomb and not too spicy. The accompanying sour and spicy sauce was perfect to drizzle on top. Can't wait to go back and try more!

I just loved Kin Khao. I tried the blue flower lemonade, the noodles and the chiken fat rice. Everything was delicious. Will definitely come back.

We had a reservation but somehow did not need one. The restaurant was not full and we went for brunch time. Will come back to try more dishes.

If you like sour drinks, try the lemonade. It's definitely worth it.

Currently one of my favorite places! Tasty, complex flavors and variety on the menu. I hope they don't over-play the prefix menu since the ala carte is which what I am a regular there for. Their lunch menu could benefit from more of their dinner signature dishes but there's a decent menu none the less. My favorites are the beef curry, thai boat, pork belly

No idea how this place can get this high review.

No idea how this place can get this high review.

I ordered four dishes: two main courses and two appetizers. The two appetizers were really bad. The salad had a very odd taste and the octopus was wayyyy to salty for human.

The two main courses were the masaman curry. They were recommended to us so I had some high hope. However, nothing surprise. It was just average curry with some expensive meat and veggie. The taste was nothing new.

I gotta said, I am very disappointed.

We ordered the rice salad, massaman curry with white rice, and stir-fried noodles... definitely overextended on the carbs, but they all tasted delicious! Would ve replaced the rice salad with a side of bok choy or an actual salad - we didn t finish half the curry since it came last and brought leftovers back.

Staff could be more attentive for a Michelin star restaurant, but no major complaints from us. Ambience is relatively casual, and it can get a bit noisy.

THE GOOD:

THE GOOD:

amazing food
good service

THE NOT SO GOOD:

need to book

We were honestly shocked at how good the food was here. We chose this place because it was close to our hotel, we were lucky to get a table without booking. When we arrived, only then did we realise that it was a Michelin star restuarant.

The food was amazing and so was the service. We only ordered four dishes but the dishes on nearby tables looked good as well.

The pork meatballs was one of the tastiest dishes I have ever had at a Thai restaurant. The stir fried noodles with chicken was delicious. We also ordered the baby choy sum which was one of the nicest side dishes we have ever had. We had ordered some sticky rice with the pork balls, which didn't arrived which to be honest we were happy about, when we told the staff, they were mortified and even tried to offer us a free dessert at the end of the meal.

Next time we are in San Francisco this will be the first place we will make a visit to.

Great Thai food , albeit slightly expensive. Fresh ingredients, authentic preparation and helpful staff make it a very pleasent experience. Forget the exact name of the dish but do ask for a sticky rice pudding for dessert

Trendy but casual Michelin 1 star serving authentic and mouth-watering Thai dishes. For the average Western palate, some items may be too spicy or too sour, but for the adventurous, the umami flavors will be a meal worth recommending. Prices reflect the quality ingredients and chef s well-known pedigree but service is friendly, accommodating and approachable. Tip: order the Thai charred squid and the house made curries (hint: beef cheek)

There was really nothing spectacular about the experience at Kin Khao at all. From the cold reception from the staff member who seemed disinterested in seating our party of 2 - just waving us over rudely... to the bland papaya salad and pork bowl which had very dry and overcooked large chunks of stringy, slightly charred meat...to the stir fried noodles which were heavy and greasy... I didn't particularly enjoy my lunch experience here at all. If you are looking for authentic Thai cuisine - this place doesn't serve that nor have a decent price tag to justify what they serve up. Would not return.

Such an enjoyable experience with super savory and textured dishes. Great service and upbeat staff! Pork soup was my favorite with rice noodles. Reservations are a must or try weekday lunches for lower crowds. Michelin star deserved

I only had one dish -- the Yaowarat fried noodles -- so maybe it's a bit unfair to give them 3 stars. Take it with the grain of salt. My big problem is the stir-fried noodles is exceptionally salty. I usually eat salty but the dish was way too salty and a bit oily. As a Thai, I asked for sugar or chilly to offset it. The waitresses were nice enough to offer me a new dish (same noodles) and when the new dish came, it was still quite salty. I felt bad and didnt want to complain. The staff kind of imply that it's just the sauce and style they do. But for $20, I do expect more. The place is so busy getting someone's attention is like trying to flag a car on a highway. So you have to try a bit hard. I want to go back again to try other food on the menu but I'm not sure if it will come out very salty again. Overall, I'm quite disappointed.

I absolutely love this place. Michelin star level twist on Asian food, at great prices. The menu is designed for family-style sharing, so bring hungry friends. I recommend going there for dinner and getting the tasting menu (trust me, you'll want to order everything anyway). Great selection of house cocktails. One can usually make a reservation for small parties a day in advance, although it can get busy.

Quite busy and bar seating is likely the only option if you don t have a reservation.

A bit surprising that it has a Michelin star, but it s quite good! Only ordered noodles and cocktails since there was limited time but fixed courses look really great.

Kom Ken cocktail was incredible!

I'm not sure why this place is a Michelin star and I mean it since I have been to many. Food is good but nothing too different from lower priced restaurants. We had Nom Tok beans, Pork Belly and Butternut Squash Panang curry which were good but we can get the same quality at other good restaurant for half the price. Then why pay $36 for the Panang here and pay extra $4 for the rice? And it's not that the ambience and the decor is anything like a high end place. The place feels like a noisy local bar that cramps as many people inside as possible. Food presentation is average too. You can check food pics on Google/Yelp and confirm for yourself. We had Thai Tea Soft Serve for dessert and again it was average at best with no special attention to presentation.

On the positive side the service and cocktails were great. Overall this is a good place but I would avoid it for the price. The reality doesn't match the hype!

The pork belly was amazing, but everything else was just fine. For the price and overall experience I can't give it more than three stars. Sharing a table with random people or sitting at that sad counter? Really...
