Dermatology dept: I arrived early and was greeted by a super friendly gentleman at the check-in counter. I was then seen by a great dermatology nurse and then doctor who was very thorough and took time to know a little about me and didn t just check the boxes. All of this was done in less than 30 min and now I m waiting downstairs in the pharmacy at the actual time my appt was scheduled for - great service and fast service!

I will say DENTAL was by far the best dental clinic I have been to in 13 years. Completely expected my mouth to be bruised and sore after a cleaning but not the case here. Great cleaning, updated equipment (compared to,other military places), fast, and thorough. Took a month to get an appointment (as expected) but worth it.

If you gave a monkey a stethoscope you would receive better health care than here. The service is actual trash. I had to come here for a PHA and somehow they hadn't yet reviewed my EPHA. It had been in the system for a week. Never again will go here for even a mild fever.

Kimbrough, where you'll get your call transferred at least four times before you get to who you actually called to talk to. Need to be seen quickly? Good luck, the earliest appointment will be a month long wait away. Female? Sorry they don't offer obstetrics or gynecology, drive an hour to Walter Reed. Was told to see a nutritionist for being underweight, was seen via Skype call.
Never been called once with lab results, and have yet to see the same doctor twice.
I hate this place with a passion. No one knows what they're doing. Worst medical facility I've been to in my life

This place should be shut down. The staff has no idea what they are doing, they are rude, and the worst place ive ever been, switch to john hopkins and run as fast as you can from this place. Unless you don't mind terrible customer service, nurses that are more worried about gossip then helping you, and being talked down to when you ask any type of questions. The phone system is the worst. You can sit on hold and it always hangs up and you have no choice but to deal with it.

Absolutely terrible. AWFUL. The phone number to cancel appointments is literally not in service- you press #2 on the menu, and it says "this number is not in service." Call again, press #1 to make an appointment- and it sends you back to the beginning of the main phone menu.
Worse than poor- criminal. Where are our tax dollars going?

Sometimes the wait is long, but overall they get the job done. Being early has worked best for me when showing up to appointments. With the new vehicle gate security measures though, adding an extra 20 - 30 minutes to get on base is advisable.

Useless phone line. I sat through 10min of phone-menus just to be hung up on, then again to find out that "that selection is not available." Now that it's after 1700 I'm sure most of the military staff has bailed. I always have to go in and speak to someone and hope they care enough to help. Super frustrated. I have had better care from a 3rd world country.

I've been stationed at Fort Meade for 9 years and Kimbrough is a terrible "hospital" One time, I scheduled to see my PCM for a check up, I arrived 20 mins early, but wasn't seen until 15 mins after my appointment time. Once I was in the room with my doctor, I told her I had two issues to address. My doctor said she only has 15 mins to see me and could only address one issue after waiting 2 months for this appointment. I was totally speechless, so I called the patient advocate and complained.

I recently found out that my daughter now has to be seen on a military installation for her appointments and referrals. The procedures are new to me being that I am not military and have been allowed to take her to civilian providers via Tri-Care. When I called today to follow up with a referral, the individual assisting me was very rude. She didn't give me a chance to fully explain what I needed and what was said to me by the doctor about my referral before she abruptly interrupted and proceeded to tell me "this is how things work" in a very condescending way. I couldn't get a word in without being interrupted. Please keep in mind not everyone knows the military system and making us feel belittled when we ask questions does not help.

Worst Military Treatment Facility that I have ever seen!!! They tell you they are going to call with test results (only if something is of concern)...but when they call, you had better be by the phone. Cause they do not leave a number to call back to...you have to call the general number. Then you get transferred around until you get someone that has no clue of what they are doing take a message to give to the provider. And you get to start the entire process all over again. Like a self-licking ice cream cone. It is disgraceful to call this a military treatment facility! And I had to give 1 Star to post...otherwise I would not had even given one.

Made an appointment at 1130, they did not tell me where in the building i was suppose to go, so i was 10 mins late. The "provider" stated he couldnt see me after that and i had to reschedule for the next week. Think a military hospital would be a little less lazy.

January 2015 I walked into Killabro at 0540ish with my left ankle the size of a softball(felt it pop out and back in place) and holding my right wrist with a sharp pain shooting through it. I sat from 0540ish until about 0630 just for the front desk to tell me they had no available appointments that day and sent me on my way. Here is the kicker once I came back later that day to drop off the paperwork from the outsource they magically had an appointment for me... Needless to say this place is an absolute joke.

I m so over dealing with Kimbrough. I did my research and picked the best pediatric doctor for my kids (based on referrals from other parents), and it s been nothing but a nightmare. When my kids are ill I ve called and been told to simply take them to urgent care because there are no sick appointments. The annual physical is nothing more than paperwork. The actual doctor spends MAYBE 5 minutes with my kids and wants to base life altering decisions for them from the interactions she has with them in that time. My special needs son sees a developmental pediatrician 2x a year where he spends a minimum of 1.5 hours interacting with her, is in MULTIPLE therapies and receives school services. Thanks to the over worked/under staffed military services, most of my sons care is being referred back to the PCM who, I honestly believe, does not think autism is an actual disorder... The doctor actually called me the other day (after not having seen my son in almost a year) about a referral we are trying to get renewed and asked ME if my son still has autism... I have had so many referrals, authorizations and medications be held up, for WEEKS. I call and call and call and no one ever faxes the things they are supposed to. I ve currently been dealing with a diaper authorization for 3 straight weeks and today the lady who picked up actually had the audacity to make an annoyed noise when she realized it was me again, checking to see why the authorization has STILL not been faxed. The diaper supply company has straight up told me this is one of the absolute worst offices they have ever dealt with... I m officially done with Kimbrough as of today. It was a convenient location, but I will travel further from now on. If it weren t for my special needs son, I would switch him to select... but with all his therapies we would literally hit our cap within the first few weeks of a new year, which just isn t something we can financially do every year right after the holidays.

Terrible service, inexperience nurses/doctors and very rude employees. I was told I can only ask 2-3 health regarding questions during my visit because the Doctor didn't have the time, and to make a follow up appointment for the other issues. Not the service our Military deserves.

I left my doctor/nurse a message for them to contact concerning a medical issue, 7 days later still no reply. I call back and reception says oh yes I see your message and tries connecting me with the nurse. I end up waiting 5mins on line and then the phone hangs up. It's a good thing it wasn't an emergency for them to contact me back. Worst military clinic/hospital I had the experience to deal with.

Would not recommend at all. Was involved in a car accident in july, come today I gave up on trying to be seen for therapy. The nurse practitioner I was seen by accused me of avoiding my medical treatment and said i was lying about physical therapy not having openings for months. I called tricare and apparently she never filed my referral in the first place which means I was never even eligible for physical therapy. She told me I would be unable to be put under a limited duty status until after I've gone through therapy, well in the navy I'm required to be on limited duty for my chain of command to send me to therapy. Definitely avoid this facility if possible.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Janeen Commock in Radiology to get my Mammography scans for the last two years. This young lady went above and beyond to help me obtain everything I needed and even called me twice to keep me in the loop. I was very upset about my current Mammogram and she assured me to not worry until such time that I needed to. She had awesome customer service skills. My scans were sent out that day and received today in Cincinnati. As it turns out, she was right. I had nothing to worry about! Thank you Janeen!

My numerous experiences at "Kimbrough" have all bu...

My numerous experiences at "Kimbrough" have all but two been questionable. The dental clinic is generally good, and my optometrist took the time to think-out my problem and came to an effective and accurate solution. He was an Army LtCol, and my dentist was a contractor. Now, for the bad--very bad.

This clinic has a lot of rude, indignant staff who treat you like a piece of brown fecal matter. That's the low-paid civilian staff, so maybe that goes with the territory. My PCM failed to diagnose my ankle symptoms properly, and had me seeing a PT at muscular skeletal because "that's what we do before x-rays and scans..."

For some reason, she thought stretching my ass out would cause my ankle's grinding and pain to magically disappear. Now, I'm all about holistic care and think it's a great approach, but I'm also not an idiot. If I'm waking up with a swollen foot and in pain every morning, maybe the avenue of care is an inappropriate match. She didn't agree.

What really did me in and caused me to write this review is none of the above mentioned, but the fact that I stood barracks duty a night ago and talked to the soldiers, some of who work at the clinic and others who were victims of negligence.

I got to hear all about Kimbrough fails to maintain health and safety standard in the operating room (OR), and no one seems to care. One guy caught Gangrene because of a failure to diagnose, which caused his 3 surgeries and may cause him a medical discharge. SAD! There were a few more similar stories, but less significant.

All my Marine peer who have half the sense God gave a goat say STAY CLEAR! Change your PCM to Annapolis and get care from the good Lord's Navy, or Walter Reed if your crazy and love traffic.

OUT!

While I have heard scary reviews about KACC, my own experience has been good--at least as good as far as the Army is concerned. I'm most familiar with the musculoskeletal center. The female civilian therapist at the end of the hall has many complaints--nice person overall but lacks people skills and education. Dr. Allen is fantastic, as is the Army physical therapist Maj O who I have been told has years and years of education. I absolutely believe it.

One of the worst facilities I have ever had to deal with, on the phone and in person. I can never get ahold of them on the phone and wait forever if I finally do, or if ever talk to an actual person at all. For phone calls you would think this place is a ghost town because no one is ever there to answer and the automated caller tells you to call back later every time. Its rare to find a respectful person anywhere in the building either. If I could go to another healthcare provider easily without getting a "referral" I would. The only reason i want to change duty stations is because of this facility's inability to work properly.

I'm seriously surprised with the fact that everybody rates this hospital so low. My experiences with Kimbrough have been excellent. Navigating the hospital was easy and everyone was willing to point you in the right direction even if you got lost. I had to get my blood drawn from the lab and a couple immunizations and everyone was so friendly and extremely helpful. I understand it's a small hospital on a huge insulation, but that's why there are other military hospitals you can reach out to. For getting easy things done quickly, this is definitely the place to go.

This place refuses to send my dental records to my actual dental provider. When I had to go there for dental work and get a sleep mouth guard, a doctor did not fit me, a hurried nurse did and she messed it up and the cast was disfigured and I can't even use it without waking up in more dental pain I've ever felt than if I just sleep without it. This is the reason I have my medical set up through the Naval Health Clinic, referrals are easy and fast, and I never have any problems other than driving the extra 15 minutes. Kimbrough is TERRIBLE.

I have been a part of the military health care system for 23 years in a couple places overseas and Conus. I absolutely hated my first visit with Kimborough. I took my daughter in to get seen. I arrived 20 minutes early. They couldn't find her records, sent me off to customer service, then tried to refuse seeing us because they said I was late. I explained what happened and was then treated rudely. The doctor kep repeating that she had to hurry because I arrived so late. She was rude and short with my 7 year old. My daughter has a high BMI but is by no means unhealthy or obese and is very active and has a great diet. We do NOT consume any processed/refined foods. She's been on steroids since she was 3. The doctor grabbed my childs stomach (the only place she holds any weight) and poked it. She kept making comments about it while my daughter was painfully aware. She ended the visit by saying she was very healthy except she needs to lose weight....IN FRONT OF MY SENSITIVE 7 YEAR OLD. Who does that?

This facility does not have sick call. Just think about what that means. Soldiers are required to make an appointment in order to receive a sick call slip. Soldiers may be stuck working, infecting other soldiers, and exacerbating their illness for days before they are seen.

After all of that is done, even if the soldier gets well, he or she still must take the appointment in order to get documentation. This wastes everyone's time.

As a military retiree, I have found the medical care received at Kimbrough to be exceptional. This focused and deliberate care is as thorough as any other military medical facility or civilian medical facility I have visited over the years. Kimbrough takes great pride in providing holistic medical care for their military and civilian patients. From the doctors and nurses to staff and customer support, all I ever seen is one team providing unified care. Yes, I d rather not wait on hold for so long for an appointment, yes, getting meds at the pharmacy can take a while, and yes, I would like shorter wait times to see my Doctor. Who doesn t? It is crystal clear to me Kimbrough understands both the art and science of healthcare! I am a very grateful Airman!

I guess I have to give one star, but shouldn t. I have been treated there for over a year and in 5 of 7 visits, I have had to pull the old paper off the patient table because it s used. The rooms are typically dirty and the doctors move you like cattle. Symptoms are treated, not problems. Take your care elsewhere if you care about your health.

First for everyone who is wondering why the rating is so low, you are the exception and not the norm. I have been stationed at Fort Meade three times, and it's only gotten worse over the last 15 years. Appointments are regularly 20 minutes or more behind schedule. It takes 4-6 weeks to get an appointment for routine care like hearing or vision. For clinics like physical therapy, it can take months to get an initial appointment if at all. Referrals take over a week or more to process. When you can get in for an appointment for anything acute, it feels as if your concerns are not being heard and they are trying to push you through the door as quickly as possible.

I had to call twice to get an appointment. The 1st time, the lady at the end of the line put me on indefinite hold, and the second time it took 52 minutes to get someone on the line. by then, they were almost out of spots for the day. I find it ridiculous to not have a walk-in sick parade on an army base. This being said, I put it up to 3 stars as once the hurdles of getting in are solved, the medical service received are gr8. The medical personnel at the facility are professional, friendly and efficient.

I don't see why the other reviews for this place are so bad. My only other experience with a military facility has been at Schofield barracks in Hawaii and the service at Kimbrough was miles ahead. AND calling the appointment line is an absolute nightmare. On hold forever and then the woman answering has a MAJOR attitude! Very unprofessional.

Was told I can only discuss one thing at a time. I have multiple medical problems. It will take me over a year to discuss my medical profile. Unable to make back to back appointments, tried that and unable to make an appointment when you have an appointment. Military medicine is not set up for people with multiple medical problems. Need to civilianize military medicine or at least share hospitals with civilian medicine to accommodate everyone.

It's close to a lot of off post neighborhoods, but with all the surrounding construction, it's sometimes difficult to get to. It's always busy. It's not like there are many other options. The systems go down a lot; both in the clinics and the pharmacy. Appointments are hard to get. The clinic calls and says the doctor wants to see me, and I should make an appointment. So I go to Tricare Online and there are no appointments for the foreseeable future. I see the doctors at Patient First more than I see my PCM. Despite asking several times(as in more than 10) that they use my home phone for contact before they call my cell phone, they always call my cell phone. Gee, if I'm out of the house, I'm probably driving or not in a situation where I can talk openly about my personal medical things. No one wants to discuss their lab results while standing in line at the grocery store. Check your medication renewals. Doctors will randomly change the dose on you because they didn't check what your prior dose was. Getting it changed back can be problematic. If you are prescribed some sort of assistive device (arm canes, compression stockings, etc) they are likely not available. Too many times, I've had doctors tell me "I don't know what to tell you" or "there's nothing I can do for [this specific medical issue]". God forbid you need something stronger than Tylenol for pain. Many of these people are so afraid of stronger pain medications for long term problems that they'd rather just see you in pain. It has been my experience that the orthopedics doctors here are not up on the latest treatments. When I asked about stem cell treatments for arthritis, the doctor said "Oh, that's a LOOOONG way off yet." But I've seen places that advertise doing just that, and on the way in, there was even a radio commercial about it. Perhaps he meant it was a long way off *for military doctors*. If you have a name that isn't run of the mill, chances are it will get mangled. Apparently, people forget how to blend vowels when they work there too long. For instance, Shea is NOT pronounced Sheee - Ah.

Behavioral Health is hit and miss. Some of the therapists are really good. Others...well. Don't go with the 'school based therapist' if they try to direct your child that way. Those people are dangerous. In October, I requested a copy of behavioral health records for a child. It is now February and I do not have these records.

There are some great doctors there, who take the time not only to treat what you came in for, but to tell you all about whatever it is, what you can expect from it in the future, and how to manage it long term if it should be that sort of thing. Clinton in immunizations deserves a 10 stars out of 5 all on his own. My autistic child was terrified of vaccines and had to have several strong men hold her down to get them, even after taking an anti-anxiety pill. Clint can give her a shot and all I have to do is be in the room. She doesn't even need me to hold her hand. He truly has a special touch and manner with children who have a difficult time, and I can't thank him enough for turning this horrific experience into one my daughter can get through all by herself without any special additional care - or strong men to hold her down.

Obviously posting anonymously due to fear of reprisal. This is the worst "medical facility" I have ever been to in my 12 years of service. It's practically useless. Got told I was having a panic attack when I had a 103-degree fever and a case of influenza - just one of the many blunder experiences I've had. And what sort of medical installation doesn't have a sick call? Seriously? This is the sort of low-quality dungeon America should expect to receive for "free" healthcare.

They lost my medical records. They tried to blame me for it but with a little backtracking and help from my chain of command it s very evident that someone is trying to cover their mistake up. I have used this facility for over three years due to convenience (working a swing shift schedule.) My suggestion is that if you re a servicemember and you re able, transfer to any other facility but this one. Besides the incompetent workers and poor quality service, I haven t had a constant PCM at this command. The longest I ve had a doctor was for about six months. The real issue is that some of the doctors are also incompetent. I complained about constant shoulder pains, issues with numbness in my back, and issues with my forearm and almost every MILITARY doctor told me to do some physical therapy and walk it off. When I was finally assigned a civilian doctor she took a closer look, acknowledged that years of PT was not helping and started to devise a plan to get some help for my unrelenting pain.. unfortunately I was transferred PCMs again and now, with Kimbrough quality care, I am no longer seen as a priority or as a person. Thanks for nothing, Kimbrough. The only service I ve received that was lesser than your establishment s was when I was using the reservation s Indian Hospital medical facility (also government run: massively understaffed and under funded.)

Kimbrough Ambulatory Care is one of the best facilities in the State of Maryland. I am not sure why their rating is low. I've always received excellent customer service. I've been going to this facility for more than 7 years. There has been times I've encountered less than professional employees but the majority of the staff has always been courteous and helpful! I have both two (2) great primary care and pediatric doctors. I have never had a problem they could not resolve. My family is rarely ill but we do come to the facility for routine check ups and immunization as needed. I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes. I would recommend this facility to any military family coming to this State.

The optometry department is terrible. My doctor called out and the person at the front desk lied and said they were trying to contact me to let me know. My phone did not ring nor any voicemails left. Then she proceeded to tell me her next available wasnt till April!!!! She was very rude in assisting me when I had already waited three months for this appointment!!! Do not waste your time at this hospital. I recommend the extra drive to Walter Reed! This happened 31Jan2020

I was in need of prenatal care and they were so rude! They told me they don t have don t have doctors for that and that I would have to drive out an hour away. They said that if I didn t like that, I could cancel my insurance and figure it out on my own. The woman who said that was a nurse, can t believe it!

So far so good. Dental care was great though I had to be extern'd to another facility for cleaning. Actually getting a filling and examination here was quick and relatively painless (though I've been going to military facilities since I was a baby so I may be used to it by now?).
Had my physical therapy here and was treated 100% by Doctor Bruno. She got me back to full readiness within a month.
I will change my review the more I go to this facility.

I tried to explain to a doctor that my knee has been in pain for a couple of months, I had a 2 month no running profile so my knee could rest up. So I go again and was told to get another no running profile. Like come on, at least take some X-Rays, just saying that I may have overused my knee can t really tell me much. Kimbrough hasn t really been able to give me any answers when all the doctors theorize my conditions

Horrible, horrible pediatric service! Look into John Hopkins United Family Health plan and choose a private doctor in your area instead. Or make the drive to Walter Reed, it's truly worth it trust me! There are only 3 pediatricians to choose from at Kimborough and I tried 2 of the 3 and both times had terrible experiences. I didn't even bother with the 3rd pediatrician because someone had already informed me that they were equally terrible. They are NOT knowledgable about infants, they're unprofessional and impersonal and hardly ever have availability for appointments when you need them. This area is unique for military family members in that you actually have a choice with Tricare to not be seen at this MTF. I highly suggest you take advantage of that choice!

Most of the staff was misinformed and misguiding in where to send you. Not very handicap accessible. Unprofessional attitude of most of the staff; they seemed frustrated with customers and tried to rush patients. Unpleasant experience. Radiology was great though! Service is better over the phone.

Reviews are 100% correct, this place is a no go. I said I hurt my shoulder, they didn't even look at it and gave me a prescription. For children physical exam they didn't do any of the standard check up procedures like checking the eyes, ears, and nose. Just bad.

As a Soldier who was lucky to be on Tricare Remote...

As a Soldier who was lucky to be on Tricare Remote for ten years seeing civilian Doctors all over the country, I was scared to death to have to see military health practitioners again. Think of the customer service at the DMV or IRS and add medicine to it and that is what it was like. But things seem to have improved a little. The only services that are worth their weight is Behavior Health. Pharmacy is OK too. But vision is always a 30 day wait or more if you can get an appointment at all. Radiology has the typical government employee who is usually acts if they do not like white patients and are rude. If you are lucky to get an appointment, you will never see a doctor, it will always be a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant and they will always (correctly) fish you to a specialist at Walter Reed. To see a Chiropractor, be prepared to wait 2 months in back pain or on meds or drive to Virginia to an AFB to get care.

I have yet to find out why they do not privatize the entire military system, open up choice including other clinics etc. With government unions and waste, I bet it would be actually cheaper to outsource. Some would say, what about the military doctors and nurses etc.? Make them all reserves with massive call up bonuses as needed in times of war and deployment.
