My sweetheart and I came here yesterday night for a live television taping of Neil Patrick Harris' new variety show, "Best Time Ever". It was the show's premier episode and the Audience Warmer-Upper told us that we were the best audience he had seen all season. Har har.

The space here is really large and seems to be very well-stocked with state-of-the-art equipment. The interior studio's walls are lined with industrial quality sound proofing material. I joked around about how if someone were to pick me up and throw me against the wall I would be okay because of said sound-proofing material...it was soft squishy and with a little bit of bouncy-ness...it was also white to off-white and yellowing a but...whoever installed this stuff should have gone with a darker color so that it would better stand the test of time...but I digress...

I like this movie theater because it is historic and it is not crowded. Each theater is big with huge seats and a lot of leg room. I like it they have dinner combo special with Uno's across the street!

Great place to see a movie. The matinee pricing is nice with the tickets around $11. The temperature and seating is also optimal. The only bad thing is that the RPX hall isn't worth the price

Overpriced, like all movie theaters, but this is definitely one of my favorite theaters to go to. Usually clean, and there are a lot of theaters, so they're usually playing everything that's out. It's located in the heart of Astoria, so it's very easy to find a nice restaurant nearby, or just head over to Beergarden afterwards. The subway is also nearby, so it is very accessible.

It is always a pleasure to visit Kaufman Astoria Studios. Although the parking can be a bit of an issue, I was lucky enough to be allowed to park in the P.C. Richard & Son lot (I asked for permission and they granted it.) The security guard (at Kaufman) was friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to speak with. As a fellow licensed New York State security guard, I like to see how others in the same field work and handle their clients. This gentleman did an excellent job. The acting world can sure be tough but when you meet kind people, it confirms that you are on the right path. I had my fitting at Kaufman and the wardrobe folks were so very sweet. Walking into a place like Kaufman always puts a smile on my face. Seeing all of the stages, the great architecture, and the fun atmosphere brings me so much joy. Although I do not live close to the studio and the traffic can be tough, arriving at Kaufman helps me to see things in a positive light. Now, if only Hollywood would call.......

Kaufman Astoria Studios is one of the largest and most sophisticated film and television studios on the East Coast. Many televisions shows and movies have been filmed there, including Blue Bloods, Orange is the New Black and the latest Sesame Street movie.

Parking can be difficult to find in the neighborhood although there are parking lots; they are, however on the expensive side. It is a 5 minute walk from the Steinway Street subway station so that may be a better bet for you.

Tours of the studio are generally not available but once a year in the summer there is a day when they open up some of the buildings and have exhibitions about doing stunts and others aspects of the industry. The Museum of the Moving Image , a museum dealing primarily with TV and movies, is on the same block in Astoria so if you happen to have some reason to go to the Kaufman Studios, you may want to go to the museum on the same day.
