KAPOHOKINE ADVENTURES Review

Just came back from ziplining with Ashleigh and Tydis (sorry if I misremembered the names). We definitely had fun - they were patient with my mom, who was initially scared, and her two friends, who occasionally struggled to keep up. The views are fantastic. I d recommend it to everyone, even those scared of heights!

My wife and I booked a tour of Volcano National Park with KapohoKine Adventures and we loved every minute. They thought of every detail to make this experience special including bringing water and coats in case you didn t have your own. Our tour through the park as well as a local black sand beach was fantastic and culminated with a dinner and wine tasting on the Big Island s only winery. Best of all, our tour guide was Spencer was a wealth of information and shared with us the history, folklore and knowledge of Big Island at every stop on the tour, something we would never have experienced had we visited these places on our own. If you re lucky enough to get him on your tour, make sure to ask him about his spear fishing expeditions!

Had so much fun !!!!! Took the whole family and everyone was able to enjoy the experience. The waterfall and views were amazing. Our guides Greg and Melissa definitely made us first time ATV riders feel comfortable by showing us everything we needed to know. Emily who drove us to the ATV grounds was definitely welcoming and even gave us advice on where to eat. Overall best experience ever, we will be coming back.

The ATV tour was awesome. Good for beginners and more experienced riders. Jae and Derek were great guides!

This was a great time had by all. Krystal was the best if it had not been for her the evening would not been so informative. Super knowledgeable and just a fun person to be a round very energentic and pleasant to have as a tour guide. You should give her raise because she made the difference in our tour. I would have paid twice the price if I known how good she was.

Beautiful kayak adventure around Hilo Bay and waterfalls. We saw some juvenile turtles in Hilo Bay. Went with a big group - 9 in our party, including 5 teenage boys - everyone had an excellent time (lots of fun capsizing kayaks in the waterfalls). Our tour guides were THE BEST. Thanks, Evan and Montana. Evan has an impressive knowledge of local geology which was a hit with our geology geeks :)

THIS IS A MUST DO!! If you are on Hilo or Kona go for a drive. We went for the Zipline, there were 8 lines, took around 3-4 hours long. The staffs were amazing Tiffany, Dylan, Leigh, and Fiona was awesome, funny, and make the Zipline very enjoyable. The line 4,7,8 was the best ones, you get to see hundred foot long waterfall, 7 and 8 was long, beautiful view if you look down of the Stream. AGAIN it is a must go, it is better to go look at Groupon for the best price. Me and my brother really enjoy this Zip lining, one of the memories will be hard to forget.

Great fun exhilarating afternoon! Our driver Jess was a wealth of entertaining information. She can give you the local lowdown on where to eat and what to do. Our guides Tiffany and Ona were tons of fun and entertaining as well. Such a fun time, and we got to crack macadamia nuts as a halfway snack. All three ladies were so sweet, funny, and professional. As a bonus we were able to pick guava fruit from the trees! Sooo yummy!!! Thank you!

Kyle Smith was an outstanding transportation guide / lunch chef! He had many great stories and made us all feel welcome / appreciated!

Zack Block made Rippin a blast! He took us through many great mud holes and to the waterfall swim. Buddy, I hope you win a trip to the mainland so that you can appreciate that great island of yours that much more. His co-guide Casey was a treat too.

We had a fabulous time mudding with Zac and KC. Awesome guides that made sure we were comfortable with our razor and journey. Loved stopping to see the waterfall and even went swimming in the rain. Highly recommend this excursion and be prepared to get muddy!! Two thumbs up!

Todd, our guide, was knowledgable, personable, industrious, and caring. He worked hard to provide a good adventure despite a five inch deluge of rain at the coffee farm. He made the best of the weather which was beyond anyone's control. Good evening!

We had so much fun ziplining!- Derek was our driver, and our guides were Tiffany and Emily. We had a great time, even in the rain, and our guides made us feel totally safe and comfortable ziplining over the waterfalls!

This is by far the funnest place I ve ever been too, the BBQ rips was the past part lol but the ATV crew fuirtloops -imi,eddy, mana were friendly and funny one said slow down the other said speed up but don t tell them I told you lol sorry don t get in trouble haa, the zipline was beautiful, I got beautiful shots and vids from the zip lines thank you!!

I had an amazing time! The tour was beautiful, lots of mud, fun curvy trails. The waterfall was awesome, such a great experience to swim under. The staff were super fun. Shoutout to Jae and Joey! Ask for them and you ll have fun trails!

Rented 2 paddle boards for an hour with my wife. The employee handling the rental did not advise us that conditions were windy and that it would be very hard to paddle board for beginners. As soon as we got out on the water (after no instructions from the employee other than paddle Into the wind) we realized the conditions were too windy to make a go of it and returned the paddle boards. The employee refused to refund anything and said that we should have read up on it ahead of time. Total lack of service and courtesy. Would not recommend. To the owner your employee is very rude.

My wife and I did the zipping thru paradise tour. The 8 line zip course was amazing! Tiffany, Kendal, and Nichol were fantastic guides as well.

Fun and informative. Bring clothes for cold, rain, wind, and Rocky terrain. A good light helps. The volcano tube and volcano winery were our favorite stops.

We did the zip and volcano tour. Our guide was PJ and he was excellent. He picked us up in Kona at 7:30 and drove us to Hilo for the zipline. Tony, Dishman and the others at the zipline seem to love their jobs and made it a wonderful experience for all. We had every age group and dynamic in our group and it seemed everyone was having a wonderful trip. I know my GoPro videos are wonderful. Then PJ took us and another couple to the volcanos, dinner at the Winery and back to see sunset at Jagger Museum. We had a great view and even got a glimpse of lava. We started our time on the Big Island with this tour and the guides offered some wonderful suggestions for other places to see and eat. Highly recommend!!

So much fun! Everyone working there loves it and they genuinely want others to have a good time! The new ATV tours are very fun; a little short for how much it costs but the tour guides make up for it. Overall an amazing place and a super fun time.

My wife and I came to the big island for the first time ever and along with the many various water activities we booked on the Kona side (which was where our timeshare property was) we knew we wanted to do something different and so we booked the fairly new Razor ATV 1/2 day activity on the Hilo side to hopefully get that adrenaline rush we live for! The entire staff (from the check in staff at the beginning to the drop off shuttle driver at the very end) everyone on the staff was super friendly and professional. Eddie, Ann, Ken, Melissa, Jae, and Jordyn were all amazing! We highly recommend it if you don't mind getting a bit (ok very) muddy! Totally worth it!!! 5 Stars hands down!! We plan to come back and Zipline next time for sure! Thank you Kapohokine staff for making our Hawaii vacation so memorable!!!

This zip lining adventure was amazing. If you are hesitant fear not this one is for you. I m scared of heights but I conquered it. The first two were slightly intimidating but the other 5 came easy and those are the ones over forest. The zip line guides were incredible from start to finish. If I could change anything about my visit to Hawaii it would be that we do this first.

They gave us tons of informative information about the island as well as places to visit which would have been handy except we went on our last day.

Our driver Maddie was great she was a very cheerful person although we were a bit quiet. Thankfully she had my mom up front to talk to. She gave us some good Hilo information and places to visit and eat. Even the lady that was checking us in was great. She is definitely the face you want to see before you do something you are fearful of.

The fear was something we had to overcome quickly and we were a family of many different fear and age levels. My mom was deathly afraid and she conquered it with the continued support and encouragement from all the guides. My little sister (10) was a beast and she took off with no problem. For the little (in size) kids they give a little extra push if needed or also (if needed) they ride tandem with them.

Shout out time! I m starting with McKenna because she rescued me in the middle of the zipline thank you, you are a beast. kendall, you could really tell you loved this job, little did you know the small things help and you just leaning back on your ropes helped create a sense of trust in me in my ropes. Forest, wasn t even part of our group but he was still a huge help in moving it forward for us as he helped move clips over while we waited for our guys. Also, he always had so many facts to share. My brother and sister were first in our tour group and my brother told us later, you guys didn t get to know Forest like I did, Forest is great . Finally, Alex you were absolutely amazing. There were times I felt like I was in a history class but it was ok because he helped pass the time and you could see a genuine joy in sharing the information. Also most importantly he helped my mom feel like she could do it and made sure he was always available when she came in to brake because she was scared and was worried no one else would be able to get her up. This zip lining adventure was amazing. If you are hesitant fear not this one is for you. I m scared of heights but I conquered it. My sons & I had the most amazing day today with Jess, Eddie and our all our guides. Friendly, kind, and the teams knowledge of the Big Island and Hawaiian culture made for a very memorable day. My Wife and I went on the ATV Razer Tour where we were able to drive the vehicle for over 3 hours!This is a MUST do adventure for the Big Island of Hawaii. After you get all muddy, you get to swim in a private waterfall!!!! So much fun!!!

Imi King, John, Mana (the fruit loop crew) did a great job taking care of us throughout the track. They explained it well for us newbies so we were safe and had a tone of fun. We got fresh macadamia nuts off the tree half way through.

Jordyn did a great job getting us ready for the one of the must do adventures of the big island. She picked us up and brought us back happy!

Went with a group of friends for a fun ATV ride into he morning. Eddie and Jay, Ben ws our van driver, we're our guides and we had a great time. They had us moving safely through the trails and nice swim at a water fall. If in Kona or Hilo this is a must do, they also have ziplines and other adventures.

We did the Hike and Glow tour on 12/30/16 and thought it was the best experience on the Big Island. Chris was an energetic and knowledgeable guide. Great value for an all-day excursion from Kona to Hilo to Volcanoes National Park/Volcano Winery.

Jon our guide was amazing. His knowledge and enthusiasm was incredible. We enjoyed the coffee farm and dinner. It was very cold the night we were star gazing but Jon didn t quit and we were able to see many interesting constellations and stars.much enjoyed evening!!!!

I can t tell you what an amazing adventure this was!! Emily our driver made the drive fun and interesting!!

So much fun! We went Ziplining and were lucky to have Alex be our driver. He shows you sights along the way to your Zip adventure and tells you what kinds of trees and animals are along the route. Then we were even luckier to have "The A Team" (Ashley and Alison) be our guides. The ladies made the experience so much fun, talked about your surroundings, pointed out hidden views so you didn't miss out, and made the experience unforgettable.

Wonderful first time experience zip lining. Staff is very well informed and super friendly. Loved all the side knowledge they had about nature and plants. They make the experience a blast.

On our recent visit to the island, we researched a couple of zipline places and chose KapohoKine due to having dual lines & waterfalls. What surprised us the most was the breathtaking views and the amazing staff, from Melissa (aka Wonder Woman) to Emily, Leigh & Kalani...these girls rock and made our experience so much fun! They also have the most up to date and advanced equipment so we felt safe the entire time.

We came during Halloween but I think Melissa's costume is her actual work attire...LOL. We will definitely be back...Mahalo!!

Great guide, great scenes, great night sky views! Well worth it!

Four of us booked the Evening Volcano Explorer with hotel pickup in Kona. I'm glad we didn't have to drive that far so late at night. There are no bathrooms on the van but the driver makes regular stops where there are clean restrooms and plenty to see.
It was a long but very enjoyable day tour with only 10 in our group. The guide Lawrence began his narration with the hotel pickups. He's a smart and funny guy! We learned a lot from him about the island.
I agree with all the other high reviews. I can't stress enough that most tourists don't dress warmly enough for this evening tour. It was very cold and gusty near the crater. You will freeze in shorts and light sweater. Our driver stayed with the van so we could securely leave our jackets, backpacks and binoculars in the van.
I had to purchase a sweatshirt at the Volcano Winery for a third layer. Their wines were terrible compared to CA ones and their BBQ was OK. Don't expect gourmet food on this trip, but everything else was stellar. I'll be happy to book other tours with this company. Whaaat! They sell clothes too?

This store is amazing! Has everything you need plus more! And the people working there are super nice too.

My FAVORTIE activity company. Finally got to test our the RAZRs they have while doing the Rip and Zip tour. Casey and Luke was a lotta fun getting us around the Rip course and trails, loved the ruggedness of it. Ate amazing grub while at the waterfall and made some mimosas...yummmmm......On our Zip Tiffany was a blast keeping us laughing in the beginning the middle and on the drive back.
Gision(sp sorry!!), Deven, and Jesse shared their knowledge they had About the surroundings, as well as kept us feeling safe throughout all the lines.
Overall 10/10 experience. Next on the list is an island tour.

The experience was awesome. Eight lines side by side. This was one of our favorite activities on the Big Island. Will definitely do again. And the staff, Tiffany, David and Allison were phenomenal, energetic, funny and very friendly. Mahalo to all!!

My family and I took the 12 hour around the big island tour. I recommend this trip to see the island in a day. Our tour guide TODD was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered questions.
Our lunch was great and at a perfect spot on black beach picnic area.
Views were breathtaking. We did a lot of stops and not only seen everything on the list but had time for a few extras.

Wonderful experience! One suggestion take a change of clothes, including shoes, since is the rainiest part of the island.

This was a great tour of the Volcano Kilauea. Our tour guide Chris S. Was very well versed and informative.
We had an opportunity to explore a lava tube that had just opened back up after a 2 year closure. We stopped at a winery and enjoyed wine tasting and a nice bbq. You all need to know it is COLD COLD COLD. You wouldn t be overdoing it if you brought gloves and a heavy coat. On the way back we enjoyed nice stories from Chris...good job.

Todd was a great guide-excited and very informative about both Kona coffee and the night sky.Learned a lot and had a great time! Kept us warm with a big coat and hot chocolate! did! The guide was able to speak Japanese and explained clearly. it's recommended.

My 11 year old and I had an awesome time with Kapoho Kine Adventures. I was really reluctant to try ziplining because I suffer from ridiculous reactions to heights but my son loves adventures so off we went. My kiddo actually ended up being afraid to step off the first platform. Of course, after he got himself off that first platform he LOVED everything! I was so surprised that I had no problems stepping off the platforms and zipping. My hardest parts were walking the plank bridges and standing on the platforms. Honestly I closed my eyes for those parts.
I loved that the harness is checked multiple times by different people - that really made me feel at ease and safe. All the employees are SUPER nice and calming. The automatic or magnetic braking system - Aaah I can't even imagine not having it and I wouldn't want to stop any other way.

I went zip lining with my 80 year old grandmother and it was awesome! The whole crew was super nice and patient. Oma was able to do everything! We had a blast, thank you!

Born and raised in Hilo I don t do much touristy stuff. Never really thought about it. But it was Christmas and I wanted to give my wife something she can remember for a long time so we got a kama aina rate and booked the 12/25/2018 zip through paradise. All I can say is braaaaah. Haha was mean! Everyone was so chill but insanely attentive to details and our safety. Guarans going again.

Amazing, amazing amazing! I had the best time zip lining with Paulina and Dishman today. I am terrified of heights and they encouraged me and made me feel comfortable the whole time. I would definitely do this again, and I recommend everyone give them a shot if you re looking for a memorable experience.

Kapokohine adventures gave me the opportunity to have a quick view of the whole island. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, kind, and funny. He even took us to the famous bakery in town and to an extra candy store. The only thing I did not like, and it has to be with how the tour is organized and not with the tour guide, is that we spent almost 80%of the time on this tour in the van we kind of rushed through places, being there from 15 to 20 minutes max- I mean- being at the National Park for like 30 minutes is almost like you were not there. Minimal opportunity to explore or truly enjoy the few sites we actually stopped at. However, like I said, this has to do with the tour itself, as there is no way you can explore the whole island in 12 hrs under different conditions.
Overall, a good experience, but if you truly want to take your time on the different sections of the island, I wouldn't recommend.

First ziplining experience! This was a great time. Would highly recommend; guides were knowledgable, enthusiastic, and funny. There were some awesome views of the ocean and hilo, as well as all the rivers and a few waterfalls.

We did the RZR ATV Tour, and it was great.

This tour uses the Polaris RZR 4-seater SxS UTVs (not the quads you might normally think of as ATVs). You can go either as a solo driver, or a driver with up to 3 passengers (kids or adults).

When we did the tour, it was on & off drizzling, with a heavier rainfall the night before... which means we were basically mudding. You will get covered head to toe in mud, wear clothes that you don't mind getting muddy in. Although the surrounding area was beautiful and there were two waterfall destinations, the main purpose was the aggressive off-roading. Our tour guide was Zac, he was great.

The ride was about a 30 minute van ride away from the KapohoKine storefront at the Doubletree, at least half of which was on bumpy dirt roads.

So amazing!! My daughter and I went for my birthday. It was perfect in every way! We had a great group and the guides made the trip so much fun!! The course was over beautiful scenery and waterfalls. The ride to and from the zip line course was interesting, as well, with all the local information provided by our driver. Thank you for an experience of a lifetime!!

Most amazing adventure I have done in Hawaii! I was so scared at first but the guides were simply incredible at putting my fear of heights at ease. I am so glad I did this tour and would do it again! The views are breathtaking!

My wife and I booked the Hawaii Island Odyssey tour and we loved every minute! Our tour guide Erik, who happens to be the Manager, was full of knowledge not only about each stop on the itinerary but everything in between. The tour guide who was supposed to take us called in sick and Erik who could have easily cancelled our tour because there was only three of us scheduled drove us himself. If I could rate our experience higher than 5 stars I would!

Rich was a nice guy for the stargazing tour, though we didn t end up seeing any stars, he is humorous and nice

We went on the Volcanoes and Waterfalls tour with Sloan. He was a great guide, very knowledgeable abut the area, its history, plants and animals, plus he's an excellent driver with a wonderful sense of humor. I highly recommend both this company and Sloan.

We had an amazing time !! The guides were fun the whole time while trying to keep you safe and keep you comfortable throughout the whole experience (Devin, Destiny, Greg, and Ona were ours). I would definitely recommend this for anybody who is interested in zip lining!

For my first time ziplining it exceeded my expectations. The lines get longer as the day goes on. The staff was entertaining and safety is there number one priority. The views on the lines were spectacular with numerous waterfalls.

We had a wonderful time on the ATV tour. The staff was very accommodating. They gave us same day reservations and patiently and politely waited for us while we were running 15 minutes late due to traffic delays. We did the volcanoes national park tour with volcano winery dinner. Really exceptional sights from rainforests to hardened lava cliffs to active volcano steam vents and glowing lava. Most of the sights are accessible for a $20 pass into the park but with our tour guide Ashley we got the best information and history. She's a local who truly knows almost everything about the islands. She really made the experience one of the best. The dinner and wine tasting was also very good. Volcano Winery has some excellent wines. Ashley also had snacks, water, jackets, etc for the ride and picked us up on the way instead of having us drive out of our way. Excellent service and great company!

Zip lining was a blast with Ona and Tiffany! They were very helpful and super funny it made it a lot of fun! Thank you guys. Courtney was an awesome driver as well with a lot of information about that area.

Ziplining with KapohoKine Adventures was well worth the cost and provided was an excellent first excursion in Hilo. We absolutely loved every person who worked with the company from our check-in to Gabriella our driver to all of our amazing zipline guides. We got super lucky, too, to be a part of an incredibly kind and gregarious group of fellow zipliners. The scenery is gorgeous and gets increasingly better with each new line. It s a great activity for all ages -- the group behind us included some adventurous children while our group ranged from 16-65. The entire excursion far exceeded our expectations. I'm still in shock at how incredible the guides were -- ziplining would not have been the same without each one of them guiding us and I am so sad that I did not record all of their names so I could give them individual shout outs (we participated nearly three weeks ago in August 2019).

Had the best time with my girlfriends thanks to the amazing team members! We opted for a day tour where we saw many beautiful sights with our knowledgeable tour guide. PJ and our zip line guides Tiff & Dishman filled our day with humour and made the experience so much better! Photo ops on the zip line were a plus to capture memories. Ended our day with a trip to Volcano Winery where we had wine tasting & a delicious dinner.

Stayed with us All day cooked Yummy BBQ lunch while we swam under the waterfall. Then got us home safely!! (Hope you enjoy your AFL footy!!) Had a great time on the Zipline Through Paradise adventure! Our zip guides, Ikaika, David, and Dishman, were tons of fun, and gave the tour some real personality! Every step of the way felt safe and secure, and the gear was in great condition. Nathan, our driver, was also very friendly and had a lot of good local information to keep the drive interesting! Highly recommend!

We had such a great time! The guides are very professional and knowledgeable about everything Hawai i and zippering. They are well trained to think safety first but still have a great time! The jokes were great! They were all so great at strong encouraging safety, so much so; that my 11 year old felt comfortable with zipping this beautiful zip course with Confidence. Thank you. Mahalo.

This was an amazing experience, not just because you are zip lining through Hawaii but because the staff really adds to the experience. Jess, Josh, Ike, and Nathan were great! My parent purchased this trip for my sister, son and I since they have gone multiple times and taken their friends. We had requested Destiny because my mother, sister and daughter have zipped with her before and she is amazing but she had gone with the group prior to ours. I was impressed at how every one of them called us by name which really made it personal. They took the time to explain everything and point out which directions we should look and how to rotate ourselves to get the best angle. They were extremely methodical in hooking each of us up time and time again which made it evident safety was their highest priority. It was obvious they enjoyed their jobs although I don't see how you couldn't, spending your day zipping around over that beautiful terrain. The waterfalls are incredible and when you stop for a short break you have an amazing view of one of them as you eat local fruit and nuts. Jess did a great job explaining while Ike gave us a comical demonstration and I think Josh had some great moves which the Go Pro captured. Nathan gave us an awesome tour on our way up to their facility, sharing information and history about the area. When it was over I wanted to go back up and do it all over again. I would highly recommend Kapohokine Adventures to anyone looking for an exciting and unique adventure on the Big Island.

The staff was amazing and accommodating. The views are spectacular and it is a much do bucket list adventure.

Did the ATV ride. Eddie and J were our guides and Ben was our driver. They were extremely patient since some of our group had never driven an ATV before. They worked with us and showed us a great time. Would recommend this tour to people of all ages.
