Kalahari Resort, Sandusky Review

Just FANTASTIC! Everyone can have plenty of fun. I can't wait to go back.

My favorite place on earth along with cedar point, and guess what there both in Sandusky.

As clean as can be for an indoor water park. Very fun time, relatively easy to find and get to. Even if you're not an overnight guest it's still nice day trip.

Location is great, the room is huge and there is great service. The water park is really fun

The convention center is amazingly large! Great for massive events

Great weekend family getaway! The resort had all the amenities to include daily activity for the kids, the arcade was very well equipped and the water park was really nice and had rides for kids of all ages and for the adults too, our favorite happened to be the lazy river! The room was a two story room with 2 bathrooms and the staff was kind enough to drag a pull out bed upstairs and all the kids had fun sleeping in the same room while the adults enjoyed drinks and game night downstairs! The hotel itself is a bit outdated but the reasonable price and the amenities make up for the old carpeting and wallpaper.

We had a nice little get away!! Was very nice and relaxing for Mother's Day !!! #firsttime

We had another awesome time here! We had an awesome suite! We got on every last #waterslide therewas! the new ones are awesome! We were able to get on all of them again and again during our 3 day stay! We couldn't have asked for a better weekend! The weather was super duper hott! so we spend most of our time outdoors, until theu closed. The lifeguards were awesome and most of them love their jobs! Thank you! #detroitchic

Great enterainment complex. They absolutely thought of everything. I love a swim-up bar. Drinks are great. Food is pretty good as well. Best pizza on Earth. I love a lazy river. Took the boys age 14, they enjoyed themselves playing water ball and swimming in the wave pool and eating chili cheese fries. We stayed over night and enjoyed the arcade the next day. Decent Desert room, nice and clean, no bugs. Just a fun time with family.

Kalahari Resorts is the BEST!!!!! I remember when I went tried everything they had to offer. We live in Maryland so it was 5 hours. We stayed in a hotel in Youngstown, OH. Me and my family had so much fun. My favorite ride was the Green Slide there. We would go back but sence the Coronavirus is here you can't really do anything, I am sure everyone knows how that feels. :) :) :) :) :)

The water park was really nice for the kids but, our room was not the greatest the TV wouldn't work, the hair dryer wouldn't work and, the air conditioners was not operating

Awesome water park! High prices but great food. Everything you could want, all in one location!

We're here for Colossalcon, the staff is sweet, the hotel is gorgeous, and the rooms are super comfy!

Great time to visit as not crowded. Bad time as numerous slides closed for day. Phone from Cabana not working, Cabana safe not working. Food was just okay accept the dessert counter in lobby - delicious! Still had great time with daughter and grandsons.

The arcade was awesome and the sweets were fresh and clean.

Nice place. Took the kids when they were younger. Probably would be more fun now since there A little older. Nice clean rooms and so much to do. I would recommend at least 2 nights. Beware it is A money pit .

There was a supervisor that was really rude during my stay named MeLissa. Me and my family will not be staying at Kalahari again. Me and my family witness the said supervisor throw a vacuum at a nother employee.

We stayed for a night in combination suite, it was very clean and well maintained. Great place to hang out with family. The only thing which bothered was too much of chlorine in the water which made burning sensation in eyes and throat.

Had a ball here but some rooms smell like water mildew

Fun but a lot of other guests were disruptive (we could smell someone smoking weed a few doors down)

Great vacation getaway for the whole family. Always something to do!

Perfect for families with kids. If you re drive is over 2 hours you might as well book a room. You get waterpark entry included with the price of the room, which for a family of 4 is actually cheaper than buying park entry for all 4.

Best to come in summer months as the bigger slides are outdoor. However there is a lot indoors that makes it worthwhile in winter too. We ve done both seasons and have had a great time.

Convention food could be better, very nice place for a convention

Nice place, very large, clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Lots of amenities. Prices however, were on the high side. Not a lot of healthier foods seemed to be available.

Loved it. Real nice conference center and family getaway.

Has something for everyone. The restaurant we had dinner at was accommodating for kids, adults, and everyone in between. Loved it!

Wanted to come here for a long time... It was ok. The ceiling in the pool areas is partially translucent which is nice but the areas with a regular ceiling are dimly lit. Kind of weird swimming in dark areas. We were here President's Day and the staff had a difficult time keeping the pool areas clean.

Me and my family this was our first visit here for the most part the first day everything was fine we enjoyed ourselves so much that we extended our day to another day because we were unaware of all the things the outside had to offer , the next day not so fine ...... we stood in line so long the next day that by the time we was waited on the attendant didn t know what she was doing so after standing in line so long she had to give us to another attendant to finish our reservation I think she needs more training , by the time we got back in the pool it was closing smh, we got our swipe badge went to our new room 3520 the light was not working on the bathroom they called maintenance up he said after replacing the bulbs that there was probably a shortage in the bathroom outlet , after an hour goes by all the light in the room was not working we tried calling the desk but no answer so we used the tv light to see in the room I really think u have a electric issue in that room not sure if I m the first to report this or not , also I was charged more at one stand then the other didn t understand that if it s all operating under the same company! Was thinking of hosting a birthday party there but ummm we will see

Great place for family's. Kids had way to much fun and more activities than an overnight stay would allow. Next time we will have to stay 2 nights at least. Restaurants could be cheaper but that is to be expected when eating out a place like this.

The park is huge with lots to do. Only issue is when it got busy they still had slides closed and certain areas closed. Had they been open it would have relieved some of the cluster.

Stayed with some friends in the villa. Lovely place, and totally worth the cost. I indulged at the spa with the Kouples package, and Courtney the nail specialist, Lindsey the facialist, and Kasey (maybe Kayla?) the masseuse. Highly recommended. I've had such a relaxing weekend, I already can't wait to return!

Affordable fun under the sun. My family and I have been here a multitude of times, From birthdays to just weekend getaways especially during the winter. Every time is a different experience of greatness, where we founder something new to do.

Very fun , lots to do. The rooms we're very clean !

Spent a day at the water park and really enjoyed the rides, although the price of admission was rather high. $70 a person is crazy, especially when most of the time is spent waiting in line at the various rides. Ventilation could also be much better as it was sometimes hard to breathe. In the end, a $40 - $45 admission would have been a better price tag.

Lots of fun! The price wasnt bad for the week but the alchohol is a bit pricey. (Bring your own drinks) all in all you'll be sure to enjoy your stay

Its really nice place for family I visited 5 times in last 2 year.

Beautiful Establishment very impressed. Beautiful Island decor throughout the resort pools and hot tubs inside an out fun for all ages Beautiful decor inside the rooms comfortable and clean friendly staff definitely will be back!

This is our families fourth time to the Kalahari Sandusky. The first time the kids were 8 and we just celebrated their 21at birthday. Again, we had a fabulous time. The food, water park, hotel rooms were fantastic. It is so much fun to take people who have never been to Kalahari because they are amazed at how big and beautiful the park and hotel is. There is so much to do for every age group and truly the food is great. We had a wonderful weekend. I'm sure we will be back for another wonderful stay. This week and we stayed in a suite and had a group of 10. We have also stayed in one of the villas that slept 20- perfect. Highly recommended!!!

Great place for kids in the winter to splash and have fun.

Very clean staff stay on top of sanitizing they will help with anything you need very fun not too pricy either my husband and i and our kid's had a blast and we'll return soon

So, I took my kids up the day before Fathers day, and the hotel was booked solid. Then they didnt tell me the water park only opened at 930. Then they extended it to 10am because you couldnt buy passes until then. Everyone I encountered while purchasing tickets and passes was very shady and seemed like they were unwilling to help with simple requests. Then someone stole my keys. And they said noone was around my bag at all. Now im.stuck without aaa or a locksmith.

A huge place with a lot of amenities and great help

We had so much fun here! The resort and rooms were awesome, and I loved the deep tubs. The water park and convention center were huge. We plan to go back next year. The only thing that made me uneasy was the lack of security. There were no workers near the side entrance to my room. There were no workers checking the hallway. There was no security around at all that I could see. Nothing happened though, I'm just always aware of my surroundings and would've felt safer with security or staff around at night.

It exceeded my expectations. The King Suite we had was extremely nice, large and clean. The beds were not really comfortable, but no bed is as comfortable as your own. The indoor water park was huge, clean and entertaining for the 3 days we were there. I found it to be a little on the cool side on Tuesday compared to the Sunday when we first got there. The water and air seemed cooler, you could tell there was a noticeable difference in the air temp coming from the system and I guess if I had one complaint that would be it. The staff was always friendly and the food was good enough for us. We really enjoyed it, we plan to return in the summer so we can enjoy both the indoor and outdoor parks.

I stayed in room 2538, and woke up to bed bugs crawling on the sheets! I went to management where I was treated very rudely. I was not given an apology, or any sort of discount, despite the fact that we checked out early due to being so grossed out by the bugs. I even had a picture to show them, and they wouldn't admit they have a problem. We saw and heard of others who had the same problem.

Kalahari needs to take this problem more seriously and get it under control! Housekeeping told me they don't have training to deal with bed bugs, but they are the ones taking the complaints and dealing with it. We come to dance conventions here often, and will not be staying here again.

I've had lots of fun at this waterpark/arcade hotel.

Last weekend was our first time here. Groupon was running a great deal for $99/night 2 adults 2 children and $100 worth of tokens for the game area. We go to check in and some how groupon screwed up our stay but the receptionists were friendly and understanding. The room we had was decent,1st floor,high ceiling and we had a little sitting area outside like a porch. My biggest pet peeve with hotel rooms is the sink not being in the bathroom,which was the case here. The refrigerator and microwave were missing feet so they will tilt and slide as soon as we opened them. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. The resort has a lot of things to do. There is a variety of pools and hot tubs. Luckily they have a 21+ hot tub area because the other 2 were over run with children. The gaming area was fun,no broken games and very clean. The B-lux restaurant had great burgers and shakes. The buffet was amazing. Great selection of food and very friendly staff. Overall great experience and will definitely go again.

Great friendly helpful staff, awesome rides, addicting arcade games, the best ice cream you'll ever have, rooms are spacious and comfortable. always clean. I've been to both the Sandusky and Pocono Mountains locations and both are equally fun and family friendly.

Every single time we go here we have a blast. We went her our first time for a homeschooling convention and found it to be a great family friendly location. I would recommend going mid-week when there aren't as many people and you can get better rates. Also, try to go in the off season of fall or spring and you can also catch a break in prices. Overall we've been pleased every time we've gone here.
