I really like the training environment... I've trained with the owner on and off for over a decade now and let me tell you his bjj is top notch! If you're a beginner you won't find students with big egos here. The instructors are highly skilled and polite. If you live in Plymouth or nearby, I strongly suggest you give it a try.

Easily one of the top facilities in the midwest. Three of the top blackbelts in Michigan on the mat at any given time, a world class judo instructor, and dozens of other great teachers. Love it here!

Kaizen Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a phenomenal gym! Whether you are wanting to begin training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or have been training for years, Kaizen BJJ is a premiere school. The instructors are not only experts but have the ability to teach and develop students! What I have come to like most about Kaizen BJJ is that I can train hard, develop my skills in BJJ, learn self-defense, and get in shape. And I can do all of this alongside men and women who don't simply value but demonstrate humility and respect for each other. I plan to train at Kaizen BJJ as long as possible...Hope to see you on the mat!

I first started training with Professor Ryan Fiorenzi in 2008 after being recommended by other Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners around my grappling level. I was very impressed with not only his knowledge and skill as an instructor, but also in him as a person. I specifically enjoyed the "leave your ego at the door" mentality that he promoted at his school, so much that I follow this to date at my own academy. If you're looking for a good school to train at, or are just in the area visiting, I recommend stopping by and checking Kaizen BJJ out!

This school has one of the most welcoming atmospheres and a great group of people. Everyone is really down to earth and nobody has a giant ego or that "tough guy/girl" mentality. If you are on the fence about trying one of their classes, I'd highly recommend coming in. You won't regret it.

great school! I'm from Alaska and only got to go to two classes while I was in town but I've trained in schools across the nation and this school sets the bar for ego less talented tough competitors. I felt welcome from the moment I entered the door till I left with new friends and skills. 5 star school, especially if you're just passing through.

After nearly 6 months of training here I still love this place as much as I did the first day. Professor Ryan Fiorenzi is amazing as others have attested and the other instructors too are all top notch. Both the staff and students are very welcoming, supportive, and will make you feel right at home. Looking forward to sticking with these guys for a long time to come and hopefully I'll see you, too on the mat :).

For me, Kaizen has become so much more than just a place to train. The best decision I ever made was walk through the front door thanks to a "free 30-day trial." I soon learned not only do you get top level Jiu-Jitsu training with beginner level drills mixed with high level techniques, but you feel like you're part of a family. Everyone, no matter the belt color, takes turns being the student but also teachers. People have stopped mid-roll at times, just because they want to improve one another's form and see the other person get better. Thanks to everything Professor Ryan teaches on and off the mat, Jiu-Jitsu hasn't just become a hobby of mine. It's become a way of life, at the time I needed it most. Go for it people! Even if you're going from the Couch to Kaizen... I hope to meet you soon on the mat!

Kaizen Jiu Jitsu is probably the best gym to train...

Kaizen Jiu Jitsu is probably the best gym to train BJJ in Michigan for many reasons. For one and I think most importantly Ryan Fiorenzi is one of the best instructors I have ever met.

He is patient, nice, and does a great job teaching and making sure his students are grasping what it is he is teaching. There is no ego at Kaizen Jiu Jitsu either. Everyone there is beyond cool and more than willing to help you out. You will feel welcomed from the first class as a white belt without question.

Also, nowadays I think there's a problem with people getting black belts that haven't really earned them and opening up Jiu Jitsu schools. This is not the case with Ryan. He is a legitimate black belt through Rigan Machado. His lineage is as official as it can get.

The pricing for membership is VERY reasonable as well. If you are looking to take up such a incredible sport rather it be to get in shape, learn self defense, or even take it to a competition level this is the ONLY gym you need to go to!

I ve known Professor Ryan Fiorenzi for some time. He is an author and 4th degree black belt. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, but he always takes the time to listen and give constructive input. Regardless of your experience or skill level, he provides the same level of exceptional instruction and service.

If you are looking to train in a comfortable, professional, clean and relaxed environment I strongly suggest you consider Kaizen BJJ Plymouth.

I ve known Professor Ryan Fiorenzi for over fifteen years. When I began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu he had a BJJ school on the west side of town. Although I lived on the east side of town, I would make that long drive to attend his school to receive top notch instruction and training from him via private and group. During that time there weren t many schools in Michigan to train at, but by far his school was definitely the school to attend for west siders, Fifteen years later that fact doesn t change. I ve watched him grow rapidly has an instructor and practitioner, and I m extremely proud to have received my brown belt in BJJ from Professor Fiorenzi. Now that I m a BJJ Machado Black belt, I can honestly say that Professor Fiorenzi is one of the best instructors Michigan has to offer, and I am humble enough to say as a BJJ black belt, I still learn from him to this day!

I have trained under Prof Ryan Fiorenzi for almost ten years and he is one of the most humble and knowledgeable Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors I have ever had the pleasure of training with. I have made many friends and had more opportunities to train with other great people while training with Ryan at Kaizen Jiu Jitsu.

It's going to be hard for me to express in words how Kaizen Jiu Jitsu has changed my life, but, here I go...My family and I have been training at Kaizen close to 3 years. I started my kids at ages 3 and 4. I would start training a little while later.

I was out of shape and 30 pounds overweight. I was having a difficult time keeping up. Sensei Ryan Fiorenzi really took the time to help me and my family to flourish. Once I really was able to train, I was seeing some crazy results. The 30 pounds, gone...cardio, 1000% improvement, success on the mat, I'm loving it. I'm 5ft 5 and in my 40's, and I shouldn't be doing what I'm doing. Well, that was my old way of thinking. Anything is possible, now. I was "rolling" (sparring on the mat) with someone over 300 pounds, today, and I was never in danger! Learning self defense, getting in great shape, and making the impossible, possible. Also, I have made some real great friendships that have impacted my life and inspired my mindset for success.

Thank you Kaizen for giving me the skills to have success on the mat and in life. Signing up to train at Kaizen was one of the best decisions of my life.
Brian Smith (I know, but, it's really my name!)

I met Professor Fiorenzi in Ottawa Canada. At that time he was only a blue belt learning from the famous Machado brothers. He made a 8 hour drive because he wanted to train with the best. Over 15 years later, he still has that same drive and dedication, but now it is focused on giving to his students. Whether you are looking for adult classes or for your child, you can not find a more qualified instructor but more importantly a better person/role model than Professor Ryan Fiorenzi and Kaizen Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

This is by far, my favorite place on this earth. I stopped in here as a way to not only lose weight, but to see if it would help with my depression. I can honestly say without a doubt in my mind that coming here is the best decision I have ever made. The coaches and owners are some of the most compassionate, caring, and fun individuals I have ever had the pleasure to know in my entire life. The Jiu Jitsu training is top notch. Every single coach is there to work with you on your skills. There is a coach for every single style of Jiu Jitsu from very technical, to a pressure passer, to a defensive player. The best thing about this place though, is the family you will be brought into. I have met the best human beings I've ever met in my entire life here. The coaches aren't just coaches, but mentors. The weight loss happens without you even realizing it. I started here in May of 2018 and I am writing this as of January 2019, I went from 230lbs and really out of shape to 185lbs with just doing this and changing my diet. You really will get in the best shape of your life doing this.

If you're struggling with anything in life and you're sitting on the fence right now about coming... Don't wait another second. Come in and see this big wild goofy family that like to choke each other out.

I've been with Kaizen BJJ for over 6 years now, and throughout the years the school keeps getting better and better. The staff at Kaizen is excellent, the instructors are extremely knowledgeable, and constantly strive to expand that knowledge. The students there are all very friendly, and since Ryan (the owner) has a "leave your ego at the door" policy, very rarely do you see injuries caused by "tough guy syndrome." Kaizen BJJ just relocated to a nicer building on 5 mile and Haggerty, the new building is outstanding, there is lots of mat space, and the building as well as the mats are kept very clean. Kaizen BJJ is open to people of all ages, and skill level, and offers a variety of classes daily, in wrestling, BJJ, MMA, boxing, kick boxing, muay thai and self defense, for women, children, teenagers, and men. Whether you just want to get in shape, aspire to be a MMA fighter, want to compete in BJJ tournaments, want to learn self defense, or just want to impress your friends with a flying armbar, Kaizen BJJ is the place for you. I give Kaizen BJJ an A++
