We went on the 'Santa Express' with our daughter, husband and grandson. Definitely worth the money.
Nice Railway. Great restaurant and off course live Steam!!
Beautiful well kept steam trains and coaches. Lovely volunteers. Lovely surroundings. Great museum and a brewery too. Something for everyone
KESR is always a delightful experience. The staff, almost all volunteers, are wonderful helpful and passionate. Whether you are a train spotter or someone wanting a fun and peaceful day out this is a great day out. The Pulman Dining for at the weekends for Saturday evening or Sunday lunch are exceptional
Wonderful to be on a steam train. Takes one back to ones youth. Lovely staff. Just had a lovely piece of home made cake rhubarb and ginger. Yum yum.
Extremely well run with very helpful friendly volunteers... well worth a visit.
1940s weekend. We had a very enjoyable day out down on the Kent and East Sussex Railway last weekend as it was there 1940s weekend our son treat us to tickets for our wedding anniversary, it was the first time down to Kent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day it is well worth a visit, we're already planning another trip down.
Provided by volunteers, beautifully decorated station and trainsets
Attended the Ale Train for a colleague's retirement party. Choice of several local ales (an extra - but you got a free pint glass as part of the ticket cost) and a evening meal on the way.
excellent day out well thought out social distancing. thank uou
Vintage railway, with a brewery next to it. What's not to love.
Great little steam railway; don't miss the works at Rolvenden station.
Loved it if you love the romance of the steam train this is the place for you .
OK-but expensive-kids love it, but hard to justify cost
A great day out the company was great and the man on the train telling us the history of the area was brilliant
Great way of traveling between Bodiam Castle and Tenterden. Enjoyable old world stations with museums and we'll kept running stock.
Lovely to do with the kids, has Thomas and Father Christmas days for the little ones.
Nice half day out with the kids. Travelled from Tenterden to Bodium (for the castle) and back again later in the day.
Fabulous Family Day Out. Lovely train ride and friendly staff.
Nice day out, unique experience for the kids...they loved it.
We were given a gift card for Christmas so we bookedv a trip on the railway . We were a but disappointed as we had been told on the phone that we could use our gift card in the station restaurant, so we had planned to have lunch there. But when we arrived at the restaurant they told us we couldn't use the gift card there!
Nice station and steam trains. Friendly volunteers who are happy to explain!
Wonderful experience with the vintage rail carriages. Children would love this place.
My wife & I were given a gift of a Behind the Scenes Railway Experience which we had on Tuesday 18th July. We arrived at 9.30 and was greeted by our guide for the day Jim Williams with the essentials of tea & coffee. After our safety briefing we had the most interesting and enjoyable day, which literally took us totally behind the scenes of carriage & loco rebuilds. Our steam ride took us to the Rolvenden signal box whereby the workings of the box were explained to us in detail. It was then over the track to the loco repairs & reconstruction sheds, Jim explained the overall picture and the many volunteer engineers were happy to explain their various tasks including boiler rebuild. It was then back to Tenterden for the Museum and lunch, then a ride on the full length of the railway, which they hope to extend in the near future. Could go on more but to round off we couldn't have asked for a better guide in Jim he made the day interesting and fun. Thanks to everyone at the site you all do a great job. Thanks again Pat & Keith
Brilliant day out on well restored steam engines. Come here for a real step back in time. Prices fairly reflect the unique experience and are worth every penny.
Lovely little railway set in beautiful countryside with quaint stations and trains and very helpful and friendly volunteer staff.
It's just a fantastic place,so full of history and nostalgia
Great facilities for the disabled. Lovely Railway and friendly staff. Really enjoyed our day.
Pleasant train journey. Nice commentary on the train. Great museum at Tenterden station reduced price admission to Bodiam castle, just a short walk from the Bodiam station.
Had a one way trip on full size steam train. It's what you would expect. Slightly disappointed with the scenery. Land very flat - so nothing dramatic to see. I know that's not the railway's fault. But I would not go out of my way for another ride.
Whether you're a steam enthusiast or not. This is a fantastic place to visit for all the family
Beautiful trains. Wonderful service. Highly recommended.
Nice Railway from Tenderden to Bodiam and back. From the old Victorians time.
My children and now my grandchildren go every year, it would not be Christmas without a train ride here.
We enjoyed our time on the train. The staff were very friendly.
Beautiful setting and a step back in time. My wife and I enjoyed a 1 hour trip to Bodiam and back through the wonderful countryside. Well worth the money
This was the highlight of our holiday it was relaxing the staff were so nice it was like going back in time.
Lovely ride on the steam train & tasty ploughman's. Museum was very interesting.
Great place to visit, leave the car at Northiam and take the train to Tenterden and relive travel from a bygone age with ancient steam locomotives and old carriages. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Rother Valley. Everywhere is spick and span, the railway staff are excellent at helping you and make your day out a day to remember.
Another unforgetable experiance.Excellent food and wine...and service from staff that are there because they love their job not because they are paid to please! This is our 2nd trip and i would say the only draw back was the weather as it was a very cold evening not conducive to a stroll at Bodium!
Great day out. The only thing that let them down was the extremely rude staff member in the shop in Bodiam station.
What a wonderful place. Adults and kids will love it. Old steam trains and Wants, could not ask for more.
Steam train!!!!, take a picnic on with you, its like time travel...
Beautiful locos and small carriages, well kept stations, but the views are limited on the journey. Lots of backs of houses unfortunately, but still a pleasant experience.
Brilliant day out well worth money even travelled first class great for every age group young and old oh and a castle to explore whilst your there
The railway is excellent and we chose first class for additional fee and coach was lovely. We didn't get the "May Madness" discount applied online to our tickets and the catering at Tenterden was poor: arrived at half 12 and only had tuna/cheese sandwiches left, one panini (which took ages to arrive; longer than the two plates of scampi and chips the people behind us ordered) and the facilities were generally cramped. Bearing in mind the catering is probably one of the paid jobs at the railway it was run poorly compared to the operations department which is mostly volunteers.
Friendly staff, lovely buffet at Tenterden and one very happy teenager
Great day out, especially if you can check out Bodiam Castle too. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My godson loves trains so been here a lot
An excellent ride on the railways vintage train yesterday... Absolute Victorian comfort and well worth a visit... Personally I would travel on the vintage train every time given the chance...
50th birthday dinner on tenteden pullman. Amazing evening
Great day out, enjoyed the steam train ride, staff on board were very friendly and were full of information on the trains and line. Good value. We were very lucky with the weather.
Lovely railway to travel, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, highly recommended.
Great station hilarious journey on the train the guy serving cream teas & telling us some local information was so funny made the trip. Cream teas were good great time
Friendly Railway with beautiful scenery. and lovely views of Bodiam Castle. Great for afternoon tea & lovely vintage train & worth taking Sunday luncheon train from Northiam
THE KENT AND EAST SUSSEX RAILWAY IS A PRESERVED LINE AND IS WORTH A RIDE AND A DAY EXPORING THE COUNTRYSIDE IT RUNS THROUGH
1940's weekend Spitfire soldiers ARP wardens. Brilliant time
Wonderful day on this railway. The people who work it are absolute gems.
