Very good resort. The limestone exterior is quite nice. Conference food was high quality. Conference area was quite large - Texas Size. Outdoor firepits are a nice touch.
Waterpark is spacious. Staff were always friendly and greeted me at every turn.

I was fortunate to stay in a newly renovated room. They have crews working at the time of this writing to bring rooms and hallways back up to what one would expect from a 5 star resort.

The resort is amazing everything were did there we were not disappointed. There was a 65 inch tv in the room and I've never seen that at a hotel before. Just remember it is a fancy resort so everything costs extra. 15 dollars a day for internet, costs of everything at the convenience store was double what it would be at a gas station.

The JW truly is a world class building with some pretty unique perks and programs. It is very relaxed, low maintenance luxury. If you want white glove treatment you may look elsewhere as this is beautifully isolated.

Food was great and service was friendly. Beds were awful and uncomfortable. Nice hotel and pools. The people that were staying in the hotel were awful. Someone pooped in the pool and closed it down. There were drunk people everywhere. A fight ensued in the adult people and security was called out.

Awesome property with lots of great views. Caressa at the front desk was the model of what hospitality is. Every staff member I encountered was naturally friendly, you can tell there is a great culture here.

The amenities are fantastic and the staff is awesome (particularly Israel at the front desk and Zoila in housekeeping), but there are little touches that are oddly lacking, such as the availability of dish soap. We could also hear the drunk guests in the next room through the vents, and while they were entertaining, they were also quite noisy. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Went there for the NACE (National Association for Corrosion Engineers) Conference a couple months ago. It was a great experience being held there this year instead of it's previous location. Have stayed at the resort before and the service and cleanliness are top notch. Of course the price is high, but you get what you pay for. Will definitely go for a staycation again.

I was here in January for the Student Veterans of America National Conference, and it was fantastic, the resort is top tier and the staff is comprised of consummate professionals. It was a phenomenal stay and I would recommend this resort for a family vacation to enjoy the water slides, a weekend getaway for the pristine golf courses or just as an exception hotel and resort for any occasion you may wish to celebrate.

I travel a lot for business and have several conferences a year during which I stay in swank hotels across the country. I have to say, my reaction to the JW Marriott San Antonio was..... meh. I recently attended a conference there and didn't think the hotel was at a par with other resorts at the same price point. My main complaint is about the rooms. I was in an executive suite and it was disappointing. While the room was certainly spacious the furniture was at way too small a scale. You have a huge room with a tiny and terribly uncomfortable couch, and a very small desk. Some of the furniture had obvious wear and tear. The bedroom was nicer however there was a thick plastic covering on the mattress so whenever you turned over or moved around it was very loud. My husband was with me for this trip and it drove us both nuts. Our second morning there we saw what the culprit was. It's the heavy kind of plastic you put on children's beds when they're toilet training. Not something you want when you're paying 500 bucks a night for a hotel room. Marriott owns Ritz Carlton, this hotel needs to absorb some of the elements from the Ritz into their guestrooms. Dear JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country - do better.

The JW Marriott is a lovely hotel for a staycation (we are local) or for conventions. I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a destination hotel in San Antonio unless you are content to golf and swim in their fabulous pool - it's not really convenient to anything other than suburbia strip malls. Service at the pool was sloooow - they might be understaffed, since the pool was pretty packed, but they missed out on at least a couple rounds of drinks. The servers were wonderful and hard working - just didn't appear to be enough of them!

Very nice hotel/resort, the grounds were outstanding with a pool that's wonderful for families and an adult only section. If you're looking for something to do with the kids this is the hotel. Our room was clean and spacious.

Great place with very spacious landscape. Great pool, lunch and dinner restaurant. Sports bar and large lobby area with beautiful waterfall scenery. Great for golfers and plenty of conference rooms.

My first visit to Texas for a Wells Fargo Event. Stayed at the JW Marriott Resort and Spa in San Antonio Texas, which was absolutely amazing and beautiful. Loved everything about the resort..the staff, the restaurants, the spa, the pool, the golf course, the peace, etc. Met so many wonderful people. I am so looking forward to return to the resort and San Antonio in general.

Upon arriving at Check In time of 4:00, we were told our 4 rooms not ready. After driving over 3 hrs, our group of 14, including 8 kids, were hot & tired. Staff at desk didn't seem concerned and offered no suggestions to help us be comfortable while waiting almost 4 HOURS! Didn't even offer us one free beverage or meal, or maybe a discounted rate, since we didn't get into the rooms until almost bed time. We didn't get our rooms until 8:00 pm. A total waste of the day, along with the fact that we were very uncomfortable while waiting. Our vacation was almost ruined by this awful first day experience! I noticed that all "not-so-positive" reviews on TripAdvisor were answered with "We hope you will give us another chance..." That's all! No offers of how they could make it better next time, or even a phone number or an email address to contact them. Pretty unprofessional behavior for a large well known chain like this.

I stayed there for 4 days. Housekeeping came through the first day and then never again. No housekeeping for the rest of the stay. I called the front desk twice to get service. Plenty of empty apologies but no action. Terrible service and a lack of problem solving amongst the staff. I would not recommend.

Excellent facilities. ESPN-style bar with 40 ft screen wrapped around bar. New water park with plenty of water fuses for the kids and family to enjoy. Two TPC rated 18 hole gold courses.

The pool is great for kids and families. Small kids up to 14 or 15 should love this. There is one adult pool which is small but works fine. The grounds are beautiful. Service has been very good. The resturants are not cheap but no surprise there. Only two complaints we got a double rm due to us having two girls. The beds are not queens and not even fulls...they are doubles! A tab bit bigger than a twin. We had to get a roll away bed brought to the rm to stick in the corner. I've never had to do that. For the price we pay u think a full or queen would be standard....super strange. Also no microwave in the room because they want you eating everything in their resturants lol other than that good for families n quality service.

Had a wonderful stay. Accommodations were great, amenities were amazing. Pricing in spa and restaurants was a bit high as expected, but great quality. Room service food quality was so so, definitely bring snacks for night time. Huge place, and some hills bring flats and sandals. Water park is great, great staff and clean lovely rooms. Will return, happy customer.

I stayed at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country from Thursday, January 11th, to Saturday, January 20th. During that time, I witnessed a travelling companion have food allergies ignored time and time again. I didn't realize chicken was a vegetable, or mozzarella cheese wasn't dairy. My coworker has a dairy and pork allergy. When a salad that had Bleu cheese listed as an ingredient, and then was listed as "Dairy Free," it made our whole team apprehensive. After the first few days of botched allergen statements and no substitute being brought out, my coworker decided to simply start ordering Vegan. It takes it to an extreme, but it eliminates everything that is an allergen. We were brought a bag that sad "Vegetarian" on it. So right off the bat we are being given the wrong item. Upon inspection of the 'vegetarian' option, we found a lovely Chicken sandwich. I don't know if they thought the chicken itself was a vegetarian, but last I checked the food pyramid, chicken and broccoli weren't in the same square. Another co-worker decided to roll for broke and ordered a second vegan option, thinking "surely, you can't screw something up that bad twice." Well, the JW Marriott kitchen did not let us down. A second chicken sandwich was delivered. Honestly, I found it hilarious. I couldn't believe that the largest JW resort in the USA couldn't figure out food allergens. I worked in a small bbq shop in the middle of nowhere midwest America and we still took more pride in our food than this kitchen did.

The rooms were great, the general service was great, but seriously, if you have any sort of food allergy, UberEats delivers to this location. Just play it safe.

Currently here, and not pleased. Bathtub very dirty, chipped rubber beside shower door that nicked my feet multiple times during shower. Ordered a slice of cake, with ice cream and chocolate milk. They said it would take an hour. Seriously? It's not a meal, and it's not even that much dessert, but okay I guess I could wait, so I did. An hour and 20 minutes went by and I finally just called it in and said, just cancel it, it's been well over an hour and it was only cake and ice cream. He didn't even try to make it right either. I guess other people get great service while I'm not allowed to even have a small order of dessert brought up to me.

Really enjoyed the amenities, service and food. The waterpark area was perfect this time of year (October) and not overcrowded.

The only reason for the sub 5 rating is that the room walls are paper thin and people were in the hallways yelling tgrough a large portion of the night. They finally quieted about 2am.

Will definitely be back. Their spa and spa pool area were definitely a highlight

And again? Another hotel wanting to charge for extra power. This is upsetting. I recently wrote a review for the Hyatt Regency off of 151 about this and when I saw the review the previous guy wrote for this one... It's too upsetting! I'm willing to pay for the ballroom, but not for the extra energy for my DJ. No. Soon, my DJ is going to end up raising his prices to cover this! Good thing I'm reading these reviews... This is something that should be reconsidered - the extra charge for electricity.
