We camped here for three days. Friendly and laid back vibe. The showers and toilets were well maintained and for a fee you can get access to their pool and hot tub. The campgrounds were spacious enough that we could have our privacy. 5 minute drive away from the park entrance

This was an interesting visit where you can see Lloyd Wright, Jr.'s (Frank Lloyd Wright's son) architectural designs. The Desert is a great backdrop for Reflection by an individual. Fall and Spring probably have more temperate weather.
Fascinating place, great food, very accommodating. Attended Pure bioenergy healing level 1 training and it was a wonderful experience and a wonderful place to have it. Unique and beautiful desert with warm days cool nights. It was all good.
Really lovely retreat center. I've been to a few festivals and conferences here. There are some beautiful art sculptures, little fountains, etc around, as well as a pool and indoor accommodations. Tent camping is available during festivals; in not sure about other times, but some of it is shaded, which is nice I. Hotter months.
Great retreat center. Beautiful sanctuary. Food us delicious and healthy. Staff is friendly. Grounds are well maintained. Great gift shop. Really enjoyed my stay at the retreat I was attending.
This unassuming and rundown cluster of buildings sitting off the highway are in fact all designed by Frank Lloyd Wright Jr. For any of his fans, this is a fun compound to explore up close and personal. Goes to show, what random things you can find in the desert.
Beautiful place in the high desert. Great gift shop. The sanctuary is sacred. Great place to camp. Have also stayed in the cabins, nice to have a/c in the summer heat. Have been coming here 2 - 3 times a year for past 9 years for yoga festivals, always love coming back. Office staff always helpful and friendly. I had medicine that needed to be refrigerated while camping and they let me use theirs.
I rarely write reviews but I feel it necessary that someone in the future might read this and heed it's advice. This place was once an incredible place when the original designer was on earth. The land does have a good "natural" vibe, meaning, the land itself feels good. My best time at the Retreat was in 2016 for a Contact In The Desert conference. But when you add humans to the picture, the ranch is very dysfunctional. Recently, an "employee" of the ranch, a " 'healer' and massage person " hired me to create a mural for her massage studio located on the east part of the property. I didnt know her all too well but I made a massive mistake. Before creating her mural I did not ask for a contract or a deposit (can you guess where this is going?) and it cost me because I had nothing stipulated in a contract. I created a stunning mandala for her I was paid 1/5th of what I quoted her for in making the art. When I asked the director of the center for help with getting a payment she said she knew nothing about agreeing to a mural, etc., and she wasn't interested in helping. (And yet she witnessed me make the mural and didn't ask the woman who hired me or myself who was paying for the mural, etc., how convenient?) *warning to any Joshua Tree local artists* DO NOT get lured in by this center to create art work. I was lured in with promises after promises (hey we need more murals! jazz the place up!) and I was promptly gas light you when I finished the commission. OR if you're brave enough to handle the personalities at this place, GET A CONTRACT OR DEPOSIT UPFRONT. I won't go into the details of my experience with the person who asked me to make the mural initially, as its irrelevant, but I will say this... do not give her an opportunity to manipulate you. The positive side to all this? It has been an educational experience in as much as realizing nothing is ever as it seems with many people that you meet. I'm a bit naive that way. But I'm still learning!
This is such a special place. It was founded the same year of a book I have written by Charles h. Hannel in 1928. The book is about how humans are effected my everything else there is. The book is called "A Book About You". He published the books himself. In a very unique way... Most copies reprinted the name of the person he intended to give it to wriirectly on the cover. SO, The book would say "A Book About Dawn" (PERSONS NAME) mine is a signed copy which apparently came from the center in Lily Dale New York. It is a spiritualist town on the East Coast, USA. The crazy thing is hat this book brought me to this place which was founded the same year the book was published. This place and the people who founded it knew, Charles Hannel. He is one of the original authors quoted over n over by the author of the book " The Secret". The thing is, I have been coming here for several years now, to events n conferences n each time I do, I am changed emotionally n spiritually every time in huge ways. For example, things fly out there, and maneuver in ways that are very very different. There is a lot of peace to be found on these grounds and there is a major port to heal human heart somewhere there .. I feel it so severely everytime I return to sit n be still here. I am renewed somehow, without words, few thaughts... just by being there. I wonder what it is about the space. It is so worth a visit, imo. Love n lights for you are waiting for you too, to come visit n see for yourself. =-)
