Egregiously bad service. This is the first eatery review I've ever written.
Ordered a pizza for pick-up and the first thing was that they ended the call abruptly as I was trying to confirm whether they would use the phone number they asked for to call me when the pizza was ready.
40 minutes later they haven't called so I call them and they tell me the pizza is waiting. I walk over to the place and they tell me it has been sitting out 20 minutes. I let them know that I'm tired, having been driving 6 hours, and that I don't want to wait for them to prepare another pizza. I ask if instead they could give it to me half-off and the person working the cashier says that's ok.
At this moment a supervisor (owner?) walks by and asks what's happening. The cashier explains the situation and then this other guy overrides the cashier claiming that they told me on the phone it would be ready in 20-25 minutes (why do they ask for phone numbers if they don't call you when it's ready?).
At this point I just wanted my lukewarm, mediocre pizza and thought I'd make a last ditch effort to get the half-price by saying I would file a complaint for bait-and-switch if they didn't give me the price quoted by the cashier (I have no idea what the actual legality would be) and after that the manager/owner said who would not even sell it to me at full price and asked me to leave.
I ate there once before and I found the pizza itself to be ok by my standards, but it seems that it gets overcrowded for the staff that they have who then exhibit some difficulties holding it together.
Love this place, great for the family. Great pizza, ice cream and video games...plus good beer selection
Very nice bar staff, great pizza late night across street from hotels.,.
The pizza was good, the antipasto salad was ok as were the wings. This place is otherwise self service and not at all worth the cost. There are better other local places for pizza.
Im not big on wings usually but this place has some of the best wings I have ever had, super crispy but not breaded and the hot is just right!
Great pizzeria in the Mammoth. We ate to we were stuffed:) So much good stuff to choose from: calzones, wings, salads, pepperoni rolls and of course pizza. My three teen kiddos couldn't finish it all! I highly recommend if you want a great bite to eat.
Super recommended! The pizza and wings of this place are from another world!
The pizza here at John s is just so-so and expensive in my opinion. My party and I had a total of 3 pizzas, an order of wings, and a bready appetizer. Nothing was particularly disappointing, but nothing really stood out either.
Very good calzone. Really quaint restaurant with associated bar. Recommended.
A bit crazy sometimes but we love that. Food is great and service is friendly.
Price, not giving us everything we ordered, poor customer service
Great food at a great price. We went here in a group of 10 and it was the perfect choice. We all had a big night on the drink the night before and this was perfect meal for everyone. We got the meat lovers pizza and pepperoni rolls for $35. Staff for awesome as well
Good quality pizza with fair pricing for resort town. We will be back.
The best place for wings I have even been to the also have a min arcade, a pool table, and more
Good pizza. A little pricey, but a better quality taste.
Good food. Family friendly. Expect Mammoth restaurant prices. Many flat screens in the seating area.
I spent the first 32 years of my life in Buffalo NY, I've traveled all over North America and this place has the best wings I've had outside of Buffalo.
We always go here for pizza when we visit Mammoth. Great place
Was staying in June lake and came here on a Friday night, hiked all day Saturday and came back AGAIN on Saturday night. Solid beer list, excellent pizza, even better calzones and, from the smells, seems like great wings.
A few good choices but wasn t a fan of the dough at all. It might be but doesn t seem like it s made fresh in the shop. We ordered the bbq chicken and the house supreme. Closer to 2.5 stars. It s connected to the bar so you can either do self serve or table service. Friendly service
I have been camping up here in glasscreek campground for 5 weeks an my family an i have gone to John's pizza 4 times an they have best giant pizza very good an large tables also for fat people thanks guys see u all next year
Food was great. The pepperoni rolls were so good and hot...ordering at the counter and going back up to get food wasn't great, but covid jacks it all up. Other than that, it was a great place and meal
Been a patron here for years best service in Mammoth, and the best pizza in town!
Great food, great service, lively atmosphere with pool and shuffle board!
Pesto pizza was exactly what I needed after several days of hiking. This is always a stop on the way home from Yosemite. We will be back for sure. :)
Am I eating the same pizza from this highly rated joint? This pizza is unnaturally chewy, chewy cheese and crust, bland sauce? Just had Nik n willies slice 20 minutes before and that was wayy better proper pizza. Thin flavorful slice with a crunch and delicious cheese and sauce.
Over priced, mediocre quality.... good that they stay open late...
Ok pizza, casual vibe: Walk up counter, no table service. Not unfriendly but certainly not friendly: Just winding down the clock. I have no beef with any of that. It was kinda what I was looking for after a day of hard skiing: A fast, filling pizza and a cold beer before bed. The problem for me was that it is WAY over priced for what it is. It s mammoth and I expect the tourist tax but this was just stupid! My son got a 16 pizza and a soda. I got a personal pizza, a small salad and a draft beer. Price: $72.80 before tip. First and last visit for sure. You can find much better meals for same or less price in mammoth, spend your money elsewhere
Surprise surprise, there's a well kept pool table. $1 a game. Food was good; we had pizza and chicken fingers. Cozy atmosphere but lively at the same time
Surprisingly this is open pretty late. We had tried a couple of places before finding a place open past 9pm. This was very happening, very full, great food, very fast, great wine and wine recommendation. Impressed.
We went to the restaurant, stood there for 10 minutes waiting to be served and helped.... we had never been there before didn't know what to expect. Everyone else seemed to be having a great time... we wouldn't know, one of their servers even looked right at us halfway through our time waiting. But still no, "hey welcome" "how you guys doing tonight" "have you guys been here before" nothing. After wasting out time we simply left and went to Z Pizza and had some great food there. Won't return.
Excellent pizza and antipasta salad. Portions large enough for more than the 2 of us but we chowed it all down with my glass of lemonade and his glass of red wine...Mmmmmm! Will come back again next time we swing through Mammoth! Love the laid back atmosphere, it gave us enough time to decide on what we wanted before we ordered at the counter
I am really upset that I am having to write this review as I used to live in Mammoth and Johns was my favorite place to eat. However, on my last trip up there we had the absolute worst service. Our waitress forgot to put our food in and we sat around for an hour waiting for a pizza. Instead of telling us she forgot she was rude to us and said "well do you want your pizza or not you still have to pay for it"...Needless to say the manager had to get involved and gave us a round of free drinks. We all left upset with how we were treated but it got even WORSE! One of our friends had forgotten to close out their tab... there were like 15 of us so it was an honest mistake and for all we know the server forgot to even give our friend their tab, but the server proceeded to facebook stalk me and threaten to axe my friend from every bar in mammoth unless the tab was paid. So what I want to know is... 1. Does Johns condone their servers facebook stalking and harassing loyal customers? 2. Why does this chick still have a job? 3. You included my friends name in the facebook message so do a little more stalking next time and write them directly.
Good people, good food, good vibes.
The servers and bartenders over in the saloon are great, they make a nice pizza, and it's one of only a couple restaurants open late if you're just driven into town. Worth a stop!
Possibly the best located place in town. I go there regularly for the wings. I send people there to be served after 9 pm when Rafter's kitchen closes.
This place is a really good place to eat. The only problem that I had was the lack of more than one cashier, which made the line extremely long.
Pizza was great. Just took almost an hour to get the medium pizza and wings
Ordered the gluten free pizza, was some of the best pizza I've ever had AND I didn't get sick (I have coeliac disease) awesome service!!
If you ever go out to mammoth mountain this is an awsome spot, mist go out here and try out there pizza and wings very delicious and also family friendly.
Pizza has been questionable lately, wings are great and plenty of room to relax. Very friendly staff.
The pizza was yummy, the prices were a little steep.
John's Pizza Works is a great late night pizza joint. They stay open longer than most places in town and its a great place for late night munchies.
Tasty Pizza with good selection of beers. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. Would visit again on my next trip to Mammoth.
It's one of the must visit places it you are mammoth mountains. Parking is slightly a hastle since it's usually full in the peak hours. They also offer togo in case you don't want to dine in at the restaurant.
Good pizza and Italian food but pricey. Try the garlic cheese bread.
Great place for having Pizza. You've to order first and wait awhile. Size of 20" costs about 20,- $ plus Tax etc.
Good place for families and groups. Good pizza. Casual surroundings. Friendly staff.
Will probably be a Mammoth must on all my future visits. Everything we ordered was super yummy
Super store! Service friendly, fast service, drinks and food selection very good. Prices are all more than reasonable, all kinds of sports are on the TV, enough parking spaces are available.
2 stars because food was good. However, employees are rude. I guess they aren't hoping for repeat customers
I love their wings and pizza! Pesto pizza is the best!
Counter service or table service is available here, just go to the right if you want full table service. Pizzas are generously topped here and salads are equally large.
Half off wings on Wednesday!! So worth it, best wings in town
Good pizza. A bit pricy though, our large 16 Pizza Picante ended up being over $31.
Very good pizza and atmosphere. Waited a little long for tab,. Will go back!!
The service was very friendly and the food was really great. The cocktails are also highly recommended.
Popular pizza and bar joint good when's theres some games on TV. Great pizza and arcade for kids.
Good pizza ...typical commercial ski town that has lost some of its appeal
The pizza tastes similar to Costco the spaghetti had no flavor tasted like they used the tomatoe sauce from the pizza a little pricey just too bad there are not too many food options in the area
Pizza & wings were so good. The service was 1 Star.
