Amazing fresh selection and the most friendly staff I can recount having in years. Must try if you're in the area.

Everything was fresh and delicious and the service was great!

So happy to have discovered this place in my neighborhood. Food is fresh (freshest fish I have had since moving to the US), well made and just straight up delicious. Staff was great, pricing was good and so was the beer from the Tank that they had on tap! I will definitely be back.

Closed... under renovations even though online said it was open.about 2 weeks ago

Just tried for the first time and yummy! The fish dip was perfectly smoky and flavorful. Grouper sandwich we got fried and was light and crispy. AnD the crab cakes were equally as delicious!

The yellow tail snapper with stuffed cabbage and curry sauce over a bed of White rice...
OMGGGG... It made no sense delicious the food was... and I m usually a hard critic when it comes to food...
If you love seafood, this is the place for you...

We love Captain Jims!! It s like going to our kitchen for fresh fish. The new management/ownership is awesome. The food is fresh and the we have know the staff for over 10 years! The ladies are sweet and fast. The new bar looks so inviting for happy hour. So glad they have reopened!

It's a good little quiet seafood restaurant. Located on West Dixie Highway in the city of North Miami. It's not that easy to find, in your vehicle. Just give me a call, they will give you the location. It's worth going to. When you walk in, they have to display refrigerators full of fresh seafood. You can choose what you buy pay for it and take you home. Or you can choose where you want to eat, they will cook it for you however you want. And you can sit down in their dining area. And you can enjoy it there. It's kind of convenient. But yes me. Very romantic. Very casual. All in all it's a great place. I give it 4 stars. My reason being. Is not a major one. I'll tell you what it is. Just not a lot of parking.

Awesome flavor, fresh seafood and a variety of items. I celebrated my birthday there on 10/4/19 and Magno and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that my friends and I were pleased from start to finish. You can not find a better spot than Captain Jim's that is clean with a great atmosphere, extraordinary customer service along with tasty and quality seafood for a reasonable price. I will be back and all of my friends will be to now that they have been introduced to such a phenomenal place.

Well the food here is very A 1 grade fresh catch the day morning fresh. Not sitting around like in the markets stores or like other restaurants The male servers are very professional worm greetings and friends hospitality in service. I love it when they don t ask you, how s the food? when your chewing. Awesome. You want a sugar rush the bread pudding will most definitely do it. I was not greeted when I walk in on my last take out order by a young female waitress. Most importantly the quality of the freshness of the food is what matters. The service matches the minute and the atmosphere. No transit germs very clean.

Recently reopened after extensive remodeling. Bright and clean, it is a great place for seafood offering a variety of options. Stroll past the fresh fish market to see recent catches and pick up from salads to a complete fish for cooking at home. Great service, great staff, and clean, clean, clean establishment. Entrance from the back could use updating and the road, resurfacing. Ask about the specials!

One of my favorite seafood restaurants in Greater Miami. The fish and seafood is always fresh and well prepared. The staff is excellent.

OMG!!! I walked into the place and felt welcomed right away. The food is awesome and the hospitality is great. Check it out.

Wayy too expensive. $70 for 2 plates. 3 little salty shrimp tacos and a plate with a small fish, 3 pieces of shrimp and a cup of rice with no flavor. Only giving 2 stars for the cup of clam chowder that was descent. Not to mention they took forever to bring the order and the check. Not coming back ever again. Thieves.

So happy we found this wonderful restaurant! Looks a little dubious from the street but once inside, the atmosphere is lively (Bob Marley music), clean and fun. Seafood was super fresh and delicious and staff was very attentive (especially Jody, our outstanding waitress!) Great prices too. Highly recommend ... we will e back!!

Food was delicious! We loved everything that we had. The conch soup was AMAZING!

It's a quaint little place with a lovely owner who came out to check that everything was good. The prices were high but the food was very good and worth it.

WE just had a family dinner -we order 16 lbs of the Extra Large Stone Crabs..The Stone were as good as you could get, the staff was outstanding..everone did the best to see that the order was 100% I can't recommand Capt Jim as the finest Stone Crab Restaurant and take out in South FL//Larry Cohen you out did your sael..

Excellent food had grouper and crab salad excellent so fresh! Great waiter too!

Stopped by to pick up some oysters to take out, ended up getting a crab salad and shrimp salad as well. Everything was delicious and most importantly really fresh, will definitely be going back!

The food and service were excellent. I highly recommend the yellowtail snapper. The bread pudding was also fabulous. The restaurant is clean and the food is good.

Just had the conch salad and stuffed corvina. Wow.

My wife had the salmon over spinach and she loved it.

We live nearby and are super happy to have this place in our neighborhood.

I get the fried jumbo shrimp and grilled scallops from the market for them to cook...Divine scrumptiousness! I like the fried shrimp because they did not coat it with alot of flour or cornmeal. I am a seafood snob spoiled by Joes Stone Crab! This is a good alternative while they are closed during off season. A little pricey but good quality seafood.

I went for the fried clams but they didn't have them. Instead I ordered fried conch which was very good I also ordered a small salad only to be given a small plate with shredded lettuce, finely chopped cucumbers and tomatoes, almost like what would go into a taco. Small salad was $4.99, fried conch(appetizer) was $14.99 and a slice of coconut cream pie was $6.00. My friend had blackened grouper $23 with a side of sweet potato fries and diet soda. Food was good but a bit pricey considering are and lack of ambience.

I am guessing that the ownership has changed I used to love this place Not now Higher prices, less fresh seafood and can't even have extra crackers WOW...

The service is always supreme. The food is simply delish. The freshest seafood I have ever had. I'm now a big fan of their blackened seafood dishes. I've never been disappointed here.

Nothing like it use to be. This used to be a nice neighborhood restaurant with reasonable prices. Now it has turned into Something else. The prices have skyrocketed... The quality of the food has diminished. I should have known when I walked in at 7:30 p.m. on a Friday night and was able to get A table immediately. Another one bites the dust...

Best place to eat in North Miami. GREAT and FRIENDLY service and staff. Food is always fresh, especially considering they catch the fish themselves.

Great seafood. The restaurant became unexpectedly busy for a Tuesday night. Consequently the wait service was completely overwhelmed and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable and delicious experience.

Excellent service. Great conversation. This is my second visit here and I am so happy it s right in my back yard. The food was ahhh-mazing! Can t wait to come again and experience the flavor party in my mouth.

Very different portions and quality. Different management and does not care to hear constructive criticisms . I have visited this establishment many times however I won t go again.

My boyfriend told me about this place. It is Valentine's Day and he bought me New England Clam Chowder from here to my work. It is the best New England Clam Chowder I've ever had and honestly in the top 5 best things I've ever eaten in my life. I stopped by after work to see if they sold haddock or steel head trout and I was sad that they did not but I was not surprised as Publix doesn't sell those either and Whole Foods only has huge $20 packages of haddock. It seems like a hard thing to find in Miami but thought I'd try here since I've heard good things about this place. When I walked in the place was clean, staff was all very friendly, people sitting and eating were smiling and as I left I saw a staff member run outside and give the mail lady a rose (it is Valentine's Day after all) How sweet. I will have to come here with my boyfriend of a sit down meal sometime. The photos on Facebook of the food are mouth watering. Recommended.

Don t let the outside of the building/surrounding area turn you away! This place is fantastic! Delicious fresh seafood, great service and a welcoming environment. We will definitely be back!

Food was amazing. Crabs were great, just an awesome service. Amazing crew, amazing waitress. Everything was great.

So my wife and I were in Miami for the weekend and went to Captain Jim's for lunch. We entered and requested to sit 2 tables away from everybody else so we could have a private conversation when the main waitress screamed at both of us in front of about 15 customers - "you can't sit over there, everybody has to sit right here because I'm the only waitress". Mind you, this is the same lady who was smoking a cigarette and yelling on the phone out front when we pulled up. After she embarrassed us and yelled at us we sat at a wobbly table and tried to decide if we should leave or stay after she talked to us in this manner. We were about to spend $50-$75 on a good seafood lunch and this was our first time at this establishment. After discussing things with my wife, we decided to go somewhere where they valued us as customers. This place does not care about you as a customer or a person. We walked out and drove to Crab Brothers about 5 miles away and we got the best service, the best seafood and no attitude. As a customer who is about to spend money in a restaurant you have to ask yourself, is the person with the bad attitude cooking or bringing my food? No thanks! We don't want any part of that. Screw this restaurant and the lady with the bad attitude! To the little guy who tried to fix our wobbly table, it's not your fault bro, it's that mean old lady with the bad attitude. Y'all check out Crab Brothers for some real Seafood with and Island twist!

So we went there for dinner for the first time. The owner seemed nice but the waiters could have used some Attitude/English schooling.
Ordered shrimp scambi linguini with a free side.so I chose a caesar Salad. when the bill came I was charged $ 9.00 for the Salad. So I asked the waiter why is there a charge for the Salad. With his broken english he replied' " the side was the Linguini" ???
mind you the the dish had seven shrimps on top of the Linguine and costed $ 18.00 yet when I told hime" for my free Side I'll have the Ceasar Salad" he didn't bother saying "oh you don't get a free side unless you want The dish that is called Linguini shrimp scampi to come to you without linguini". Just laughable.
Do yourself a favor.. Go to Red Lobster.

dependable great seafood. the best bang for the buck in Miami.

I went in and the server was staring at my friend, because she was bold mind you she has cancer.. said something to the other server and started laughing... I wanted to slap her but didn't because I had my daughter with me..so we continued to sit down and ordered food.. which was great!!! "Hands down to the chefs!!! But the server ( I forgotten her name) she thought I was going to run out on my bill because I went outside to smoke a dam cigarette!!! That's understandable but I had my daughter with me and not only that my best friend with cancer, but I mean come on ... Not nice!!! I will never be coming back bad experience poor customer service!!! The management should fire her!!! I would of loved to fill in all the star's but 1 star for the food..don't go there people! What a shame to the server .

Still a little pricey, service was okay The in side is a little nicer now that they renovated.

One of my old time favorites lots of delectable seafood dishes that are in expensive the conch is tender the crab salad is sweet and savory and the hush puppies are out of this world if your visiting North Miami stop by and enjoy some Captain Jim's great dishes....
