The environment was very pleasant; the restaurant was quiet enough so that we could visit; there was nice music playing in the background; and everyone was wearing masks and practicing social distancing. And of course the food was absolutely amazing! Loved the popovers served between our appetizers and main course.

Reservation system is terrible. I'm trying to go out to this restaurant to spend money and they make it difficult. I tried booking a table for two, over a day in advance (for a random Monday night) and they were unable to accommodate me. I called and left a message, they never called back.

My tenderloin was dry the last time I went. The server asked if I wanted any sauces and did not even explain all the various sauces that they had, like I automatically knew all of the sauces, which I didn't.

The sides were OK.

The food was good enough to go back, but wasn't good enough for me to write a review before encountering this little issue while trying to plan a celebratory night out.

Jeffery s is hands down our favorite steak house in Austin. From the pop overs, to the fried oysters to the filet mignon- everything was absolutely fantastic. The waitstaff was attentive and gave great insightful into the wine menu.

Arrived here at 5:15PM on Sunday night (December 6th, 2020). The exteriors were very unique, nothing super ostentatious, but retro & classy...

There is an outdoor area, which is right on the street. This could have worked during fall or summer especially during corona pandemic. However due to the chilly weather, decided to sit inside. Immediately greeted by a super friendly host.

Serves were excellent and friendly. I was alone and just wanted to enjoy the food quietly - and they let me do that. I had some rose Champagne, special steak for the night, steak fries, lobster soup, deviled eggs. All of them were excellent and delicious. I have been to many steakhouses and this might be the best steakhouse in Austin considering the ambiance and atmosphere. The only other place I could think of is Ruth s or Perry s.

Certain foods had very slight and almost unnoticeable pungent kick to it, but it wasn t necessarily disturbing on the palette. The tastes were actually interesting. I liked how the steak fries were stacked on top of each other. That was unique, innovative and seemed like thoughts were put it in.

It was a confusing and surprising experience. The location doesn't speak fine dining at all, but the atmosphere is high class. Seating outside looks nice but it's off a busy street with housing across, so I wouldn't want to sit there. A lot of additional treats like pop-corn and bread which tasted like something in between souffle, crepe, and croissant; very tasty. Appetizers intriguing and their presentation impeccable. Beef tartar bites were served with radish and the smoky interpretation of the foie gras served warm was worth trying. All of it was very high class; and then we got our steaks (ribeye and NY strip) and I suddenly felt like I'm in a backyard steakhouse; how confusing and inconsistent! Flavor-wise the steaks were actually disappointing: cooked a bit under medium, and not enough salt on mine! Even the way they were served is so different from the appetizers; they look boring and almost unappetizing on that old-school plate. Outdated steak menu, although I suspect the waguy-style dishes were better. However, in a place like that, where service was close to perfection and the waiter advised us on an excellent red Italian wine, I'd expect them to give a consistent fine dining experience on all of the items on the menu. Does that mean their chef doesn't understand that we expect something more than a steak I can make better at home?! Chocolate souffle was cooked to perfection though, very good espresso (not from the machine which is rare and a nice surprise; that's how I make it at home too), and they make their own chocolate truffles. Decor and the place itself was cozy, but feels outdated. Overall, inconsistent, and the steak that should have been the highlight of the evening was subpar, but I'd like to return and try other items on the menu.
