large and very nice library and it is very easy to find a space near an electric outlet for your laptop/phone
The male librarian with the glasses and short hair was the rudest person I ve ever come into contact with on campus!
Nice place, and the staff and officers are very kind and helpful.
That said, the newbies show up from high school and forget they arent in high school anymore, and dont use their inside voice inside. ...
True most of the area is not a quiet study area, but theres still a social understanding of where you are! People are using computers for work, study, and writing and there arent any computers in the quiet areas, and since it is inside and a common area the idea, just like in an elevator, that you aren't talking continuously for HOURS using outside voices!
Go outside if you're trying to catch up and tell your story about the new noodle place that opened up, and you didnt know how to use the chopsticks properly, and made a mess ... no one cares that your puppy had diarrhea after eating the cat food laced with catnip, and couldnt hold it until you woke up the next day to let her out to go to the bathroom ... and finding a new boyfriend who TOTALLY MATCHES YOU is really cool, but the rest of the room doesnt really care about how sweet he kisses your neck while expressing he need to share everything with you! Save it for yourself. Cherish it. Let it grow, but dont involve the rest of us, We're trying to study!!
And, last thing, theres a such thing as asking politely with a look, or a sound, or a grimace but both of you are either tone deaf, ignorant, jerks or some combination of the three.
This is an excellent place to study. Comfortable chairs, plenty of outlets, tables, computers, printers, etc... and they have quiet study spaces (entire 4th floor and large room towards back of the basement floor) if you need to focus or cram before an exam. Love it here! n_n
I feel like I am inside Google!
Would have been more fun if they had a gym attached and nap rooms for students for greater performance .
The library was my favorite place when I was a student at SFSU. I would spend hours each day here! There were lots of spaces to stay and even a computer lab and cafe! I really miss coming here despite the fact that it was literally hunger games during finals time!
Everyone is allowed to be inside of the library, study or even sleep on the sofa. The staff there are so great and considerate. Best place to study in SF.
Cool study spot, it even has a Peet's Coffee inside.
I love this library, however it closes too early. It's hard to study when it closes around 10pm on the weekdays as well as just after 5-6pm on the weekends. Luckily i've found other places on campus to study, however wouldn't mind paying a lil more in fees to employ staff later and keep more floors open.
Graduated 2014 and I miss this campus especially the library, very nice and open. I should visit it soon aah
An awesome new library. There is public computers that can be used by anyone. All you need is your California ID to get a username and password.
Best library I've ever been to, and I've been to plenty. Lot's of comfortable places to sit. WiFi speed could use a little improvement. First floor men's restroom gets messy and gross after the homeless/vagrants and plain disgusting people gets through it. Glad the renovations were through when I attended.
Great place to study. They have a 4th floor that is only for quiet study, in addition to a Peet s Coffee to help fuel those long nights of study. Lots of natural lighting, plenty of places to sit, and clean faculties are a big plus.
Awesome place to study, especially for students it is basically difficult to fault. But as a non student who relies on the 'guest' wifi, during busy times it is extremely unreliable, or outright won't work. I don't need a fast connection to study, but I need it to stay connected...shame but I can't fault them prioritizing their students who PAY for services such as use of this library and the priority, reliable wifi. Still 5 stars, but as an outsider, just know they prioritize their tuition paying students. Especially lookout for the unreliable guest wifi.
When it first opened it still had problems like a huge draft in winter, loud and overcrowded first floor, but it was okay!
But now it's not a library anymore, it's like a dorm, there are people sleeping everywhere even between bookshelves on the FLOOR! I need to get a book, I'd rather not step on them but they just won't MOVE! People are having pizzas delivered (no not a friend bringing it, an actual pizza delivery guy in uniform). It'd be nice to keep greasy food out of places that don't have good ventilation, but nope people really use the library just like their dorm/home except they don't clean up their mess.
