definitely worth a family membership during the summer months they are open if you like to swim and/or play with water in a clean, not too crowded outdoor pool. lots of life guards. the dive boards are fun too.

What do you expect? It's a big hole in the ground full of water. There's chlorine in it so it doesn't turn into an algae party. Hang out with your bros, turn off the cell phone, and just relax in the sunshine in the company of the congenial students of Indiana University. Does life get better than that? Bloody hell, I doubt it!

I really used to like the IU Outdoor Pool until bad management practices and poor decision making that forced the pool to open late and close early this year and that too with reduced hours on weekdays compared to the previous years. In one instance they closed the pool due to poor thunderstorms warning system.

The membership fee was still around the same. I hope the management is replaced by a more competent one next year who is willing to restore its past glory. Today was the last day that usually and traditionally has been end of October. I consider IUOP as one of the icons that Bloomington has to offer. I hope to see some positive changes next year.
