We were there in the off season and it was very limited. One if the two cab drivers was off island, and the other was booked. You really need your own vehicle there or you won't get to see much other than the dock.

I love this island except for the ferry schedule. We ve been waiting for 2 hours for the ferry delay due to a mechanical issue. I then heard from my friend that the delay happens very often. But in general, this is a beautiful island. Will definitely consider to visit again. However, have to mention that the food is fairly expensive comparing to other tourism places.

The ferry ride of course is always fun. We went to Friday Harbor because we walked onto the ferry and it's the island that you can walk around. Everyone there kind, helpful and friendly. We were there all day so we visited a couple different restaurants. The food was excellent the beverages were wonderful. The town is beautiful clean inside and out. Excited to get to go back again.

The San Juan islands are an amazing place we anchored the boat that went to shore and went on a 5 mile hike to the turn point lighthouse. On the hike you can buy tshirts from a family who lives on the island and they have a really cute dog and the tshirts are amazing. You can also see the school house from 1905 and the school house from 1980. This is an amazing place you should visit and camp here you can even swim but the water is really cold but be careful there are jellyfish. We caught some crab and then had a sunset dinner that was amazing you should definitely go there on your next vacation.

The BLM may have labeled this incorrectly as the San Juan Island National Monument is actually on San Juan Island, this is on Lopez Island at Whatmough Bay.
This is why you are seeing the same images on both.
Regardless of their error in naming it, Whatmough Bay is a must visit location on Lopez Island!

Our first sighting of tufted puffins. Large feeding frenzies of gulls, seals, and large kelp forests. Wow what an amazing place for birders, nature photographers, and just about everyone.

One the most scenic, beautiful places in the world! 168 islands (4 with WA State Ferry Service) and home to our resident Orca whale pods 'J-Pod, K-Pod, and L-Pod'! A "MUST SEE"!
