We took more than three trips during the last few years organized by intrepid. Always very satisfied with the organization and customer service. They also really try to live their stated mission of supporting local communities and being sensible of environmental impacts (eg minimizing plastic waste). The guides were always local and the travel group never disappointed us.

I went on two hiking trips in Nepal with Intrepid. Everest base camp was an amazing experience. Such a nice group, with a great group leader. Everything is well organized, the accommodations are good and the information we receive before, during and after the trip is more than enough to provide a wonderful time. Annapurna base camp was less successful due to an older, less enthuastic guide. Intrepid offered a discount for my next holiday, since this trip was really below average. So I would definitely use this company again, given my good experience overall.

I have taken numerous trips with Intrepid over the years, however, their current behavior (COVID-19)is shameful. I feel sorry for employees who work for a corrupt organisation. (Management refuse to get on the phone)

Changing the booking conditions retrospectively, illegal and unethical.

Claiming 25% fee for cancellation, fraud. Where is your evidence? I would be happy to pay for services rendered, not to contribute towards your profit.

Not responding to emails and call for weeks, come on, you owe us better than that. Then sending our no personal PC template emails. Poor form.

I do hope the pressure from the ACCC and your (former) customer persuade you to act appropriately. ( See flight center)

My trip has just been cancelled midway through in Cambodia - while we're on the bus to our next destination over a 3hr drive!

No notice, just a good luck and later on when things settle down we'll think about giving you a credit note,

Being sent on a bus to Siem Reap tonight and then left to find our own way.
2 further nights accomodation at the same hotel - will not be given to us even though it's been paid....
Told we need to pay for it.

Intrepid guarantee!

definitely will never use them again or recommend them to anyone.

With what is going on in the world at the moment they sound be looking after there customers in a much better way

Whatever you do, DO NOT give your money to this co...

Whatever you do, DO NOT give your money to this company. Their business practices are pathetic and they mislead their customers and try to keep YOUR money. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!

Here's why:
I was really looking forward to going on an overseas tour with Intrepid Travel for my 40th birthday in April 2020. Of course, COVID-19 happened and I had to change my overseas Intrepid tour to a domestic one.

Then on 13th March 2020, Intrepid sent an email assuring me that if they needed to cancel my (domestic) tour, they would offer either a 150% credit or a refund minus unrecoverable costs (which one would assume would be a nominal amount). 6 days later, Intrepid emailed to advise that they'd cancelled the tour and also that they'd changed the Booking Terms & Conditions (which is illegal according to the ACCC), which now excluded refunds and instead offered a credit of 110%. (Not sure where the 150% offer had disappeared to).

Since then, I have contacted Intrepid by email and phone approximately 7-8 times and each time, have been brushed off with a standard response that keeps re-iterating their 'offer of 110% credit' or promising that someone will call me - only for someone to email me from an address that I can't send a reply to. It has been the most frustrating experience and a reflection of how pathetic their business operations have become.

Finally after 6 weeks since my first email, someone from Intrepid called me and again offered me the 110% credit, or a refund minus 25% for 'unrecoverable costs'. I asked what the unrecoverable costs included, to which the Intrepid rep 'couldn't tell me'. How ridiculous that they can make up an amount, which is most likely covering their business costs and probably has nothing to do with my actual trip.

Not been picked up for our seven day trip to Alice Springs. Been up since 05:00 waiting. This place is meant to always be open but can't get a reply from anyone.

Update. Four hours later and still nothing. The reply on this comment refers to receiving holding messages through Facebook and being told to move offline on twitter. No resolution.

About Intrepid Travel

Intrepid Travel: The Ultimate Small Group Tour Experience

Intrepid Travel is a leading adventure travel company that offers small group tours to some of the most exciting and exotic destinations around the world. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Intrepid has built a reputation for providing affordable travel packages that offer an authentic local experience.

What sets Intrepid apart from other tour companies is their commitment to responsible tourism. They believe in leaving a positive impact on the places they visit, which means supporting local communities and minimizing their environmental footprint. This philosophy is reflected in every aspect of their tours, from the accommodations they choose to the activities they offer.

One of the things that makes Intrepid so unique is their focus on small group travel. Unlike other tour companies that pack as many people as possible onto a bus, Intrepid limits their groups to no more than 12 people. This allows for a more intimate and personalized experience, with plenty of opportunities to interact with locals and explore off-the-beaten-path destinations.

Intrepid offers tours to all seven continents, including popular destinations like Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Australia. They also have specialized trips for families with young children or teenagers looking for an adventure.

If you're looking for an unforgettable travel experience that goes beyond just ticking off tourist attractions from your bucket list, then booking an Intrepid tour should be at the top of your list. Here are some reasons why:

1) Local Experiences: With small groups led by knowledgeable local guides who know all about hidden gems and secret spots you won't find in guidebooks.
2) Responsible Tourism: By choosing sustainable accommodations and supporting local businesses.
3) Authenticity: You'll get up close with locals through homestays or community visits.
4) Flexibility: Choose from different trip styles such as Basix (budget), Original (classic), Comfort (upgraded accommodation), Independent or Expedition trips.
5) Affordable Prices: You don't have to break your bank account because there are options available at different price points depending on what you want out of your trip.

Whether you're interested in trekking through remote mountain villages in Nepal or exploring ancient ruins in Peru; snorkeling along coral reefs in Indonesia or sampling street food markets across Vietnam; there's something for everyone on an Intrepid tour.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a unique travel experience that combines adventure with responsible tourism practices while still being affordable then look no further than booking an Intrepid Tour today!
