If you re looking for an honest and in depth review here you go.
I ll start with the good:
The backdrop and water might just be the absolute best on the whole of the island chains of Bora Bora. It s absolutely silky and crystal clear and waist deep and warm. The mountains are very close and often steeped in clouds just at the peaks. The moon shines bright on the water.
The activities are plentiful, use TripAdvisor for nearby boat rentals, or snorkeling tours which all pick you up on site. Kayak off the beach, swim in the pool. Lots to do.
The over water bungalows are very charming. They are a little bit outdated but they were not built yesterday. They are still very relaxing and nice inside. You d be hard pressed not to be very happy. The same can be said for the beach view rentals just the same, only difference is location.
Staff? This is sort of an in between, when I first arrived the staff were truly amazing. But after time got on you begin to feel a slump in the service. They recognize your face and their bright and cherry greetings begin to sound more redundant and forced. However if you need something fixed or have a question they are very efficient and very helpful.
The bad stuff:
Well the service changes based seemingly on your contribution or your interaction. The bottom line is waitstaff here seem to be so nice but if you aren t playing the game they will literally cheapen their strides for and toward you reserving the better smile for the guy who s throwing heaps of cash tips their way. Maybe they are tired, but we tried to convey this relax around us and let s have a real moment kind of vibe and still felt that sort of underlying begrudging to smile and greet feeling.
The food? It s barely good but we found a few good dishes, however it s not nearly fitting for the quality of amenities and scenery etc. Mostly I d say it s just not good enough, without a doubt breakfast is definitely their best meal... Food is our area of speciality and eating all over the world. For all they charge and offer you can t hire better chefs with better menus? I felt disappointed and really like I was throwing away money more or less every time I signed that bill for food. But the island itself isn t a great spot for high quality food. French cuisine swears to be world class but it s never cutting edge and the best of it is reserved for the hearts of the Parisian streets snd French coastal towns. So it s influence here is sparse at best and tiresome. The Caribbean flare which takes its creole and French influence just the same typically has amazing meals. How can t the worlds most pristine destination come up with better than cafeteria grade food at a 4 star resort? If you are however selective and keep picks fresh and local catch, you ll be happier with the outcome.
The laundry... WOW, I was surprised it cost anything at all but $14 USD for one pair of pants and the list goes on. It would have cost us $300 USD to do laundry once. And they can only wash it on 120 degree Fahrenheit without softener so starchy and shrunken is the likely outcome and for a hefty fee at that.
WiFi... I imagine this is a big one for many. Let s be plain, it s not good. You can pay for high speed plans during your stay for a small price tag compared to anything else. And sometimes it works, it s certainly works better for Amazon fire stick or Apple TV, streaming devices, albeit a bit grainy at times it works. But connecting the devices and bypassing the tv built in hotel programs is difficult and some times it took 20 minutes to connect. Phone connection via WiFi was a joke. Forget it, it s sparse and when it works it s slow and badly intermittent. That goes for in the bungalow or planted right in the lobby.
