Wow this hotel is beautiful! My mom and I stayed here for her 75th birthday in Sept/Oct 2018. Our room was spacious and had gorgeous views of the canals. Good location and walking distance to the canal tours and Heineken Brewery. Our favorite was the High Tea at the hotel. Delicious food with beautiful scenery, definitely a trip to remember. The staff was very kind and helpful. I also spent time at the gym and indoor pool which I enjoyed!

What a great experience, refused with your daughter Thursday afternoon by a gentleman with a big V on his jacket if you just want to take a picture in the lobby. With corona as an excuse, hospitality at its best.

I am actually staying here at the hotel now and had to write a review. You see, I'm stuck indoors because I woke up this morning with a terrible case of Gout. I can hardly walk and contacted the concierge this morning. They had a Dr. AT MY HOTEL ROOM DOOR IN 30 MINUTES. He diagnosed me, wrote a prescription and THE HOTEL WENT TO THE PHARMACY TO PICK IT UP AND BRING IT TO MY ROOM!!!! AMAZING service, AMAZING people and this place is one of the more beautiful hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in the world. You MUST stay here when in Amsterdam......

Excellent hotel, food, service and staff all very good. Old style interior and good size rooms (for an old Hotel in Europe). Near the Team and Subway system, subway 5 mins walk. The buffet breakfast was extremely good. The bar on the balcony was pleasant to take a drink and snacks in the evening.

As a Spire Ambassador I am often in Intercontinental Hotels.
This one has kept its old charm and the people are very forthcoming and helpful. It is very pricy which is OK since it is excellent, except for the breakfast which was not so good and for that totally overpriced.
There are no eggs, only on request and the rest of the selection is also not so great. As I told them, that I was not satisfied with the breakfast, they gave me a discount, however I would rather have a fantastic breakfast than a refund.
All in all, I would stay there again.

The location is great, the views are great. The hotel itself, and the rooms, are nice. A little old in need of a complete head to toe renovation. Also, the service was so so. We had to carry our bags up the front steps there were no bellman to be seen. We had a much better stay at the Luxury Suites Amsterdam - better rooms, better service, better everything.

Very disappointed with Royal high tea, boring sandwiches, and sandwich cut through, no decoration and salmon was hard to find. A warm snack followed by very sweet cakes that look alike.
Service friendly but not experienced, hot food served with dirty plates on the table. Unfortunately.

We arrived on April 15, 2017, my 70th birthday and they delivered a bottle of champagne and cake. Excellent service, the rooms are extremely comfortable. everything is exactly like on their website. We liked the location because you can walk to all the attractions or you can choose to public transportation that is half a block away.

Spontaneously walked in for a late lunch on a Tuesday afternoon, wonderful on the terrace outside on the Amstel with excellent visibility which is visited by cheerful people passing by in boats. Not recommended without a reservation. Nevertheless, the ladies in question did their very best and we were assigned a table a little later. The 3-course menu indicated various choices and that was excellent. Ambiance is great and the atmosphere is what you expect from this 5 star establishment. Definitely worth a visit if you are there anyway and we have certainly not been here for the last time. Enjoyed with a big G

A very nice stylish evening with an excellent menu. Kitchen at a high level. Prices accordingly, but worth it. The service was really good and humorous. Not a bit stiff. If you want something special here is in good hands.

My husband and I spent the last half of our honeymoon here. It truly was one of the highlights of our trip. The amenities and staff were top notch. Several staff members went out of their way to make our stay super special. We will always have fond memories of our stay and will only stay there on any subsequent trips to Amsterdam.

Staff incredibly racist. Bad communication with each other !!. They are not aware of what has been agreed and you are forced to explain it again and again, while it is all recorded on paper and also shown as evidence. The staff does not think about the guests staying at the hotel, but are selfish and only think about what they like. Finally, never to Hotel Amstel again. They owe this to themselves. They should think about hiring other staff who are friendly and who can treat the customers who are there with respect.

Tonight ate delicious in restaurant La Rive of the Amstelhotel. What a hospitality and what delicious dishes. They had caught that we had something to celebrate. At the end of the evening a nice surprise was arranged.

Royal Afternoon tea done on Sunday afternoon. Reception and food was super. That nothing was done about my mother celebrating her 77th birthday and that we received the wrong invoice 3 times was not so nice.
