Innovative Dance Inc. Review

When I walked through the doors of Innovative Dance the summer of 2018, I had no idea our lives were about to change. I was just trying to see if my 4 year old would be interested in dance. It turns out, she loved it! She did a Ballet/Jazz Camp and received an invitation to be on the Petite Competition Team! A year later, she is now on the Elite Competition Team!
This is a testament of having phenomenal owners and teachers who have such passion, love for their students, commitment to developing your dancer, and the determination to cultivate the potential within.

We are very excited to continue our daughter's dance journey at IDI! Huge difference between this studio and the last one. IDI teaches, trains, and hold the students accountable. Anna is very patient yet strict which challenges them to push past their own expectations. She makes it fun which helps keep the girls engaged.

My daughter has been attending IDI for over a year now and I couldn't be happier. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I had tried other dance studios before IDI and they don't compare. We recently moved 45 minutes away from the studio and we still make the drive. Ms. Anna T. is a great instructor and my daughter loves her! If you are looking for a great studio, look no further!

Megan Young is an outstanding ballet teacher who works tirelessly to ensure that her students are well rounded dancers. She does a fabulous job of motivating as well as supporting her dancers.

If I could give this fraud of a place a zero star rating, I would! My child danced with Mike & Megan for over 3 years, and each year was worse than the previous! Favoritism, gossip, lies, and child isolation are what became the norm for my child's time while dancing there. Countless attempts were made to get things straight, but all we ever got were excuses, and smoke & mirrors about the real problems. The owners constantly shared their financial problems with parents about how they couldn't pay the building rent, couldn't pay their instructors, or had trouble paying various other financial commitments. That type of information is what parents of the studio should never know. If the owner ever got angry enough, he would blast people on Facebook with posts about how "certain parents/kids" would not be invited back, but never once did I ever hear about those threats ever carried out in person, only through gossip rings which the owners created. All this place is good for is draining the love of dance out of a child, crumble the child's self esteem, and teach a child that if you aren't a favorite, then you are worthless!! Just a despicable, hideous, and toxic environment for any child, let alone parents. If you do give this place a chance, it will be decent at first, but quickly, and at the first spot of drama, hold on for a rocky ride of lies and gossip behind your back (either about the parent or the child, and sometimes both!!). So, if you want your child to be completely crushed over time by a tyrant man who yells at his wife in front of children while she is trying to instruct, then go ahead and chose this place!! Perhaps you will have better luck than parents who ALWAYS paid early, always tried to seek truth directly from the owners, and from parents who care about their child's well being!! Good luck!! ...And to think, it took me over a year to be able to write this review because I was so mad at this place! Seriously people, this place is a joke!

My daughter has been dancing at IDI for about 5 months now and she absolutely loves it. Her hip hop dance teacher Miss Kirsten is wonderful. She takes time with all her students to make sure everyone is on the same page. Her passion for dance truly shows every week we are with her and her choreography skills are amazing. Every single night my daughter comes home after class she is filled with so much joy and energy. She loves this class and her teacher! We would recommend this dance studio to any and everyone. We are so glad to be a part of the IDI family.

I ve been dancing at IDI for 9 years now and I m still learning new things everyday. The atmosphere that the owners Mrs. Megan and Mr. Mike have created, is so loving and accepting.

I would truly recommend Innovative dance to any of my friends and family! Seeing the abilities and growth of my friend s daughter Elise dance skills has been so awesome!! Everyone is very welcoming and encouraging. Great job to Kristen, the staff and of course the students.

I am an ACBA student in the 8th grade and I have been a student since 2015 and an IDI student since 2014 my first ever class was something I will always remember I got to meet the really nice owners Mr. Mike and Mrs. Megan and they welcomed me into the IDI family. I have seen my improvements in all styles of dance especially ballet. Mrs. Megan (IDI/ACBA Ballet teacher) helps us grasp what we need to accomplish, and find new ways to teach a step. She also has a positive way of giving us confidence in our dance. The IDI family is a really positive place to be. :)

I am a Dance Grandpa and my granddaughter, Addy P, dances at IDI. Now before I was a Dance Grandpa I was a Dance Dad when my granddaughter s mom started dancing 39 years ago. So that Dance experience has exposed me to several studios in Arlington and a lot of different studio owners and dance teachers. I saw a mixture of good things through out the years but when my granddaughter got to Innovative Dance the mixture ended and now I see ALL of the goods things in one place.

You have to start with the owners, Mike and Megan, you can see their love of dance, love for the individual students they teach and love for the parents/grandparents/aunts and uncles/etc. who bring their children into their studio.

Megan s teaching skills transcend to each and every individual student that she works with. She fully understands that each child is individually unique and she shows them what they need to do to improve that maybe a fellow dancer doesn t need to do.

As a grandpa I can walk in that studio and know that I will be welcomed with open arms by Mike, Megan and their entire staff.

Every time I go to watch my granddaughter practice, perform in recitals or at competitions I can honestly say I m so happy my daughter found IDI! It s truly where family is!

Thank you Mike, Megan, Ms. Kirsten and Ms. Anna G. for what you have taught my granddaughter in the last 4 years! Looking forward to many more!

After several studios, this one is great. Caters to all young artists. And the owners are always there and support you on many ways.

I am a ACBA student in 7th grade as well as an innovative Dance student and these teachers are my idols I would love to be just like them when I am older. The Owners are so sweet and caring, Mrs.Megan and Mr.Mike thank you so much for everything y all do for me, I don t know what I would do without you guys. Dance is my life and I love it so much

Every dance studio isn't perfect but I can promise you this the love and caring these owners and teachers spread around to our children while also at the same time teaching their craft is incredible.. The passion for dance is executed in a way that makes each child feel special, intelligent, while at the same time capable of becomming anything they want to be in the dance world or in general, just a good person.. If your comming here expecting to try and be a "social dance mom or dad " and looking for an environment where you can talk down about other children or compare them, you will of come to the wrong dance studio., sorry, I.D.I has a contract you can sign , upfront, that keeps this studio running with only the best intentions for success for these students! Positive and encouraging words that foster self esteem , respect and a work ethic for a successful future in dance (if that's what they want to pursue) ., Social skills and high morals which will always be very protected by the owners and teachers . The children who dance here will always be I.D.I.'s number one priority and if you ever feel differently it's probably not a good fit for you and your child. My child and my best friends children have attended now over 5 years. Going through a divorce in the last 3 years this "I.D.I." family stepped up to help me raise my daughter so we wouldn't have to leave dance due to finances. This studio also teaches wonderful special needs children .The owners and faculty believe that dance should be available to ALL children to experience. The love and dedication they have for dance rings true when you walk in the front door . This is why I chose this studio for my daughter. I know what I wanted for her and they delivered!

I m a student at Acba and Idi and have been there for as long as I can remember! Their teachers are remarkable! The owners, Mrs.Megan and Mr.Mike, are the best owners i could ever imagine having! This studio is supportive and caring, which makes us a family! And I couldn t ask for a better family!

Excellent place. Recommended 100%. My 5 year old niece in the Petite Team had improved so much. She was so shy at the beginning and now she has no fear to dance in front of people at all. In fact, she was selected to perform a Solo which is absolutely beautiful well done.. One of my favorite part of her journey was looking at her doing an splendid heal stretch which she has practiced a lot to make it perfect. I am so so looking forward to see her performances again this year and during competition season. I know that with all the dedicated teachers in the academy, especially Ms Mariana and Ms Anna, she will continue to grow as a dancer.

Megan Young is an outstanding ballet teacher. Your child will learn a lot from her.

As a former competitive dancer with Innovative Dance, I still rely on the technique I learned from Mrs. Megan as an All Star Cheerleader. I use the ballet technique she taught me in my tumbling and jumps. This studio offers great training.

They need to schedule more hip hop and please have older ages

IDI is a place for everyone to learn, mis megan, mr. Mike ,mis Kirsten they are amazing! Lia is new to the hip hop team and she has alot to learn but she loves her class!

My niece Elise Alba goes to innovation dance inc. and she loves it. She always comes home with a smile on her face and tell me how much fun she had. She has learned so much from her instructor Kristen this past year and I can t wait to see what else she has in store.

My daughter Elise has been at innovation dance for a year and a half now and she absolutely loves it. Miss. Kristen is amazing. Megan and Mike the owners are such sweet people. The environment in general when walking in feels like home. Thank you guys so much for all your help!

This studio is great! Kristen does an incredible job with her students and I love the impact this place has on the kids, especially Elise! Everyone we know that goes here is extremely pleased.

This is a great place to dance if you're just starting out, or at a competitive level. My daughter is in her 3rd year, and is constantly being challenged by her instructor, Kirsten Herrington. I would highly recommend Innovative dance for anyone looking for a dance studio.

Lia just joined the hip hop team and she has loved it since day one! Everyone is like a family and classes and so friendly!

I highly recommend this dance studio. My daughter has been dancing here for a couple of years now. She continues to grow as a dancer with the help of her teachers and dedication. Innovative Dance has teachers that are trained in all aspects of dancing but that also specialize in specific genre. They are all caring, knowledgeable, and patient when it comes to teaching the students. They recognize the students' strengths and weaknesses and build on those skills. I completely trust leaving my child at the studio during practices. The owners are very responsible, caring, and loving towards all students.

My daughter has been dancing here for three and a half years and we absolutely love it! This has become our dance home and family! Ms. Megan is an amazing teacher, she is teaching my daughter amazing technique and choreography while keeping it a fun learning environment!

My daughter just recently started her dance journey, and we are so happy to be doing it at IDI. Ms Anna is patient and kind with her entire class, and the owners have been easy to communicate with. We have felt very welcomed from the first day in the studio.

My niece has been going to Innovative Dance for about 3 years now. Trinity is always excited to dance and tells me all about her competitions, and performances that I'm unable to make. Her dance instructor, Ms. Kirsten, is a great chorographer, and always pushes the girls to learn new things. If you're looking for a dance studio come in and talk to Mr. Mike and you will feel right at home.

I fully recommend IDI for their excellent professionalism, and their ability to guide and teach kids according to their age. Especially, Ms Mariana and Ms Anna who have guided my niece in the Petite Team with a very sweet but still firm way of teaching which has helped her not only to improve her dancing skills but also to flourish her personality as an individual. My niece enjoys her classes very much and she is always looking forward to her next class.

My daughter has danced at Innovative Dance for 5 years and we would not consider going anywhere else to dance! The teachers are very professional and work to help kids grow in the art they love. They teach the proper terms for moves and give the skills necessary for students to pursue dance as a career if they desire, while at the same time making it fun and energetic for students who just want to dance recreationally. The owners are the nicest people you'll ever meet. It's like being part of a family. They don't put up with "drama" from families who want to make a stink about their "perfect child" and how they should get special treatment. They don't accept misbehavior from kids in their facility. I have seen them tell a child having a tantrum with Mom that their behavior is unacceptable and they need to follow their mother's directions. There have been a few times when girls tried to be rude or snobby and those girls are not invited back. This dance company inspires a true Team atmosphere. The kids support each other and are happy for each other when someone succeeds. But they also compete to be better every day. No dance mom's here either. If you're looking for a place to encourage your child to be the best they can be without all the drama and negativity, this is the place to be!

Innovative dance is and has been our dance FAMILY for 5 years! I can t imagine life or dance with out them!! Definitely recommend them!!

IDI is awesome. My grand daughter has been going there for some time now. Mr. Mike and Mrs. Meghan are the owners and they are nice people that truly care about the kids.

This is my daughter's first year here and I must say I am really impressed at the professionalism they display. You can tell they really care about the children. We love Ms. Anna in the ballet II class!!!!

My granddaughter loves dancing at IDI! When Addy talks about dancing at IDI her face lights up! She has grown so much over the last few years dancing at IDI! My DIL is always praising the studio and the instructors. IDI is my granddaughters extended family!

My daughter Gracie has been a student at IDI for 10 years. She has grown not only into a beautiful ballerina but she has also grown from the love and support she receives from her instructors. Mrs.Megan, one of the owners, has influenced Gracie greatly by finding her strengths and weaknesses!

We have been part of the IDI family for more than four years now. We left a previous dance studio due to several owner/instructor/studio issues. We love IDI and truly consider it a family. The owners care about each individual student and their families, making everyone feel like an extension of their own family. The instructors are top notch. They truly care about their students and maintain high and realistic expectations for them. Not only do the students learn about dance techniques, but they also learn to care and respect for other dancers and adults. The students work as a team to support each other in the good and difficult moments. Gossip is not tolerated at this studio, nor is disrespecting dancers or family members. If you are looking for dance drama, you won't find it at IDI. Also, one of my favorite things about the owners is how they take time to get to know the students and parents. They care about how well the kids are doing in school, too, and value their academic success. IDI makes a conscious decision to preserve the art of dance with their students. Ballet technique is the foundation of dancers at IDI. And, parents can rest easy knowing that recital and competition costumes are chosen with conservative taste in mind. They want students to be judged on their talent, not their costume, or lack thereof, like some others studios you might see. All of these things add up to a great family atmosphere where my child is respected and I feel comfortable to stay and hang out to watch my child perform, or leave and run those needed errands knowing she is well taken care of while I'm away.

I am so thankful for having such an amazing group of teachers at IDI who tremendously support every dancer at the studio, especially Ms Mariana and Ms Anna Tran who have helped Isabela to get out of her shell. I fully recommend IDI as the place to take your child to learn Ballet/Jazz/Tap in a family environment which embraces the growth of individuals as well.

Just had an amazing recital and it was such an honor to watch so much amazing talent on that stage - even from the youngest - to already see their ballet technique in those adorable little dancers is a true testament to the talent and teaching of the owners and instructors. I love how classical ballet technique is the foundation of the teaching at this studio and the result is multi-talented dancers from ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap and even hip hop! I also love the character that the studio inspires in the dancers - all are so encouraging of one another and it truly is an extended family. I would not let my daughter dance anywhere else. She has grown so much over the 6 years that she has danced at IDI.

My daughter is in her third season of dance at Innovative Dance, with 2 years on the competition team. She is always excited about dance class and loves to perform. IDI has a very positive environment that encourages kids to always do their best and have a good attitude while doing it. Her teacher, Ms Kirsten, is a great teacher. She has a firm but kind teaching style, and my daughter has improved a lot under her guidance. As a parent, I appreciate the relatively no-drama environment, allowing a space for parents to watch the girls during their dance class and always having age appropriate costumes and dance routines.

If you are looking for a truly high-quality dance studio for your child in Arlington, please consider Innovative Dance. IDI hires only the finest instructors, who understand that what makes a great studio is an emphasis on the fundamentals, artistic excellence, and a loving, family atmosphere. The owners, Mike and Megan, have made sharing dance with young people their life, and I do believe Arlington is lucky to have them. I have noticed that the staff is able to recognize what makes each student special and make it a point to bring that out in the student's training and performance. The tumbling instructor is also exceptional: encouraging, positive, and an incredibly talented and experienced gymnast and teacher. We couldn't be happier with our experience with IDI.

After another great season, it has been amazing to not only see the changes in Gracie's technique but also in so many of the girls. We feel blessed to be at a studio for 7 years where our daughter is continually taught, nurtured and encouraged.

My sister in law, Mina has been dancing at innovative dance for 10 years and in the last four years that I ve known her I have watched her grow into a beautiful dancer and person. There is an overwhelming feeling of welcoming in this studio. The owners Mr.Mike and Mrs.Megan have treated me with pure kindness as if they have known me my whole life.

IDI is a fantastic place to have dance classes they have contemporary, ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap you name it! The teachers are very helpful the place is very nice and clean my daughter lia started off in a reg hip hop class with mis Kirsten and now she is in the competitive . Mis Kirsten is dedicated and firm and knows how to lead her class with no problem. Lia loves being part of the IDI family! Definitely recomend!

I love my dance Studio so much they helped me become a beautiful dancer

We have been at Innovative Dance for the last year 3 years. They have been so nice and kind and caring to both my girls. They are genuinely invested in their dancers and students. My daughter has grown so much under their guidance and teaching. They have a wide range of classes for all ages and skill leve . Best part is she gets to dance with her good friend Addy. Her mom and I were teammates in hight school and now our daughters get to be teammates on their competition team.

My friends daughter Elise goes here and she absolutely loves it. She says Miss Kirsten is an amazing instructor.

Our Daughter Claire was 2 or 2 1/2 when I asked her what she wanted to do when she grew up. She said "I want to dance Swan Lake in Paris." We said "Alright." and started looking for a studio that she could dance at. I called a few local studios and came across IDI. From the time I started speaking with Mr. Mike (one of the the owners), I knew this was the place for my kid to go. You could hear the Passion in his voice when he speaks about dance and the Love and Caring when he talks about "His Girls" (All his students). I love this place and the positive environment for these young girls. From all the teachers that work with and love on my daughter, to the competitions and recitals that are so well put together and absolutely beautiful, to the older girls that have adopted my kid as their little sister; I can tell you this as long as Claire dances she will be at Innovative Dance Inc. Great Job!!!

My daughter has the worse experience at IDI. they do not care about the student but making money. I will never recommend this school.

Love this place! I've taken a lot of classes but my favorite by far is Dance it Out with Tor. His spirit and energy is phenomenal. All of the instructors are great though, friendly and helpful. I have zero dance experience so I stick to anything that is follow along or beginner.

I am so happy that I brought my daughters to this dance school! They learned so much and their teachers were so patient and kind. My girls have really enjoyed this school. The owners are amazing. I really can't say enough good things about them.

My daughter just started her 4th year at IDI and she loves her dance family. She has spent all 4 years on the Competition Teams. My son also takes hip hop at IDI. I wish we would have found IDI earlier!! From the first time we walked through the doors we were welcomed with open arms. The owners, Mike and Megan, are fabulous and always ready to answer any questions you might have!

At IDI they don t just look for text book dancers instead they work with your dancers strengths and teach them how to turn their weaknesses into a strength!

We love the teachers! I really appreciate how dedicated the whole staff is to giving kids a solid dance foundation, building confidence, and providing them with a lifelong love of dance! My daughter dances 6 days a week and looks forward to her time at dance EVERY day!

One of the many things I like about IDI are their viewing windows. You can casually sit in a chair and see through the clear windows! They welcome parents into the studio to sit and relax while watching their child in class! I love sitting there and watching parents talk to the owners and teachers. Sometimes it s to ask a dance question and sometimes it s just to talk about life! LOVE!

I definitely recommend sending your kids to Innovative Dance!! Drop everything and RUN to IDI! Our life would not be the same without our IDI dance family!
