I've only ever been here for brunch, and I have found most of the dishes to be fairly bland except for the shakshuka. It's fairly spicy, and the thing I order every time, but there's not enough depth of flavor to make me come more than once every few months.

nice French restaurant in UWS. I , unfortunately, chose a night that ended up colder than expected, so dinning outdoors was a challenge. The menu doesn't come cheap. And I found myself not overwhelmed by a comprehensive abundance of taste. Maybe I wasn't on my best that day, or just the escargots were not enough condimented , nor the Medoc the right quality for $15 a glass that I chose to accompany the steak.
I think that if the flood of French taste you are looking for this is not the top choice of French restaurant in NYC.
otherwise staff was courteous and helpful.

There is nothing French about this place (apart perhaps the name). I had breakfast with my partner we both were disappointed by the poor quality of pastries - the croissants were not fresh and the coffee under average

One of my favorite spots in the UWS, not only because it is just a minute from my apartment ;)
The restaurant is open 24\7, which is good if you want good food in the middle of the night, and not just pizza or junk food.
The atmosphere is great! Dim light, great background music (!) and quiet enough to have a conversation without yelling.
The food is great, not the cheapest, but worth the money.

Was very excited to experience French Roast with my girlfriend as we read reviews and saw the amazing pictures. The inside is lovely, the dining experience was homey and felt like I stepped back in time! The waiter was very kind and brought us water and coffee right away, we ordered the french toast and it came out picture perfect! The reason for my 3 stars is that my girlfriends dish of Eggs Benedict was undercooked, smelled of smoke, and was very much not edible. I had potatoes and eggs as my main breakfast, but you can t really mess that up. The eggs were blandly presented with a few potatos on the side served with ketchup, charged $14! Overall the experience was lovely but the food was subpar and not what was expected. The french toast was delicious though, I recommend that if you are dining at French Roast. Also, coffee was average

I've always been a fan of the location in the Vill, and this spot on the Upper
West Side, while different has a lot in common with it. In a real good way.
First off, it's tucked into a nice little corner of Broadway. It adds to the warm
and dulcet environment you walk into. I've done most of my hangout time
at the bar here, which makes for great conversations to be had. And if you
happen to get here on a late night, it's a patently more peaceful vibe than
in the day hours. As far as food, you can't go wrong with that onion soup.
It's not exactly what you could get in a Parisian cafe, the naysayers would
suggest. But it's close, and for the price really good. Their breakfast items
like the French toast sing to you as you eat. And the drinks? The bartenders
here make it a point to ask you what you like, and you'll find yourself sipping
a great cocktail while having a good conversation. All in all, this French
Roast is continental cuisine with flair and class.

Cozy and fun French bistro on the Upper West Side, serving well-portioned and tasty French and American food. For dinner tonight, I had the red snapper - nicely cooked, and the rice that accompanied it was cheesy and amazing. Someone had More

I love going here for coffee of course and their big ole burger, which I get with cheddar cheese with a side of fries. It's one of my favorite places uptown to get my burger on. It's big and juicy every time.

This is also a great spot to chill with a friend with a glass of wine or coffee. A nice atmosphere with a french feel.

So I happened to be around the area waiting for some friends to go to the movies and I stumbled upon this gem for a quick brunch. I am beyond happy to have had extra time to myself because the food was amazing! I had a Croissant Sandwich which contained smoked bacon with scrambled eggs and gruyere cheese accompanied with a Frisee salad, beyond amazing!! I couldn t resist and decided to order the Apple Pie Sundae along with a Cappuccino and ever so glad I did it was the perfect ending to my spontaneous solo date.

Easily one of the most consistent bistro style restaurants in NYC. Their liver is amazing so even if you think you hate it, give it one more try. The staff is great and doesn't hover to make you feel like you've stayed too long and it's a great atmosphere for either a first date or just meeting with friends.

I didn't like the French fries, they weren't cooked enough but my other friends liked the onion soup and kale and beet salad they ordered. The service and vibe were good. The prices were fair. We will probably visit again.

Just be prepared to spend a lot of money. Place must have great historical significance. I wasn't impressed with the food for what I paid. Maybe if you get really really drunk you won't mind the price tag. Coffee was good but not the espresso. Service was weird and staff had full on private conversations in front of patrons loudly.

At the heart of the UWS lies a very French corner: The French Roast NYC. I would go every day and make it my home kitchen. Well, it delights the senses from a simple coffee with a croissant in the morning to a casserole of clams. Excellent service and cozy al fresco atmosphere, responding to Covid19 times in New York. Felt as though we were cheated. We ordered eggs Benedict and french toast. Both were poorly prepared from the cheapest ingredients.
Hollandaise sauce looked like just melted butter and the poached eggs were cold which suggested they were cooked long before and has been waiting in the luke warm water. The bread of the French toast had a weird yellow color. I think they were bought frozen, probably one of the cheapest ones, and just were warmed right before being served. We often eat outside and try new places in NYC. So, I have a good idea about how the brunch food is in other restaurants (e.g. Spring kitchen, good enough to eat, le monde). This place is close to a roadside diner where no fresh food is available. But they charge more than other restaurants who you would think in the same league just judging from its looks &design.
Although it looks cozy and crowded from the outside, the food is not genuine for the price.

Nice space and Friendly staff but do not except any culinary delight. It s open on all holidays which is helpful they just need to revamp the dinner menu. Brunch is almost decent

Sunday morning, sat at a beautiful table outside. 5 minute wait for waiter. Ordered coffee and a sticky pecan bun. 6 minute wait for coffee. 15 min wait for the bun. Pastry is dry, with very little cinnamon or caramel, little bit of nuts. 10 minute wait for the check. No tip, not coming back. Half an hour of my life I'm never getting back.

Went tonight and the food was good, and the waiter was nowhere to be found. I told him I'd had an issue with the chicken before and when I got the food he never checked on me. Then when I paid, he asked if I want change. YES!! Always bring my change. It's mine. The food is good to great here, but the service usually is poor. I spoke to the manager and he seemed uninterested and offered me nothing for my trouble. The disappearing waiter act is so lame. They should make sure the food is okay and return the change. Anything less is amateur night.
Service is usually a killer here, despite the sometimes great food.

I had been wanting to try Petit Trois for some time. So, when Father's Day arrived my family suggested we go for dinner. We had no idea what an exceedingly good decision that was.We arrived and found parking easily in the lot and we were seated immediately. Petit Trois is quite small so the seating is limited to a counter facing the kitchen or on the opposite wall. We didn't mind at all as we were hungry and feeling happy.
