About Indivisible project
Indivisible Project: A Nationwide Movement for Progressive Advocacy and Electoral Work
Indivisible Project is a nationwide movement of thousands of volunteer-led local groups that engage in progressive advocacy and electoral work at the local, state, and national level. The organization was founded in 2016 by a group of former congressional staffers who witnessed the power of constituent advocacy during the Obama administration. They created a guide to help citizens resist the Trump agenda, which went viral and led to the formation of Indivisible groups across the country.
The mission of Indivisible is to cultivate a grassroots movement that holds elected officials accountable to their constituents and promotes progressive policies. The organization provides resources, training, and support for its local groups to organize actions such as town halls, rallies, phone banks, canvassing efforts, and voter registration drives. Indivisible also works on issue campaigns such as healthcare reform, immigration reform, climate change action, voting rights protection, racial justice initiatives.
One unique aspect of Indivisible's approach is its focus on building power at all levels of government. While many organizations prioritize federal-level advocacy or electoral work during election cycles only; Indivisible recognizes that change happens from bottom-up rather than top-down. Therefore they encourage their members to engage with their state legislators or city council members as well as federal representatives.
Another key feature is its commitment to inclusivity and diversity within its membership base. The organization recognizes that people from different backgrounds have different experiences with systemic oppression; therefore it prioritizes creating safe spaces for marginalized communities within its network.
Indivisible has been successful in influencing policy outcomes at all levels since its inception. In 2017 alone they played an instrumental role in stopping Republican efforts to repeal Obamacare by organizing massive protests across the country which put pressure on moderate senators not supporting it.
In addition to issue-based campaigns; Indivisible also focuses on electoral work through endorsing candidates who align with their values or running candidates themselves under "IndiVisible" banner (a program launched in 2021). They provide training programs for potential candidates or campaign staff members covering topics like fundraising strategies or digital organizing tactics.
Overall; Indivisible Project has become one of America's most influential progressive movements since it started four years ago due largely because it empowers ordinary citizens who want change but don't know where/how/when start taking action against injustice happening around them every day!
