Excellent staff and great food. Loved all of the animals.
Very fun if your having a family get together. Love the animals.
Amazing. It has changed so much from the first time I went 7 years ago. Love it and highly recommend. We bought the year round family membership plus 2, so our kids can take their friends with them....also flower and butterfly garden, what else do you need
The Dolphin show was spectacular. Also, loved their Christmas lightning.
I love the Indianapolis Zoo when I am not making appearances and or in the ring I am there. I always wear my Hulkulesor Allen Reid Green Camouflage Vest which provides me with convenience a Fannie pack on my chest to hold cell phone charger and my headache medication along with my Indianapolis Zoo membership Card. Great set up for the kids. But many animals unseen this time of year.
Absolutely lovely zoo, very walkable, plenty of spaces to get out of the heat, and good parking.
Love going to the zoo I live very close but I went in the winter and the price was higher than in the summer makes absolutly no sense please concider, THANKS!!!
The exhibits are really nice and all but the zoo is quite small and you only see the birds flying over once an hour. But other than that the animals are very cute and sometimes interact with you.
Great place to bring the family. Most of the food places were closed, but we brought a packed lunch. Orangutans seemed depressed though...
Still one of the top 5 zoos we've visited as a family! Zoo n it's exhibits never disappoint! Plus they have dolphins which no other zoo has that were aware of except San Diego! Great time n fun always!
All of the animals were great. The pathways we're kept clean of trash. The viewing areas were well planned and allowed for easy crowd flow. The employees were all courteous and helpful. Then why did I only give this place a 1-star rating? Because the dolphin show was extremely short (less than 20 minutes) and the trainers, two videos and songs couldn't stop preaching the environmental agenda. Look, I'm all for us caring for the environment, but 3 and 4 year olds came to see the dolphins entertain. They were unable to get anything out of the videos and only caused the parents grief by trying to keep the kids interested while the recycle-preaching videos were ongoing. The zoo leadership should be ashamed that they use a family's time at the zoo to shove their political agendas down the throats of paying customers. I won't be going back nor will I be promoting this zoo to anyone who asks me about it.
My family and I always enjoy ourselves. The animals are neat to see. The place is clean and the staff are friendly.
We love taking the kids to Christmas at the zoo. They do a great job with Santa's village and the lights around the zoo. A bit of a warning is that during this time the parking lot can fill up fast and may require parking in an alternate lot.
It was a great day! Great for the whole family! Amazing zoo.
Hmmm wouldn't be the animals now would it lol loved all off thm
Some of the exhibits are getting run down, and the newer orangutan church rollercoaster exhibit is just sad and weird. Other than that it's a good big zoo.
LOL i hav a cat in my house why wold i want to go out and see aminals
Love coming here with the family any time of the year!!
First of all, we are out of towners from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Small in size but it scores high in quality. Scores higher than the Tulsa zoo.
PALES in comparison to the zoo in Wichita, Kansas. The entry fee left us wondering...why so much for such a small place.
Nice place but we wouldn't visit again at that price for the experience we received.
Don't forget to hit the THUMBS UP button if you found my review helpful.
My family had a great time. Will be back this summer.
Not many animals to see for $70 and having to pay to go through every door is ridiculous. Not to mention the animals seemed anxious!
Had a good experience, not to crowded and the dog show was great.
We are from Ohio and are members of the Toledo Zoo. I was a little disappointed to hear they didn't participate in the shared membership plan for discounted admission. We previously went to the Fort Wayne Zoo and I was highly disappointed, so I decided to give this Zoo a try....and I am glad I did! It is in my top 3 Zoos list along with Toledo and Cincinnati. I love the open layout, it feels like you can reach out and touch some of the animals! In fact, some of them you can! I loved the shark petting, the dolphin show and the orangutan building, just to name a few. I highly recommend this zoo, it is a great experience!
Loved it kids loved it, go early in the morning it's so worth beating the crowd. Very clean to, I wish we could of pet more animals. We got to get the sharks and that was really neat but that's it.
Really great zoo overall. They also have pretty good social distancing practices in the year of COVID. I think my favorite jewel is the butterfly garden in summer till September
Nice visit. There were many precautions not to spread the virus.
Best Midwest zoo! Check out the spectacular orangutan enclosure with the aerial observation gondolas affording amazing views. See elephants on the plains. "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!"
By far the the cleanest, and friendliest staff, and fellow purchasers. This zoo survives a lot from donations from many big providers.
The food is far too pricey. They can establish plenty of income from other people through purchases. By, by the time you purchase your parking, gate fee, and food, with about 5 kids like I have, you will be out about $200-$300 for the trip. I live locally too.
Work on those prices Indianapolis zoo. More attention will come.
I own a membership also, so I will be attending often.
This post is deemed in abeyance, and will be updated as I go along.
Thank you,
And enjoy the wildlife, at the Indianapolis ZOO.

My family & I love this zoo! We come several times a year and are never disappointed. This was our first time visiting this year, during COVID, and I was very impressed with the zoo's staff and their guidelines. Wearing a mask didn't ruin our day one bit. Yes, the zoo is small, but there's still so much to see! I think the only thing we didn't do was the dolphin show, and that's only because it was sold out by the time we got there.
The only downside was that while we were in line to ride Skyline, it broke down (for the day, we were told by an attendant). It was a bummer because it seems like everytime we come, there's something wrong with that particular attraction, and we were excited to finally be able to ride it. Maybe next time. :) The tickets didn't go to waste, though, as we used them to feed the giraffes.
Always love going to the Indianapolis zoo. There are great animal interactions and learning opportunities for kids of all ages. Also included in zoo admission is the white river garden's, the kids love all the colorful butterflies.
Very nice place for children to enjoy together with the different variety of animals but some area smells like animal poop because they don't clean it regularly.
xZOOberance (and all of the other special zoo celebrations) are so much fun!
Zoos are a thing of the past but if you going to visit a zoo, this one is a good one!
Well maintained exhibits. Decent variety of animals. Dolphin show is a must see! This is a much smaller zoo than others I have visited. This is a perfect zoo to handle with smaller kids, I loved the nursing nest. Great half day trip!
I hate that they dont accept CASH... For anything ...it needs to be posted.. So my grand kids never got to do the rides or get anything at the gift shop because CASH is all i took ....its a shame and i am not happy
Some friends from OH were in town with their youngsters. Was a great experience
Dont expect alot of animal views on the train ride. Aquatic exhibits are awesome.
Incredibly amazing. Those animals are spectacular and kind.
We just love this zoo! I highly recommend checking it out.
You can see macaws flying free in the sky and orangutans climbing high above the walls on the special elevated platforms! Small zoo but great quality!
Love the zoo. Came to see the sloth and wasn't disappointed.
We have the family zoo pass and love it! Our pass has paid for itself several times over, as we go a few times a month. Very clean, friendly environment. Helpful staff and everything seems conveniently located. Love the "chat" exhibits where you can learn about the animals up close. The dolphin show is a must see as well. If you're looking for things to do in Indy, add this to the list.
Great day. Four year old grandson kept saying best day ever. The orangutans, lemurs, tigers were really active, as was the walrus. Definitely a 5 star experience.
Place is great but very highly price paid over 3 times at this zoo compared to others around the USA.
Great weather and we went on a Friday and there were not many people there especially early in the day.
Had such an amazing day on my birthday. Was so glad i got tp soend it at the zoo !!!!! Watching the 4d movie riding the train feeding the giraffe watching the penguins getting fees amd all the animals out and playing in the water and the dolphin show was the best as ever !!! Only thing i didn't like was that there was no one there to take my picture with my wife to have a memory zoo day picture when yoi first walk in !! Other than that fantastic !
Cost too much.....25.95 for one person is not good at all......no amusement park or zoo should cost that much.......
As of now this zoo is pretty good. We had fun at the dolphin show which was worth the admission alone. This is on the small side, but will be getting bigger in the next year with the construction of the Orangutan exhibit. We will be back.
Oh it was weird that they do not allow outside food inside the zoo. Come on, really?
Loved the dolphin show. Great experience. Just wish it was a little bigger.
Wish the price was better but great place to bring the kids and family
Nice lil family time online said it was 5 dollars today but it was 15 still had a nice time. Not all Animals were out will go back when its warmer.
We visited a few years ago for an anniversary trip. This was the sole reason we came back to Indianapolis with our kids. Totally worth it! You get so close and animals are as interactive as they can be and still maintain safety.
A relatively small zoo but I like it. It's easy to stroll around for 2-3 hours and see everything.
Enjoyed MLK day at the zoo. It was cold but there were plenty of indoor activities too. The family enjoyed the new snake exhibits.
The Indianapolis Zoological Society is a non-profit organization that operates the Indianapolis Zoo. The zoo is located in White River State Park, which is situated in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The society was founded in 1964 and has since been dedicated to advancing animal conservation through education, research, and community engagement.
The Indianapolis Zoo covers an area of 64 acres and houses over 1,200 animals from more than 200 species. It offers a wide range of exhibits that showcase animals from different parts of the world. Through this partnership, the zoo has been able to raise awareness about climate change's impact on polar bears' survival while also supporting PBI's research efforts.
In addition to its conservation efforts, the Indianapolis Zoological Society also provides educational opportunities for visitors of all ages. The zoo offers various educational programs such as camps for children during summer break or school field trips throughout the year.
Moreover, it hosts several events throughout the year that are designed to educate visitors about animal conservation while providing them with an enjoyable experience at the same time. For example, during Halloween season every year they host "ZooBoo," where families can enjoy trick-or-treating while learning about bats' importance in our ecosystem.
Overall, The Indianapolis Zoological Society strives not only to provide visitors with an unforgettable experience but also empower people locally and globally towards advancing animal conservation efforts through education initiatives like their Conservation Conversation series which brings together experts on various topics related wildlife protection issues facing our planet today.
