Impero Software Review

I work in IT for a school division and this software has been invaluable to us. Has a lot of logging which protects the students and the schools. It is to everyone's benefit. You know it works well because of the all the bad reviews ;)

It's obnoxious. You can type in the most random of words: 'fut', and you guessed it, it's blocked under the 'games category'. I'm all for firewalls, but this is ridiculous.

Really good and all, but requires you to input your login again sometimes for no reason. Features are ok, but can be done in other software with better detail

This extension software works very well, it can block anything that they set, and it can uninstall apps to hack through any programs. This extension can track everything, as well as prevent future hacking or bypassing. It also has a mode where, at the push of a button, you can block students screens and make them completely unable to do anything on their computer. This can be lifted at any time you choose, and works well, and it's nearly impossible to bypass. I strongly recommend this extension software.

A very good product for Safeguarding - highly recommend

I don't like it my teacher spies on my work when all i want to play is mine craft. They always delete my work and it makes me very upset.

I love how this makes the computer classrooms feel like the Chinese Government, utter lack of any freedom, causes multiple annoyances with a lack of any good qualities.

Fabulous piece of software! Great to monitor and control classrooms.

Impero software is the lead education network and classroom management software company in the UK. Sale Grammar School has been using this essential piece of software for over 2 years and it has transformed the way we manage our school network. The addition of multiple new modules ranging from safeguarding to Mobile device management has meant that Impero has kept at the forefront of educational technology support. The support team are quick to resolve rare issues and the developers are quick to resolve bugs in an extensive and complex piece of software. In this modern age of mobile and online technology it is essential to have software that helps us provide the safeguarding requirements that Ofsted require. After using previous network management software for over 8 years, moving to the Impero network and classroom management suite has transformed the daily routines of the ICT department and has also provided an essential classroom management tool for the teachers in the school.

My school uses this, its useless, its lags out, freezes and crashes. Wouldn't reccomend.

I love it when teachers know exactly what I'm doing at all times! I get such a range of emotions when I'm trying to kill my friends on Counter-Strike and all of our games are closed. It invades my privacy and ruins my fun.

My teachers always watch our screens with this instead of teaching, and it bans non game websites like every minute. Especially google docs and google in general. It is so glitchy too and I hate it when Impero print credit disables me from printing school projects. Just hate it.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by the impero software, while our teacher watches our screens he doesen't even teach us the lazy bum!

This software is an authoritarian behemoth. It will log your passwords without your permission along with everything else you type INCLUDING YOUR PASSWORDS AND OTHER SENSITIVE DATA A good quote that describes this is a policemans job is only easier in a police state. If you are an it manager who wants to buy this censorship simulator because it 'makes your job easier' then please consider the civil liberties of students that are at risk. The extension is also terrible as it is very easily bypassed. Stay away from this please not worth the bother

Quite a stalkerish device. Can be used to watch what you do and even just control your computer and have the potential to do malicious things.

Impero is a great place to work. Great products and great people.

This software is useful, but blocks certain topics that ARE STUDIED IN SCHOOLS. It tries hard but is easily bypassed, crashes frequently and is just a large annoyance.

It seems that the negative reviews on here are being left by students or people who believe IT and staff are just spying on them or their children.

Impero has helped me pickup on things like bullying and terrorism activity as well as bad behavior and ill intentions. Impero has great functionality for teachers in the classroom, and the back office IT department.

Honestly, this has to be the worst rat known to man. This is used at the school I attend and has caused so much unnecessary drama. Not to mention not functioning correctly and its easy bypassing (which is fun). Please do not buy this product if you want a functioning school/business.

this software doesnt like my rolls. i tried to search how to butter a roll and i got impero'd. please can you tell me why this keeps happening. i feel as if impero are watching me through my laptop while i attempt to butter rolls which is a large invasion of my blockhead lifestyle. my gender requires me to eat three servings of buttered rolls a day. so getting impero'd is really dangerous for my gender as i feel as if steve will come after me. please help so i can settle my nervs

Impero is a great classroom management tool! Not only can we ensure students are safely engaged in lessons, we can utilise the software to broadcast screens, take polls and quizzes, send and receive files. From a senior mgt prospective they can check for child protection issues and react accordingly. It also helps us to cost save by shutting down computers at specific times of the day! Great support and a product I would certainly recommend.

impero is a glorified shoulder surfing software

I type in personal login details that can be seen and logged so people can easily see my personal data. i did not consent to this and if i did, i was not made aware of what all of this would entail. its not like anyone likes to view pornography in lessons. it can also be used to hack my screen and make me click on stuff i might not want to. none of this i agree with. I'm all for firewalls, but this is ridiculous. the fact that teachers have this power genuinely scares me, not because we cant access our discord chatroom but because of the way that impero can be abused. this contradicts our freedom with "hate speech" being illegal, despite the offence having no exact definition. Why are we silencing ideas, yes some lead down a dark path such as the Nazi party, but considering this device is similar to the gestapo's tactics I don't think people would be too concerned.

it does have a few advantages, such as making polls, broadcasting to other screens and allowing teachers to keep students safe, but this is largely overshadowed by the students who believe their privacy is being invaded, which is understandable. i myself being a student and a logical one at that understand how impero can be used positively, i accept its necessity as a vital piece of software for IT technicians and teachers but it has the ability to not only view login data but also log it which is an issue that must be fixed.

another idea is a feature for impero to be able to remove some of its restrictions at breaks or lunchtimes so students can play computer games at these times, so they may have some access to recreational activities at the suitable times.

just get rid of it.... I might use this on my teachers. its so hard to disable as well contact me if you want to know how to turn it off. I'm always here to help...

In my opinion i have some problems with impero such as the bugs it has and the fact that it can control other computers as a result lots of hackers could use impero against innocent computer users as such this is a problem , not to mention the teachers that it is aimed that makes it unsafe for pupils.

the idea of impero is just cruel and unsafe for schools as teachers can control student technology but so can hackers if they can hack or even use a school's wi-fi.

until impero fixes this problem i will not and therefore do not recommend it to anyone because it is to dangerous for schools and has bugs and bad privacy makes it something not to be used , there is a ton of other options that are safer so they should use them instead.

This software is spyware, and it is so glitchy too.

I think it will be easy for you to see that the poor reviews are being left by students that are being monitored by Impero. It saves our IT department time by sending offending student's screenshots to a representative at each school so they can deal with it. I would highly recommend this for any school district.

Edit: Impero has only gotten better. The latest updates are making Impero quicker and less clunky.

Invaluable piece of software. Not only great for IT staff to monitor, support and maintain equipment but great for classroom teachers as well. The support service is always helpful and professional. They also provide web based training on the product to help you get the most out of the solution. The product was never purchased as a safeguarding solution but that is an added bonus for us. The logs have also proved very useful when investigating issues

This is the trashiest software I've ever used. The students continue finding ways around it. It keeps freezing.
