I have a storage device from imation. Already loaded on the storage device is an application from imation that creates a secure partition that requires a password to access. As an added security feature, if a person types an incorrect password 6 times, it automatically reformats the drive......A great idea, huh? It would be if it always worked. I've been using the added security every day for 2 months, typing in the correct password every time. For no apparent reason, the password is no longer recognized. Therefore, I now cannot access the VERY important information I stored in the secure partition. Now rejected 5/6 times, the next unaccepted password will cause my information to be deleted. I contacted imation for a solution and was told, "sorry........we suggest you to look for a data recovery software or local center to see if it can be retrieved." They didn't even have a suggestion for data recovery software, or other utility. I was basically told Sorry, Good Luck, Goodbye.
TO IMATION: Unless you properly test your software, and discover ANY possible issues, you had better have a utility that users can download to reset the 6-try counter on the application, or some other solution.
