La Forketta is the best restaurant in Singapore , unbeatable location.
I love their Wood Fired Bake Sour Dough Pizza. Organic fresh pasta is also very artisanal , full of flavours , fresh tomatoes and love their cocktail creations.
Will definitely visit again.. The BEST!!!

Very disappointed. The quality of food was exceptionally poor and what is worse are the steep prices (for that quality). There are plenty of amazing restaurants in singapore you can spend such money at and have much better quality food. There were 10 of us and not one was impressed. Everything from starters to pizza and pasta - all very disappointing. Although some did enjoy the desert, I was so put off by the time I finished my main I was in no mood for desert.

Please take it from a foodie and don't waste your time at this restaurant.

Food was amazing , however it s spoilt by the cold energy amongst the staff .
The waiters and staff are the most unfriendly stuck up bunch of people I ve come across . Everything is an effort and one is more grumpy than the other . Get a takeaway . Don t sit around these miserable people.

Just had dinner for the first time at this restaurant. Quite disappointing. Food is ok, but nothing special, this has probably to do with the Asian staff and lacking knowledge/experience of Italian cuisine. It s pretty overpriced. They definitely try to make money on their exclusive water. Overactive staff is filling your glass after every sip.

My wife and I had dinner there. Pleasant place and attentive service. The salad and bread service were OK but the breaded veal dish and spaghetti carbonara were edible but somewhat below mediocre. We told the waiter who was simply apologetic but made no move to try to make things right. Disappointing and fairly pricey. We will not return.

I visited the restaurant on Valentines Day and the service was terrible. The place was short staffed and the mains kept coming out before the starters. The waiters appeared frazzled and were rude in their interactions with not just our table but with other customers as well. I waited one hour for my first course and the main did not come after I was done with the first course.

I waited for a good 20 minutes, following which I asked the waiter if I could pay for just the starters. At this point I was terribly disappointed in the service and I just wanted to leave the place. The waiter then came back with the bill- it was $117 for 2 starters and 1 drink, when the Valentines Day Set Menu was $88 per pax. I was curious to see how the final bill was calculated and I asked the waiter to show me the ala carte menu. Upon showing me the ala carte menu, the waiter re-entered the bill and my final bill became $78. This was ridiculous - I had never been to a restaurant that would charge their customers with such little care.

Highly disappointing experience. 1st time there and will not go back again. Don't ever celebrate your birthday there. No cakes allowed. If you should be so lucky that they change their mind and allow you to consume your cake, get ready to cough up $42.80

Mediocre and sub-standard Italian food. Apparent...

Mediocre and sub-standard Italian food. Apparently arriving late is actually taken to account as a crime here. They tried their best to accommodate us as we were a table of 8. However before giving us a table we were being told that we had to actually finish eating and clearing the table by 10:30pm. Please take into account that this was a Friday night. And we were totally clear about the no consumption of alcohol by 10:30 but we were completely shocked that even the food has to be finished by then. Come on, you are in the food and beverage industry not the banking industry....really need to be more accommodating especially when you dare to charge that amount.

We decided to adhere to the ridiculous and outrageous time frame given to us as were hungry. We decided on our mains as fast as we could and wanted to ordered drinks.

When we wanted to order cocktails. Some of the standard cocktails like old fashion, Singapore Sling, Martini, Manhattan were not in the menu, hence we decided to ask one of the waiters if we could order the standard cocktails that you would typically find at ANY regular bar. However we were actually being told of that we could only order from the limited cocktail menu.

For food we ordered some appetisers to start off followed by pizza s and pasta. The appetisers turn out to taste like leftovers from lunch and together with really dehydrated chicken wings.

The pizza then took almost forever to come when the staff had already emphasised that we had to evacuate by 10:30pm. After a long wait the three different pizzas came out randomly at different timings. And some of us had nothing to eat because of special dietary needs.

After almost finishing the pizza. The pasta was no where to be found...later to only find out that the order was not even being keyed/executed. I mean if you are really wanting to close and clear everything by 10:30pm. At the very least you could do is confirm everything and repeat the order that we had actually placed

There were extremely so many chances to do a service recovery but no staff of yours seemed to have the initiative to do a proper one. And all seemed to be in their own world thinking that whatever they were doing is right. You charge for bread a basic piece of starter for bloody 9 bucks when other restaurants absorb that into their costing. Honestly La Forketta has extremely big shoes to fill especially when they are located at DEMPSEY when all their competitors is just right smack at their face like COMO, Culina, Hubers, P.S cafe and many many more F&B options. There s no reason why any of your patrons would want patronise this establishment again given the price point and the service.

Visited as a Guest in the La Forketta Restaurant in Dempsey hill for Dinner just today. We chose to stay indoors - to enjoy air conditioning. La Forketta restaurant was exceptional, not only because every meal we enjoyed had a variety of options and was flavourful but also because the prices were so reasonable. And really wanna say the restaurant staff is so friendly and everything was awesome. Me and my gf would love to visit again.

My experience with La Forketta was awesome !

The service was fast, knowledgeable about the menu and hard working.

The Pizza and all the dishes I had were top notch. The 4th Season Pizza and Pizza Margarita really uses the very best ingredients.

I will be coming back often because now I know where to find one of the best Pizza ever !

The converted barracks offers a great sense of space as you step into the smells of Italian food cooking. The pizzas that come out of the massive Wood fired oven are quite good - the selection is large with something to please everyone (when the pineapple lovers). The pasta is apparently fresh and the lasagna we had was good (but not great - a little dry for my liking). The selection of wines covered a broad range of tastes - as long as you like Italian.

Booked and arrived to place quite early so it was empty, and wanted to choose a cosy table, just to be told it was reserved and we had to go to the worst table. Yeah, right... i just hate being a fill up in restaurant. As I am a First come, first serve type, so i cannot rate this place highly. Service was just a bit condescending and cold. Pizza are fine.

Definitely "not recommend" !

Definitely "not recommend" !
I have never been to a restaurant anywhere in the world where they charge you for tap water. When I questioned the bill, the attendant was very apologetic & polite whilst also commenting "this is Singapore" ?

Aside from the above we ordered Gnocchi with cheese sauce & a calamari dish to share amongst three of us before deciding on the main course. 8 or 10 pieces of gnocchi turned up in a cheese "soup consistency" sauce which barely tasted of cheese. It was quite honestly the worst gnocchi I have experienced.
Calamari was average nothing to comment about either way...

Mains were;
Pizza Capricciosa which was decent but at SGD 33.00 not wow.
The veal schnitzel which was the best dish of the night.
Finally the third member of the group ordered rigatoni al ragu carne... The best thing I can say about this dish was that "we sent it back". It was honestly terrible...

To summarise, with the exception of the service, which was decent, the overall experience was poor & definitely not deserving of the price... It is way too expensive...

As an aside, any restaurant that charges for tap water needs to examine its business model/philosophy. For every one dollar earned, it's a thousand dollars of negative customer experience...

I took the ice out of the negroni and I confirmed there was almost no liquid in it. I asked the waiter to confirm and perhaps fix it up a little bit, which he agreed to. Instead, the Chinese lady manager came out to explain me, with her assertive demeanour, that that s how they make it and I could either change the drink or remove it from the bill. Frankly, it s so unprofessional and petty. Any place would just fix the drink and move on. But they are so cheap the actual manager took it upon herself to come out and explain us why her business was not going to give me the expected few milliliters of drink. Petty and sad. She sounded like a primary teacher teaching me how to drink my drinks. I almost cried. I hope she and her family have a better life now because she saved those few drops of precious negroni.

They served authentic Italian food that you cannot find anywhere else in Singapore. Pizza La Forketta is the champion! Staffs are well trained, which it is quite rare in Singapore to find this kind of quality of service. You can tell that they have high standard from the moment you stepped into the dinning area.

Quite possibly the worst affront to Italian cuisine in Singapore. The evening started with some promise, a decent bread basket with some small bite sized pieces of pizza; it was all a tease. The burrata I ordered was so dry and hard- it may have been used as a door stopper for the past 6 months. Clam soup so watery it was as if they simply scooped a bucket out of the Kallang river and set it to a boil. The rest of the meal was edible- purely for sustenance. When I relayed my concerns to what appeared to be the manager, he simply provided an awkward apology, before promptly slipping me the billl. Thanks for your hospitality- really hit the nail on the head. AVOID unless you have a fetish for over priced awful food.

In sum: terrible food and overpriced.

In sum: terrible food and overpriced.

The good:
Nice ambience, staff were pretty attentive.

The bad:
There were some hidden costs. When we sat down, the staff immediately asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, without any reference to its cost ($7). After we ordered our mains, they also brought to the table a bread basket, again without any reference to the cost ($5), until we asked. And honestly I wouldn't mind, but the bread wasn't even nice. I disliked that they were not upfront about the prices.

The food was expensive but tasted terrible. We ordered a lasagne ($29) and a carbonara ($30) . To be fair, the lasagne was still pretty average. The carbonara however was tasteless, except for the bacon bits which tasted like they'd been soaked in salt for days. The real disappointment however, was the pizza ($33). The description sounded enticing, but when the staff brought the pizza to our table.. Well judge for yourself. Tbh i think pizza from Pizza Hut or Pezzo tastes better.

I don't actually mind the price and the hidden costs if the food is good. But with food this terrible... I haven't been this disappointed in a long time.

EDIT JAN 2020:

What is up with all these fake 5 star reviews???? Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Been to so many other places and my partner and I still joke that nothing is as bad as la forketta

Absolutely terrible service, and mediocre, overpriced food. At almost $40 a dish, you'd expect at least reasonable service - but they somehow managed to get my wife's pasta order wrong twice, and still charge us for the (more expensive) wrong order.

There are loads of great Italian restaurants nearby - give this one a miss.

Subpar food at ridiculous prices. Good atmosphere. You can get cold water in a glass while dining but before you even sit down they try to sell bottled tap water at ridiculous prices just so you can refill the water yourself at your table.

This review still stands! Updated 2020. Definitely the worst food you can have at the most expensive price at dempsey Hill.

Food is okay, but the service is bad. We waited for almost 1.30 hour for our main dish to be served. After we reminded the waitress, it took another 30mins to serve us. Utterly poor service for the price they are charging. Will never return again.

Food taste was less than expected for the price range. Materials used were fresh and good.

Rated only 2 stars due to the poor service and excessive additional charges. Staff was polite but not attentive. 4 of us were given a small square table whereas a family of 3 (2 adults 1 child) were given 2 Square tables. Need to constantly remind them to top up water and food was slow to serve.

Pizza took 20 to 30 mins serve which was normal. However, the seabass took an additional 30 mins before being served and that was just too long a wait. Thank god we only ordered 2 dishes to share among 4 persons. If we ordered more I doubt they could cook it up on time.

We were charged for the bread basket and tap water. At establishments with this price range, this is not really the norm.

Wouldn't come back here as I have had better food and experiences elsewhere.

If someone was trying to make bad tasting food, even then the result would be better than what they serve at this so called 'Italian restaurant'. We went because there was nothing else open at that time but I think it wouldve been a better decision to sleep on an empty stomach rather than having this kind of food.

What a complete package! This restaurant served the best authentic Italian food in the whole Singapore. I was amazed to find that they only use organic ingredients from Italy and fresh seafood. They have the best sourdough pizza, I do not think I can eat anywhere else after trying their pizzas! I could not understand why this restaurant is so underrated!!! The staffs are warm and attentive, I can see that they are still able to maintain good service even when the restaurant is busy. The ambiance is indeed splendid, with the colonial feels, it makes this restaurant totally stands out compared to others at Dempsey area.

Pizza was expensive but ill say it was tasty enough. Its getting a poor rating because the pizza that was left over and carried home (which often pizzas are) was thrown into a plastic bag. Who puts a pizza in a plastic bag? Have a guess what happens to a pizza thrown in a plastic bag. Aluminum foil was invented over a hundred years ago. This place didnt get the memo.

The food is below average this time and they clearly don t care about the well being of their patrons - we requested no raw garlic as we are allergic to it. When the food came, there s raw garlic! The person who took our order argued that it wasn t the case and the garlic was cooked.

It s a first that an Italian restaurant charges $3 for the parmesan cheese on the pasta dish!

The restaurant is chaotic with people who wore sloppy outfits who are supposedly working here roaming around - it cuts down on the appeal and made it unprofessional.

This s our second time here and we re unlikely to return to a barely filled restaurant on even on a Saturday night.

If you can t book a restaurant on Saturday there s always space available here.

if you are expecting an authentic italian restaurant, do not expect it. ordered the pizza and seafood linguine. pizza was not too bad (is hard to go wrong with pizza), though it has a strange dough disc on it. not sure if that is decorative purposes. also terrible uneven cutting skill. seafood linguine is fishy. suspected that the ingredient is not really fresh. was surprised to find a piece of lobster meat in it.
be ware that they do charge you for the breads, this was not being asked by the service staff, it was just 'ordered' and placed on it. neither did they asked if we wanted big or small still water. my partner wasn't aware that still water wasn't the same here in sg as in hk, again service staff didn't attempt to clarify it. it would be nice if we were asked about it.
just be prepare for it being on the high side, if you are looking for something more value, i'm afraid this is the wrong place to be at.
all in all, a forgettable experience. won't even recommend it to anyone.

When you walk into this restaurant it looks like you should enjoy what they serve. The building is beautiful and has a very contemporary style however looks can be deceiving!
My food was ok, my son however loved the pizza. The service was awful and there was only one other family in the restaurant! Took 10 min for someone to come over and then the service was so slow. At one point there was an angry exchange between the waiter and staff. Honestly beware of restaurants that are empty in a very busy area. The locals obviously know! We won't be going back.

I brought some friends who are visiting to Dempsey and was hoping for a pleasant Italian meal for the night. However, we were sorely disappointed with both the service and the food. The bad service started when we arrived and the male waiter had the worst attitude - unhelpful, rude and unprofessional. We had the salt cod fish tagliatella pasta and a vegetarian pizza. Food was boring in both taste and presentation. Overpriced and bad experience. I won't go back again.

Better think twice before going to la forketta. Extremely overpriced, service attitude quite poor, food quality low average. 150 dollars for 2 persons without desserts and wine. 45 dollars a pizza and 45 a pasta plate....30 some antipasti, etc...the pasta was not even well cook. For sure I'll never come back again and will never recommend this place to anyone.

La Forketta is one of the many restaurants housed at Dempsey Hill. The ornate wooden beams and high ceilings have been beautifully restored and successfully integrated with the restaurant s overall classy cosmopolitan Italian charm. Managed by an Italian couple, La Forketta is not a new player in the mushrooming Italian dining scene having been one of the pioneers (circa early 90s).

La Forketta ($39, Large)
It s rare to have sliced black Angus beef atop pizza but the combination of flavourful grilled meat with parmesan, rosemary and rocket really did work! I enjoyed the thin sourdough base too

Spaghetti Alla Carbonara ($29)

Warm Chocolate Cake ($13)
Highly recommended by staff, it s also a favourite among regular patrons. A dense moist chocolate sponge drenched in warm chocolaty sauce. The sweetness of this dish is very subdued, leaning slightly towards being bitter.

SCANAVINO MOSCATO D ASTI 2018 ($60)
Piedmont signature white grape, responsible for the distinctly superior, lightly fizzy Moscato. It was rather sweet but still to my liking.

Plain Water ($1)

Overall Damage: $39 + $29 + $13 + $60 + $3 = $168.48

The food is very good and the pizzas, in particular, are quite tasty. If you like a slightly crispier style while not being crunchy, they re excellent. The pastas are more of a mixed bag. The carbonara thankfully had no cream but ended up tasting like mac & cheese with bacon instead. They also need to use a lighter noodle. The tagliatelle with stewed beef shank is really good. The gnocchi are good but very rich and heavy. The porchetta is nice. The burrata was nice but half the normal size at the full-size price. In fact, their antipasti in general are quite overpriced, as are the desserts. Bread isn t free. Even tap water is $1 per person, though they at least flavor it a little and it tastes nice. Overall, I think the food is rather good but poor value for money.
