The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (abbreviated IITB or IIT Bombay) is a public engineering institution located at Powai, Mumbai, India. It is the second-oldest (after Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur) institute of the Indian Institutes of Technology system.[2]

IIT Bombay has a comprehensive graduate program offering doctoral degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.[4] Currently IIT Bombay has a total of 14 academic departments, six centers, one school, and three interdisciplinary programmes. Over the last 53 years, around 39,000 engineers and scientists have graduated from the institute.[4] Educational programmes here extend beyond the physical sciences and engineering into humanities and social sciences such as Economics, English, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology and into management studies.[6] Over the years, the institute has also created a niche for its innovative short-term courses through continuing education and distance education programmes.IIT Bombay was the second Indian Institutes of Technology to be established in 1958 with assistance from UNESCO and with funds contributed by the Soviet Union. UNESCO agreed to provide equipment and technical experts mainly from the Soviet Union, while the Government of India accepted the responsibility for all other expenses including the cost of the building project and recurring expenses. The site chosen for the institute was Powai with an area of 550 acres (2.2 km2) which was given by the then Bombay State Government. While construction was being completed, the first academic session of the Institute opened on 25 July 1958, in its temporary home at the Synthetic and Art Silk Mills Research Association (SASMIRA) building in Worli with 100 students. These students were selected from over 3,400 applicants for admission to the first year undergraduate engineering programmes of Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Engineering Physics, Energy, Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering and MSc Chemistry. One of the main objectives of establishing the Institute was to develop facilities for studies in a variety of specialised engineering and technological sciences. The need for establishing adequate facilities for postgraduate studies and research was kept uppermost in mind in the founding years.

While the Institute was functioning provisionally at Worli, an effort was made to expedite the progress of the building project at its permanent location and Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone of the Institute at Powai on 10 March 1959.

There are three types of students I see here

Type 1) Study moderate and organize events, clubs and others
These students generally go for MBA or Equivalent...

Type 2) Neither Study (just pass) Nor Clubs
They exist out of chance and don't they get placed?, girlfriend obsessed and others

Type 3) Study more and less participation in events
These guys more focus on placements, career growth and comes first in rat-race. These category students have been toppers throughout their academics

Overall , which ever the category student belongs he/she gets opportunities along the way throughout their life!

IIT BOMBAY .....

IIT BOMBAY .....
In
Maharashtra
.
.
It is one of the few IITs which is located in the midst of the city.Other IITs (except IIT Delhi in older IITs) are settled at the outskirts of the city.
IIT Bombay's annual fests organized by student body like Mood- Indigo (Cultural) and Techfest (Technical) are highly recognized and popular in the student community and claimedto be biggest at Asia level.
IIT Bombay organizes the most number of events (probably by any institution in India).

Everyday there is some or the other event going on the campus- either a seminar series in some department, or a drama play or a movie screening etc. etc.Performing Arts Festival (PAF) and Valfi are the unique functions organized only by IIT Bombay. You can get more information about these events on the internet. You can witness animals and humans living happily there.
Dogs, cats, snakes, bulls, monkeys, peacocks, leopards P) you name any, they are there.

The new startup hub, Hiranandani Powai Hub, is a kilometer away from the institute. You must have taken a glimpse of it in TVF Pitchers. In the above picture too, it is visible Despite being in the midst of the city, you can witness altogether different life inside the campus- a peaceful one.The nearest local railway station from IIT Bombay is Kanjurmarg station. The rail- track has a platform on both the sides so you can get in and out from any side.

The best Institute for engineering. The most recognized for good placements and the infrastructure and the ambience. The people studying here are lucky and ambitious but little odd also. The college situated in the lush greenery environment is known for the tech fest. The hardest to join and the most admired college. If you're looking for good inspiration and better future join this. The self study is must cause over the years the teaching quality has dropped down. Iit bombay is known for quite and peaceful environment. The professors are well known book writers and some are treated as bollywood stars and people get excited when the arrive. People go crazy for them. And the outside people will never know how famous they are inside the campus. The tech fest is associated with numerous colleges and the certificate is considered very precious one. Must visit once so you can feel the environment. Also people are bit weird here as they are shy and all nerds will blow your mind. Big companies like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Apple, are there for campus interview. But the placements have gone down by 5-10% than the last year. But the packages are exciting and guaranteed to make you rich. In short clear your JEE to admit here. Don't keep reading reviews, go and study.
