The only good thing that has came from there that I know of is my precious Syler. That's where I got my service animal and he is a delight he is the best dog I've ever seen in my life and I'm not just saying it because he's mine but every time I go there the people are snobby they are not good to their clients and one time I got accused of stealing something that I didn't steal they accuse me of stealing a thermometer but anyway they should work on their customer service big time

I brought my pitbull, bella, in to surrender due to her getting aggressive with our other dogs and we figured she would have a better chance of getting adopted in boise since we had tried to find her a home in weiser and there just wasnt anyone. We told staff that she needed to go to a home with no other animals and no kids. We asked the staff if they could handle her and if they couldn't what would happen to her and made sure they knew about her agression and if they couldn't handle her that we could take her to a place that would not euthanize her. They reassured us that they very rarely have to euthanize them and if they couldn't help her anymore they told us specifically they are in contact with pitbull rescues who would take her in. Bella just barely turned one. They gave my baby four days and then they euthanized her, my girlfriend and me called six days after dropping her off and they let us know that two days prior they put her down due to aggression. They lied to us and made us believe they were gonna do whatever to help her. I do not recommend the idaho humane society to anyone!

Always great to go see the animals! Would love to adopt a dog, but they are $80 - $150. Pretty expensive considering all the toys and food they would also need. Best to go adopt when they have a special day

I feel like they are more hands on than West valley humane society, more friendly and once you walk in the door you do get the feeling that the staff cares. I've seen them go above and beyond to find a lost pet's home, it was great. These guys don't get government help, and they really do have good intentions, if you are thinking about adding a new furry member to your family, please stop here first, you'll most likely find a forever friend.

I have had no experience with IHS and I don't expect to except to save an animal or two from this place.

I was actually going o donate but after reading these I won't to IHS. I will definitley donate to animals but I will donate to organizations whom show compassion to those whom walk through the doors.
If I was treated like most these folks, ummmm that would not be good for me or them.

If you cannot deliver compassion to the people, how can you deliver compassion to the animals?
I urge everyone whom can afford it too save these animals.

Did you read the review about the gal whom took her dog in for a a simple two teeth extraction and when they went to pick her up the vet took it upon himself too pull 12! No phone call! Sickening! Who the hell extracts 12 teeth from a four yr old animal? Incompetent vets do!

Prices higher than expected, staff seems to struggle culturally? A burden they bear is fighting local vets limiting their practice and fees apparently?
$$money talks!
Current staff seems capable. Nov 4th, 2018

Great place if you're looking for a pit bill mix or a Chihuahua mix. I have to say I'm glad ID residents take care of their animals more than other states which is why this place has limited choices on a dog to take home.

I understand that they are an animal shelter and they are very busy but the Idaho Humane society is very bad at giving people updates and they are very hard to get ahold of. I wish they had a better system so that it was easier to contact them they never answer the phone and they don t respond do there emails or voicemails. I haven t had a good experience with any of there staff maybe this is because there is not enough staff so they are all really busy and can t help you or maybe it is because they are just not nice staff either way they are not helpful or happy. I appreciate everything this animal shelter does for animals and they way they help I just wish they were more effective.

They do not have a good adoption procedure. I found two dogs online that I wanted to view and put in an application for both of them which they told me I was first on both applications. They called me and told me to go online, pay and schedule an appointment. When I arrived at the shelter to meet the dog that was described as very friendly and gets along with everyone the dog growled at my son so we were not a good match. When I asked to view another animal they told me No. I asked what about the other animal I was first on? They told me I would have lost my space to that animal and I could not view another animal, I would have to go online and schedule another appointment and pay another $25 to view an animal. I told them I was surprised all the dogs were accounted for and that I was not able to view any at the shelter. They explained that this is their policy and I would have to pay $25 for every animal I wanted to see and put in an online application for each one. It was a very bad experience and I felt that there were other dogs that needed to be adopted but they would not let me view any.

They have been amazing every time I go. I first adopted my Dane a year and a half ago from them. They were helpful and communicative about what they knew about her. They had no problem with me bringing my other dog there to make sure the two would get along and there would be no problem. I have stopped by a few times since they asked me to occasionally so they could see her. I stopped by today for a simple nail trim and they again were VERY friendly and such a great staff!

I really liked and supported IHS but I am struggling with a recent situation involving them. I got a kitty in October for my daughter. Adorable little perfectly naughty kitty we all fell in love immediately but we noticed some health issues with her over the first several weeks. I didn't get much help through emails when we noticed kitty had medical issues (received 1 email response to bring in kitty to return her but we were all attached). Less than 5 months after getting kitty, was told by IHS that kitty (who was 6 months old) should be put down and her kidneys were failing. I get that they can't help what her health issues were but they still had me pay to put her down... didn't help the situation and felt very insensitive.

Have personally had three terrible experiences (1st being our cat we adopted (years ago) Prince came with respiratory problems..2nd being bullied because we couldn't keep a stray newborn kitten I found at my mothers) Unfortunately this has forced me to use other sources and support other facilities moving forward. The last straw is my when my perfectly healthy indoor kitty returned from being neutered with an upper respiratory infection. 4 days after returning my poor kitty has terrible mucus/snot sneezes in which he never had to begin with. Coming from your new Boise facility at that. So worried about the COVID-19 and yet you can't even keep your clients animals safe. Unbelievable. And the only answer your employee had for me on the phone? "Come see us back for a visit (starting cost @ $53) if it doesn't go away on its own"...ridiculous.

Brought my 1 year old pitbull in because she fell really ill after she escaped from our yard. We were told she had her immunizations but she clearly didnt when she was diagnosed with Parvo. They quite literally are the reason my baby gets to continue living. Thank you all for everything you did for her doctor Anderson and the Vet techs are amazing!

Wow! This facility is organized with the process you have to go through for an adoption or if you are dropping an animal off. They are concerned about the animals & there well being. They want to make sure the animal gets placed where it will be best taken care of.

Never again! AVOID! DO NOT DONATE YOUR MONEY HERE!...

Never again! AVOID! DO NOT DONATE YOUR MONEY HERE! Like a previous reviewer, we adopted a 10 week old kitten. She refused to eat and drink water two days later. We took her back to the Humane Society veterinarian where she died. It not only that she died, it's how the STAFF at the Humane Society handled it. They are the RUDEST bunch of people I have ever worked with. They do not care about your animals. They care about the money. When we asked why it took them hours to call us after our kitten died (we waited ALL DAY), their response "We are too busy". Too busy for a 3 minute phone call? Is this why my kitten died? Too busy to care for it? I suspect she had feline parvo and likely the Humane Society is full of it... Beware!

They were great getting us is, but the care was poor and our beautiful cat died because of poor judgement. Wish they would have really checked his blood test instead of just worrying about how much it would cost. We didn't care about cost.

I have never had a problem with IHS until today. Spent hours trying to find the perfect dog for my kids and I finally found one over at their place in petsmart. I wanted to make sure he would get along with cats so they shipped him back over to the main facility and would give me a call. They called and I headed there to finalize my adoption. I am there at 5:30 and they close at 6. After waiting in line for about 20 minutes I make it to a lady. Explain the situation and she tells me she has no paperwork there so it has to be on the kennel. I said I placed a hold so would it still be there and not somewhere else? She said that's the only place it could be. Head back and nothing there. Ask the back desk lady and she said paperwork goes missing all the time and prints me off a kennel card as she calls it. Back up front and back in line. It's now 6:05 and the same lady calls me up. I hand her the paper and she says she can only place a hold on the dog since it's after 6. I tell her I already had a hold like I said before and ask why I wait in line twice get sent after imaginary paperwork by her and now she won't help me. She said she already doesn't get out of there until 7:15 to 7:30 and won't stay any later to help me. I give them 2 stars and not one because the people in back by the kennels have been nothing but helpful every time I have been there.

Great happy place with dedicated volunteers & workers. Nice Cat room which is very popular. There's also a large fenced grassy yard and I often go to walk the "less wanted" dogs. This place lifts my spirits and I'll always support this wonderful "No Kill" Shelter and its fun events "See Spot Walk"

The animals were great. They let you take the dogs out and walk around a small yard behind the building on a leash, and there are small fenced-off areas for the dogs to run off the leash. The Cattery is great for cat people; you can pull the cats out of their cages and hold them, or just reach in and pet them. They also have small side rooms for you to have one on one interactions with the animals you're interested in.

I honestly felt I was going to loose the best thin...

I honestly felt I was going to loose the best thing that ever happened to me other than having my children. He took some serious scrapes and broken bones, plus punctured lung, couldn't afford his treatment. All Valley Veterinary hospital wanted almost $5.000.00 upon times of service, no payment plan. I qualified for a care credit for $500.00, as if that any difference. I used it to care for his immediate care and keep him medicated until the Humane Society opened on Monday, I did have a open house account balance of $96.00 which needed paid befor ed services which I was okay with. Then there price was a huge difference than Valley Vet. I got quoted $1,250____$1,500 + the best thing was they were the warm caring people who truely loves animals. They also shared that they have a care program that is based off your income and it calculates how much your responsible for and what the cares will cover, God heard my prayers because it calculated that the program covered 90% of my final billing. I also signed a promise note due Friday for All Valley in the amount of $201.00 with no way to pay it. However I will pay what I can when I can.

Don't believe I'll be going to IHS anymore to have a fur baby spayed.
The reason being, they won't remove Dew Claws ,unless Vet feels it's nessesary! I don't think they should be making this decision for me! My reason for having Dew Claws removed is in the fur babies best interest, we didn't do it with one of them and she has paid the price for it ever since.
So when I wanted to do it this time, it's only out of love for her and saving her the anguish & pain of tearing them 2 to 3 times a year !

I m always impressed with the Idaho Humane Society. They do everything in their power to help, rehabilitate, and find homes for animals here in the valley and even out of state. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the kennels are always kept clean. I love that the IHS has classes and events to help educate the public about animal care and safety. If you re looking for a new furry friend and people that can answer your questions, look no further than the Idaho Humane Society!

Last year we adopted a wonderful German Shepherd from IHS. He was a transfer from an overcrowded shelter in CA that Dr. Rosenthal did an amazing job repairing his fractured leg. Dr. Rosenthal, Dr. McGrath, Dee Dee and the foster office all deserve a gold star for all they do to help animals in need.

Brought in a stray dog I found and they scanned her for a microchip and answered all my questions and let me take her home during the 30 day waiting period. The staff was very kind, I called them on the phone with 1000 questions as well. They are very accommodating and you can tell they care about animals.

10/10 Would recommend. I recently took home my precious kitten, Mango. You could tell she was well taken care of. She was microchipped, fixed, vaccinated, clean, and ready to go, all for $40. Can't beat that. Forever grateful for giving me the newest addition to my family. Thank you, Idaho Humane Society!

They care about your sick pet! The veterinarian th...

They care about your sick pet! The veterinarian there, Dr.Koob, has been most exemplary in his compassion and detailed, thorough work. He's taking the time, with no pay, to exchange emails regarding my pet. He gives me full medical information, explaining labs, results, and options for treatment. His professionalism as well as his compassion / passion for his work comes through. I also got great treatment from the front desk staff. (One person rudely towered over me in a body stance when she told me I couldn't be with my pet during her ultrasound and that she wanted me out of there -- I understood the situation and there wasn't any need for her to be anything less than professional. People understand rules and her body stance and proximity was purposefully overpowering and unnecessary). With the exception of the authoritarian "You can't be in here" stance, I can't say enough good things about this clinic and the compassionate, well educated doctors that work there. I would even say that the person who was rude to me probably cared very much about making sure procedures were done correctly with no interference. They may be busy, but they are well worth the wait!
