5 stars for the $6 roll of the day. Never disappoints!
Very good food and attentive staff. They have daily specials on rolls that are worth the trip. Busy during lunch and dinner.
Been here twice now, both times had great service and good food, no complaints!
I love this restaurant! My first visit was in 1997, when I fell in love with the food specially shabu-shabu, and 22 years later I love it even more!! Everybody is very friendly, and to me is a very special place!! Every time I visit San Diego, Ichiro's is a must!!
Really good Japanese food. One of my favorite places
Every time I come home to San Diego, this place is the top of the list to stop at! The sushi is amazing, and the bento box #1 (sesame chicken) is so good I have yet to try anything else in the years I've been going there. Daily sushi specials are always worth trying. The new remodel looks great too!
Happy hour is great, the food is really good but my fav is the seaweed salad, omg I could live off it!
Been a customer here over 20 years never had a bad meal. They have the best lunch and dinner special in town bar none. The chicken teriyaki is so moist with a bit of delicious charcoal crust, I crave it constantly. Tempura delicately fried. Daily special $6 sushi roll and Udon and ramen. Da bomb. Must try!
Bests places hands downs tos gets delicious ramens. Theirs tempuras dynamites
rolls has tos bes ones ofs thes mosts flavorfuls ands tastiests deeps frieds sushis rolls I'ves evers has. Services is always sos friendlys ands this wills alsos bes mys gos tos fors tastys ramens! I hopes this places wills always bes here's!
The ramen here is really good. Take the time to select the ingredients that you want. The service is good too. In comparison with other ramen places I would say it's a couple of dollars more expensive.
Great lunch spot (and I'm sure dinner too). Large sushi rolls, huge appetizer menu, and all the dishes we've tried had been solid. Great value, family friendly, and quality food.
The last authentic Japanese restaurant on Convoy Rd. A place where Japanese customers go to .With actual Japanese cuisine not found in a "sushi bar". A place away from the mainstream, trendy restaurants & crowds. Sorry vegans, hipsters & California roll lovers, This place is probably not for you.
Service was good and staff very friendly. Sushi was average.
Ask for Curry Udon. It is not on the regular menue, there is Curry Ramen on the menue, but ask the waiter to bring Curry Udon instead. It's fantastic.
The food was very good and so is the service would definitely go back
Excellent Japanese cuisine. Friendly, competent service.
This place was wonderful. Amazing customer service, such cheerful servers, and great food.
Family friendly restaurant with lots of Japanese food options. From small plates, sushi, ramen, to hot pot. So many choices, not enough to try all in one visit. All the food was good quality, sushi was priced a bit on the upper end, but I thought all the sides were reasonable value. This would be an ideal place if you were in a small party with mixed (picky) eaters. The place was clean, not to crowded or noisy.
I ordered sashimi. It was wonderful!!! Fresh with a little sweetness, rice vinegar,? I also ordered the vegatable tempura plate. I know so much food. Crispy well fried fresh vegetables. Definitely returning. Waitress/hostess potlite and very personable. Enjoyed very much.
Oh and for those who need to know I saw her disinfect menu, tables etc...
Every time that I've come here there have always been Japanese families eating there and having a good time, a sign of good Japanese food. Chicken Teriyaki and Caterpillar roll are very good and though I haven't had it, friends have tried and loved the ramen.
Service was good. It's nice to find a Japanese restaurant with more than sushi/ramen. The minchi katsu (fried beef cutlet) was delicious. They have a good selection of izakaya plates. And they have a happy hour everyday. I would come back for sure.
The food is great, and in a very nice building. I recommened the deep fried sushi rolls, and the spicy tuna roll.
My favorite Japanese restaurant. Food is always great. Staff is friendly and attentive. Portions are always generous.
Authentic Japanese food. No sushi bar but they do offer sushi rolls. There's a shared parking lot with other businesses and gets full. Service is great, food is great and affordable.
Nice service and good food. Nice lunch selection. Sushi rolls were ok, but not my favorite. Tempura is done right.
Sashimi quality was below average, probably best to stick to popular rolls
Very good sushi. Large rolls and easy location to get in and out of for convoy.
One of my favorite Japanese restaurants. Good sushi rolls as well as bento boxes. The teriyaki chicken is very good. The service is always friendly and welcoming.
The food looks great but it seemed to be lacking in quality and flavor; from the sushi rolls, to the edamame, and spicy ramen...the gyoza was better but the wrap was slightly undercooked for my taste. Also, we were not greeted with a traditional welcome that I always look forward to when eating at a Japanese restaurant :-(
Everything I ve ever ordered from here has been delicious. The sushi is my favorite!
I haven't been to Ichiro in a number of years. I am glad I dropped in food and service were great. I will be back soon.
Being on Convoy street, there is no shortage of choices for sushi. But what sets this place apart is the variance in their menu. They have basically everything we ve come to do expect from Japanese American food: sushi, ramen, bento box, & I even had the hot pot here one time. It s not cheap, but the sushi special at lunch is $6. Overall, a great restaurant, and it looks perfect for groups.
Ramen horrible, yakasoba horrible. Teriyaki bad. This place has been here for a while. You have a hand full of Japanese places around this place I don't know why it's still here. Need new chefs I can make better food.
I've been goin here for over 25 years, I us to work across the street. I have never had a bad experience. The tempura and teriyaki is always consistent and wonderful. I just wish they were closer to my home!
Been going to this place for more than 20 yrs. Sushi is done right. They have good happy hour appetizers. Good service.
This is my fourth time going to Ichiro's, and it definitely will not be my last! Every time I have eaten here, I have experienced great service and amazing food. Our friends who frequently visit Japan had told us about Ichiro's, and I was very impressed with the authenticity of their food.
The restaurant is cute and cozy; we have never had to wait long to get a table. I love to order the bento box that comes with a main, miso soup, tempura, a salad, rice, and sushi. My favorite is the salted salmon or mackerel with lemon! The fish is always cooked to perfection!
On our last visit to Ichiro's we went for a friend's birthday, and the sweet server gave her a tempura covered green tea ice cream, which was very nice. Ichiro's is a wonderful restaurant that everyone will love!
I've been coming here for years. They are very nice, service is excellent, and prices are very affordable. On top of that, some of the best food in San Diego!
We have been coming here for years and we are so very disappointed. The service was so slow. We had to wait for almost 2 hours for our food. We never got some of the things we ordered. We will not come again.
Lived in Japan for 3 years. Had the miso ramen and it had zero flavor, plus the boiled egg wasnt even seasoned! Maybe the rolls are decent? Try something other than the ramen.
The atmosphere was nice and so was the waitress. I came here at 11pm on a Friday night they only had 2 dinner plates on the menu. I ordered the chicken. It was breaded but had no taste and the sauce was unapatizing. Maybe they are better during other hours but I was disappointed.
Prices are great. Try to go during lunch. They also have chef specials everyday.
I love their lunch specials. I came here with a friend, she ordered the new to box and I ordered a couple rolls. Both turned out great with a very short wait.
Great Japanese food inexpensive and easy to order. Parking is the problem here... Not their fault.
I had the bento #2, chicken teriyaki. I was alright.
Been enjoying Ichiro's for over 15 years, excellent food, great value, friendly staff and ownership.
The caterpillar roll was extremely tasty and the service was super quick. They are open late which is a plus (1am on Thursday-Sat). Tried the oysters and they were too big for my liking and really fishy tasting. Enjoyed the fact that they have Ballast Point beer on tap and you can buy a pitcher for $16.95. Server was polite and very fast with all of his tables. Mainly the local Asian crowd comes here.
Amazing quality, particularly when you see the price.
great service and great food. The hours kind of suck but its still a great place
Ichiro's has been added to my favorite casual Japanese spots! Unfortunately I ate before coming, so I couldn't finish my tonkatsudon lunch, but honestly it was such a huge bowl I wouldn't have been able to finish it had I come hungry! My lunch date had a giant bento box that she also had to pack and finish later. Very nice portions!! The garlic edamame was very garlicky and nicely seasoned with some kind of light sauce I couldn't identify, but the layers of flavors were very good! They also offer a special housemade spicy kimchee. Very different from your traditional Korean kimchee! Fremented perfectly, spicy and sour - in a good way! My mouth is watering now just thinking about it. Can't wait to come back!
Great food and outdoor tables. Staff is very courteous and attentive
This is the best Japanese restaurant in town. I keep coming back with my friends and colleagues for lunch or dinner. They love it and bring their family and friends. needless to say: great food and superb service!
One of the best restaurants in San Diego, CA. recommended if you are looking for a great, and expensive, meal. Some of the more unique dishes I have had.
One of the best places for traditional, authentic Japanese sushi in San Diego. Always fresh and delicious.
excellent Authentic Japanese Food i Love This Place for There California Rolls And yakisoba this Place is Awesome really Great Place i even miss the server Greg he's a very Nice Guy awesome Japanese noodles to here as well
Great sushi. Salmon is fresh on Thursday, so that is the best time to go.
