Yesterday was our first real trip out since lockdown and it was a good choice. The gardens were lovely. Loads of parking and the plants were gorgeous. Garden staff were friendly too. Nice the cafe was open too! One member of staff was really kind and helpful - and not just to us.. She was to everyone. Nothing seemed too much trouble and all done with a smile! Well done Hannah!

This is a real gem situated in the heart of the Essex countryside where the array the array of colour in each of the gardens is breathtaking and the best around. The tulips are the best of all the flowers on show with the right amount of smooth contrast and textures of colour. The diversity of gardens is excellent with an Australian and New Zealand Garden, Dry Garden and Winter Garden to a Sky Meadow and Vegetable Garden again with a dazzling amount of colour on show. The site is massive and if you take a nice gentle walk around you can see everything in 3 to 4 hours. Overall this is an excellent property and one where a visitors breath will be taken away. We'll Done RHS.

Lovely day out even though the weather was not the best. We pre ordered ploughmans lunches for a picnic and they were superb. Each one would easily feed two and came in a really nice jute reusable bag. The shop for plants at the enterance/exit has a vast range of flowers, shrubs, herbs and vegetables to buy and we spent ages looking and choosing. The gift shop with a good range of products. Looking forward to a return visit.

We went for a friend's birthday. It is a hidden jewel I never realised was in Chelmsford! Absolutely stunning. We had a picnic on the lawns it was a sunny day. We had time slots to make sure it didn't get too crowded. I recommend this place if you love plants there is a lot to see and find out

Breathtaking gardens with lots of variety. Very inspiring for your own garden projects.

Lots of toilet facilities spread over the grounds, with thoughtful thoroughfare for wheelchair users and land train in peak session to help with the gentle meandering hill. There are several cafe facilities with a new large visitor centre opening in 2021. Well-stocked shop onsite.

Expensive as a single day out, but if you think you'll come back within a year a membership is worth considering.

A lovely RHS garden located in a beautiful area of mid Essex
Plenty of diversity with the planting, ample parking and everywhere is wheelchair accessible.
Onsite catering facilities a little on the expensive side so one can easily bring a picnic instead if you so wish to.
Well worth a visit as you explore this vast site
