Adopted a wonderful cat named Loki who unfortunately passed away a week later. Didn't have him for long but we were definitely in love. The vet at the OSU emergency vet clinic in Dublin said it was an undetected condition in his bone marrow and there was nothing that we could have done. But as many times as Loki was in and out of that shelter (returned by previous foster parents) and as many times as he was in and out of their infirmary (most recently an upper respiratory infection before we got him) I'd like to think someone with some competence looked at him at some point. I'd like to hope they didn't intentionally sell and let us fall in love with a critically and terminally ill cat. I will say, they had clean, and very open enclosures for the cats, I really loved that. I didn't really look at the dogs at all, but I could smell them. Nothing they can do about that I'm sure. Still a seemingly clean facility though, with big enclosures and outwardly healthy animals. Also very pleased with their thorough adoption process. I'm not gonna lie, it was kind of a pain. But it makes me happy to know that they're making sure I'm the right person to keep and take care of the animal, and making sure the animal is going into a good, safe, loving environment. I give 2 stars because I wasn't thrilled with the customer service and because our boy was very ill and I find it difficult to believe they didn't notice.. maybe they really didn't. But then I have a hard time trusting whatever veterinary staff they have there.. idk. You could tell the things the women who work there were telling me, like adoption requirements and stuff, are things they repeat constantly. They all kind of acted like they were saying stuff I should already know, or that any idiot should know. I'm sure my perception is different from others, that's just how I felt and I wasn't a huge fan. It was very hard talking my boyfriend into getting a cat. We finally did and he was instantly smitten with our Loki. Our hearts are broken and I can't help but think this could have been avoided. RIP.

I recently adopted a kitten from this shelter and I was very impressed with the care and dedication of the staff. They were very informative. I can't imagine running a shelter is an easy task, but the staff was all smiles, and the animals are treated well.

Super nice staffs and wonderful facility. They dedicated themselves to help animals find their homes. They helped to spay our two adopted cats and did a wonderful job. Now our two cats recovered well and are very happy with chasing and playing with each other. We really appreciate their help with our family.

This review is strictly based on an experience I h...

This review is strictly based on an experience I had with the staff. I haven t been by there in a little while but the last I heard, the woman who was running the place was named Heidi.
A little while back, I had an issue with one of the vet techs there at the time (she was a short chubby blonde woman). While at the facility, she was outside with some potential adopters, visiting with a small dog- a small dog who then started nervously biting at everyone involved in this interaction. The vet tech then started telling this dog it s okay in a very high pitched, happy voice. You know the one- the one all dogs like to here when they are BEING GOOD.

Now sidenote, I am a DOG TRAINER. I even train DRUG dogs and SERVICE dogs- as well as volunteer to train shelter dogs to help them get adopted. I ve also groomed for 10 years- so I d say I m PRETTY darn confident in my capabilities.

So, I respectfully approached the small group of people and introduced myself, asking the family if they wouldn t mind a little input about the situation. They gratefully listened to what I had to say about using the high pitched voice with a nervous dog, and how it is not something you want to do.
At this moment, the vet tech who worked there sarcastically, and rudely, jumped in saying that that wasn t my job. Well, in reality it wasn t hers either- and was very obviously not handling the situation correctly. She then told me to leave (TOLD me- not ASKED). At which point, I just politely excused myself to the family and said my goodbyes and wished them luck in finding new family member.
As I walked inside, a couple standing by the door complimented me on my knowledge and stated loudly (most likely for the tech to hear) that what I was saying made absolute sense.

My insinuation is that the vet tech didn t approve of that interaction, as I heard her mumble something extremely hateful as I walked by her a little later while I was there.

When I brought this to the attention of Heidi, the director- with the most snarky, stuck up attitude she said, and I QUOTE, No one here is 12 years old. No one would do that. And asked me to leave!!

I was appalled by the unprofessionallism of this location. I think a serious training course on how to treat other people, especially the volunteers would be a pretty good idea.

Coincidently, during this same visit, I was informed that they had euthanized an Australian Shepherd that was there, because a couple of the VOLUNTEERS essentially started a dog fight and then got themselves bitten in the process of breaking it up.

That was the dog I was planning to adopt. And while I was WELL AWARE of his aggression towards SOME dogs, he had interacted perfectly fine with others. Learning that this dog was put down because volunteers didn t abide by the rules of KEEPING THE DOGS APART absolutely FLOORED ME.

I feel like an investigation of the staff at this location needs to be done.

I have not been back since this day, and will never return. I will take my volunteering else where.

We adopted Teddy from the Humane Society two years...

We adopted Teddy from the Humane Society two years ago. The staff was interested in him being a good fit for our family and other pets, as much as we were a good fit for Teddy. It was never one-sided in trying to find him a home. We have found a loyal man's best friend who has his forever home thanks to the amazing staff. Although Teddy had his challenges, the staff was honest and upfront. He has adjusted very well and we wouldn't trade him for the world. The staff love these animals as their own and I am thankful for them. Jana, the Director, works diligently to continually improve the shelter and the services provided. Amazing place!!
