I love their salads! Love their drinks! Hate the wait.
I love their salads! Love their drinks! Hate the wait.
Grandchildren love this place. Enjoy the lake view.
Very good food and awesome atmosphere. The kids even enjoyed the food.
This place is horrible. The service is slow and the servers themselves all seem to be upset to be working. No worth the visit. Stop at Maudie's a mile away and you will be much happier.
I loved the food and eating on the water,so relaxing and the people so sweet
The best Austin restaurant (literally) on lake Austin for their funky tex-mex food, casual vibes and amazing views of the lake and dam.
Great mexican martini and dips. Food was good but not amazing
Overpriced for Mexican food in this time but they do have some good fish. Great place to hangout during the summer time with the back pier going out over the lake. There is always a wait so I go to the very far back bar where you can get full service food and have never waited. I even do this with larger (5-6 people) groups and have no issues finding a table without waiting.
I love their chicken enchiladas here! And, the salsa is always usually so fresh and chunky. Hula Hut will always be one of my favorite restaurants in Austin.
Great atmosphere. And the food was even better than that
Best meal we had on our vaca! Food was delicious and service was great. Drinks were a little watered down but it was also 100 degrees outside so that didn't help! Will be back!
I love the chicken enchiladas. Their other enchiladas are prepared differently and they're not that good. They're not authentic Mexican enchiladas, but Hula Hut puts their own spin on them and they taste great! The atmosphere is fun and if it's warm outside you should definitely sit outside by the water. It's really a wonderful place to be. Prices are reasonable and service is lame.
Came here for lunch after looking at the menu since their prices werent bad. However, was very disappointed with their food. Also didn't like how they nickel and dime you for every little add on. Service was pretty slow too.
I loved this place. Would have given 5 stars but our drinks were watered down.
This place is so awesome! Definitely recommend it. Food was good and the atmosphere was great!
Good for drinks not so much food and service. Nice views and cool boat access restaurant.
They highly suggested that I tip even though it was a take out order.. I tip for dine-in service only.
great location. gets very crowded. drinks are decent. good bar food (a little over-rated).
nice place on the lake, festive atmosphere and good waitress
Awesome sunsets, eat right on the water, feed the fish some chips, boat docks available, great food and good drinks!
Authentic food and a great view! What a hidden gem!
The best place I've ever eaten. Fantastic, very fantastic!
Why is Hula Hut perfect in my eyes and mouth? Well, for starters, it's something chic and unique: Mexican Polynesian food. You MUST try the Thai BBQ Fajitas. There drinks are pretty good (I recommend a simple Grass Skirt or a much stronger Austintini), the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere on the lake is absolutely beautiful. Hula Hut is one of the many reasons why Austin is amazing.
Beautiful scenery and great food for an affordable price! I will be back the next time O visit Austin
It was hotter than Hades inside (a/c was broken) and it was insanely busy, but I was able to snag a seat in the bar area. The waiter was absolutely fantastic. I ordered the veggie nachos, it was a huge serving. They nachos also went great with the cold beer. I'd definitely go again!
The best part about this place has got to be the view. I enjoy eating chips and salsa with the family and watching the seagulls fly over the water. Food was delicious and I was very pleased with the service. Can't wait to come here again!
Always a great Austin place to grab some food and a drink or two!
Update after lunch-
Place is in great location. 10 of us ate there food was good, nothing major to complain about but the server (I think Lucas ) takes all credits for the disappointing experience.
Never asked for refills of water or chips or salsa. Ok fine, might be busy.
Nobody takes a food order standing a table away in a restaurant, guess who did.
So after finishing meals a customer has to hand over the plate even when it's right in front of you. I mean a group of 10 people were just wondering why would someone behave like that. We really want to hope that it was just his bad day and he's a nice guy otherwise. But when one of us said probably we should share the tip for handing over the plates, getting to go boxes from kitchen by ourselves, redistribute credit cards on our own - server was not impressed and goes on to confront the guest while leaving the place. Well, we are disappointed.
Feels like a tropical vacation in Texas. Great location and nice vibe, bit of a crazy place to go to with children (can get VERY busy and crowded) but worth the visit and a really enjoyable spot to enjoy a few drinks and a meal.
Freshen up with a Hu La La at the pier bar. Skip the wait line and order at the bar if you're hungry.
the food is excellent and more!!! I love this place
The ambiance of this place is fabulous. I had a strawberry coconut mojito which combined three of my favorite things and was a hit! The salad I had was great too and huge portion! My friend had the stuffed avocado and seemed to enjoy it. The service at the bar where we sat was okay but I think I will try and sit in the covered outdoor section next time. However, I love any place where I can sit outside by the water!
Very popular TexMex with huge patio where you can eat right on the water
Very good mexican food, half the veggie fajito was enough for 2 people
Food was great but we had to wait an hour to get a table. Hopefully next time it won't be as packed.
The food was delicious and the service was great but the only problem was that there isn't a lot of bar drink options on the menu.
Food was delicious! The wait time was not too long and the staff was incredibly kind!
Super fun themed place. It s so nice to over look the water and it feels like you get a touch of vacation. The staff has always been fun and friendly! I recommend taking out of town guests or family
Hula Hut is a great place to enjoy the sun by the lake with friends. The food is sub par but the drinks are tropical and strong and who can complain that much living like it's five o'clock somewhere. Know going there that you're going for the scene and not the quality of food.
Nice place on the lake. Get the stuffed avocado and you can't go wrong.
Decent texmex at an awesome location. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. The wait can be a little long so plan ahead.
There something peaceful about having lunch or dinner by the lake. The food is excellent. I will come again.
Hula Hut is well-known for it's location. nothing special about the food, we ordered the fish tacos and grilled salmon. The portion is generous and the sides are adequate for more than one person. The view was not as beautiful as I expected, but it was Okay for a change after a long day. One problem may be finding a parking, but they offer a valet parking for $5. alltogether we had a good experience.
An Austin classic badly in need of a renovation. Food and service are fine, but the patio furniture is falling apart (tables barely standing) and the chairs are uncomfortable. Everything outside looks very run down and in need of a refresh.
Wait was too long. Drinks were not good. Food was ok.
The food was quick and pretty good overall, service could be improved but the location and atmosphere make it worth the visit.
Food and service was excellent. Loved the fajitas. Full order definitely enough for 2.
Great location right on the lake. We were seated quickly on a busy Saturday and service was attentive. Food was good, sort of Hawaiian-TexMex.
I have been going to the Hulu Hut for many years. It is always a pleasure and good food!
Always a great spot to catch up with friends and enjoy the amazing views. And of course, margaritas!!
Great Tex mex food! Highly recommended and a nice view of the lake
One of the worst Mai Tais I've ever had, and almost no alcohol in it. The food is more Tex Mex than Polynesian. And, the restaurant is overrun with children. Not a tiki bar at all.
Hula Hut is a cool tex mex meets Hawaiin themed restaurant right off of Lake Austin. They have wonderful, warm , all you can eat chips and salsa and a great menu with everything from stuffed avocados to huge tubular shrimp tacos. And the sunset view is awesome!
I like the place but the service was terrible, I mean terrible. The food was good.
Everything was great. Food, service, ambience. It was really comforting to go to an old favorite spot in my old hood and see reasonable prices
Mozart's is so ridiculous now, they don't even post most of the prices, which are astronomical. Used to be one of my favorites but I refuse to pay $4.50 for a small muffin or empanada or cup of coffee and freeze or bake in the outside on the patio restroom. I left Hula Hut smiling, satisfied, with some money left in my bank account!
Great BBQ tacos plus the baked beans and rice added a great taste to the meal.
Ordered the Shrimp Tubular tacos and it was excellent.
The food was absolutely delicious! I was not expecting such a large portion.
People need to stop bringing their dog to restaurants! Not everyone wants your beast there!
Great food, all the employees were so nice and personable.
Went there for drinks during happy hour, be prepared to wait 10 minutes for service at a time (it wasn't even busy) and 15 minutes for your pre-made margarita to come out. We had chips and they weren't really memorable either. Hopefully their food is better.
Gets a little warm inside in the summer. I feel like that s the main reason why I left right after eating. Wish they had stronger fans/better ac. But overall great drinks and food. The coconut shrimp were phenomenal :)
Best place in Austin, been going to Hula Hut since the first time I moved to Austin, its a long wait on the weekends but every minute is worth waiting, Pipeline Shrimp Enchilada is my favorite and make sure you also order their specialty drink "hu la la"
Poor Experience... Had to hunt down someone to clean off a table so we could sit. Took 10 to 15 for someone to take our order. It took 45 minutes get our drinks. A group that arrived after we order got there drinks before us. After all of that the drinks and the food were sub-par. I'm only giving them 2 stars because of the nice view of the lake.
Good food and drinks. It's always sooo crowded and can be a pain sometimes, but that's because of the location and food are so good.
