Hudson guild Review

Great place to volunteer and seemed like a nice place to spend some time.

This is a standard but decent community effort giving locals a place to go for a wide variety of activities. This is a noble effort but more funding is obviously required in order for the community to take full advantage of the kind of services that can come out of this Center. After school activities for young ones and older ones are readily available; there should should also be a little bit more effort in staff training and professional development, even with minimal funding a well-presented and professional staff can go a long way.

The statf is extremely professional and project sincere concern for members. The major issue is the receptionist needs discipline on greeting attendee. She lacks professional contraction: answering phone not a problem, however "could you move over , I need to see entrance" The security guard is playing a game on cell. With this in view gives Hudson Guild Elliott Center a negative and an uncomfortable impression. The entry should reflect safety and
and respect for seniors.

This center for both adolescent /adult /senior services is a fantastic extension of the Elliot Housing projects

Very impressed. I was invited to an art gallery, my niece was one of the artist,this center is apart of nycha.This center, was so clean and the staff, absolutely helpful.

Depending on which class you get, your child will not be taken care of with a full staff at times. The teachers are great people but are not trained to create structure. There is not enough amenities or structure in this school in general and the toys are very old. The school itself needs to be cleaner and the playground is dangerous at times when people throw things out their windows from the apartment building above.

Hudson Guild had helped me so enormously, words fail. Without my mental health counseling and fantastic team of people helping & advising me on filing for Social Security Disability, I would have drowned in a sea of confusion!
My current experience with the counselor assigned to me is PHENOMENAL! I believe I am blessed to find a real pro in the area of Cognitive behavioral science.
Their psychiatrist team is mediocre. I was able to get the medications necessary for my mental health issues but no real understanding of the complexity of symptoms I suffer from, including addiction & alcoholism. They do NOT specialize in this important area. So I recommend that you keep it simple with this psychiatrist team. Hence the 4-star rating. Otherwise it's a FIVE STAR quality Center for the Chelsea neighborhood.

The facility is GREAT! There are programs for seniors (many activities, meals on the premises, counseling) plus tons of stuff for kids. There is a gym of sorts but I haven't seen it up close. People of ALL ethnicities are helped here. I see older Spanish guys happily playing dominos, kids of different ages coming for after school, Chinese ladies & gentleman doing crafts. There's Bingo. People seem HAPPY to be there.
I don't know how they are funded, but maybe you could try and get involved on this level or just apply for what you need!
